Nearly the end of the month...
The Make It In May Skirt Sew-Along has been lots of fun, and it's given me some much needed motivation (and a kick up the behind) to make some clothes for myself.
I know there are still some peeps who are working on their skirts, so I'll keep posting round ups as they come in.
Here are the ones that have made it before Pumpkin O'clock (ie. the deadline)!
Skirt 1
Butterick B4461 by Marina from Wink Designs. This is such a cool design - totally up my alley. Adding it to my 'I want this pattern' list in Evernote. PS - make sure you click over to check out Marina's new boots.
Skirt 2
Nikki's You Sew Girl A-Line skirt by Mousiemouse on Flickr. Love the embellishment that runs along the bottom, and there's another fantastic a-line skirt with doileys too!
Skirt 3
This skirt has a very sweet story. Susie from Flowerpress is teaching her daughter to sew and this skirt is their first project together.
Skirt 4
Clothkits Trellick Skirt by Tania from Myrtle & Eunice. I know she loves a last minute challenge and she certainly didn't disappoint!
Skirt 5
An almost finished freestyle skirt by Nicole from Dabbling All Day. I'll re-visit this one soon.
Skirt 6
The second of Nikki's You Sew Girl A-Line skirts this time by Liz from Arty Lady. The retro fabric is completely gorgeous and this version is also fab as is gives you a great comparison in how the shorter length gives a completely different look.
Thankyou so much ladies!
I managed to finish my second skirt before the deadline, but not in time to actually take any decent photos... so I'll have to save that for tomorrow.
If you've finished and I haven't added you to the linky list on the left hand sidebar, please email me to let me know.

Are we there yet?
Only two more sleeps peeps!
Unfortunately the dreaded lurgy has decided to visit and ruined my motivation and energy to do anything much.... but I forced myself back to the sewing machine yesterday afternoon to finish the Christmas pressies.
I'm giving my little nephews a Lego type gift each.
I really struggled to find an appropriate Lego for the twins who are 3 1/2. There seems to be a real gap in the market between babyish type Lego and the 5-12 age group.
Of course, what I love more than the Lego, is the Lego bag!
Nice bright durable cotton drill with a panel of gorgeous Lego fabric by Susie from Flowerpress.... and in different colours so that there are no arguments.
I hope they're a hit!

Flowerpress - Show & Tell
I'm out and about today, but in very exciting news, I'm doing a little Show & Tell Interview with Susie over at Flowerpress.
I was so chuffed to be asked, as she's interviewed some amazingly talented and creative crafters in her series so far.
Grab a cuppa and pop on over!
Thanks Susie

Chalk Filigree
Take one beautiful Flowerpress Chalk Filigree Teatowel
Fuse some nice heavy woven interfacing on the back....
Cut, sew, cut some more, sew some more, make some straps, a pocket, and an inner bag, and sew all together. Add a magnetic snap closure....
.... and what do you get?
A one-off personalised handbag for Susie's mum.
Hope she loves it!

The Flowerpress Brooch Swap - In Technicolour
To tell you the truth, I was a little bit nervous when I signed up for Susie's fantastic Flowerpress Brooch Swap.
You see, I really only make one type of brooch at the moment.... and I've made lots and lots and lots of them over the last two years since that very first accidental felty one.
I was a bit worried that my partner would have seen all of the flower brooches that I've made, and not wanted one, and then I was puzzled as to what on earth else I could make?
But then I breathed a sigh of relief when I received my swap partner....
I'm about 99.9% sure that she doesn't read my blog, and won't see this before her brooch arrives.
But to top things off, she also made a flower brooch for her partner (which of course, I've now concluded to mean that she would also love a flower brooch).... oh, and it also doubles as a hair clip as it has a brooch finding and a clip on the back (double duty accessory).
I was having trouble choosing a colour scheme, so I went with technicolour....
I think it's the perfect thing to brighten up these cold grey days at the moment.
I posted it on Monday, but I'm pretty sure it's probably stuck in some sort of ash cloud delay somewhere on it's way to NZ.
I really hope she likes it.
Thanks so much for organising such a super fun swap Susie!

My Brooch Swap is Here
I was so excited when I arrived home yesterday afternoon to a letterbox bursting with hotties.
I brought all the packages inside and plonked them on the kitchen bench, and spotted one from NZ.
I wasn't expecting a hottie..... from NZ was I?
I quickly grabbed the scissors and cut it open..... where all was revealed.
Check out the gorgeousness!
Clare from Green Valley Crafts has matched the swap to my taste perfectly. She also included a lovely little floral needle book (which will be perfect to organise my hand stitching needles to take along for NCB this week).
Thankyou so much Clare - I love it!
PS - Thanks so much to Susie from Flowerpress for a swap well done
PPS - Pop on over and visit Clare - her photos are stunning!

Featured Hottie Number 11
I'm keeping with todays Flowerpress theme (brooch swap post below), and introducing Susie's HOT HOT HOT Hottie!
How amazing is that piecing?
Susie even wrote a little tutorial in case anyone would like to know how to piece fabric together to create her HOT HOT HOT.
Thankyou so much Susie!

A Swapsies Dilemma
Today I need to make a very important decision.....
.... on just what to make for my brooch swap partner?
Hmmmm but first I need coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.
