I've got a lovely bunch....

.... of new flower brooches.

I thought I'd share a little bit of the behind the scenes processes that go into making each little batch of colourful florally goodness.

These two, plus a couple of other more Wintery/Wintry (not quite sure of the spelling there) coloured flower brooches are heading to Gleaners Inc today.

Of course, there are also a few lovely ones listed in the shop...

Hibernating

'Twas just a little bit too warm for me today, so I spent the day hibernating in the air-conditioning sewing iPad Sleeves.

Some manly (as in 'for men' not as in Manly the suburb) ones are heading to Open Drawer tomorrow

Along with some lovely bright colourful flower brooches....

Little Shop Of... Re-stocked

I was supposed to re-stock Little Shop Of a couple of weeks ago.... but that call put a spanner in the works for a little while.

As soon as the sewjo returned, I got to work whipping up some brand new Vintage Fabric Sunnies/Specs Pouches. I'm happy to report that they're now in the shop and ready to be snapped up!

There's also a range for the bloke in your life. My fave is the plaid one made using a pair of mens vintage pants.

To celebrate the oncoming gorgeous weather, there's also fresh new colours of flower brooches available.

In my creative space today..... it's the Leaning Tower of Flower Brooch bases.

I managed to finish the hand stitching on these bases yesterday, so I'm hoping that I may actually have a chance to complete them over the weekend.

Another slightly quiet week on the creative front, but the combination of cold weather and great TV (Hello Offspring.... and Team Patrick!) has meant plenty of time for hand stitching brooches while sitting on the couch.

I've popped a couple of the rainbow brooch/hairclips in the shop. They might just be the perfect accessory to brighten up your winter wardrobe!

A Swapsies Dilemma

Today I need to make a very important decision.....

Hmmmm but first I need coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.

Getting Stitchy

It's definitely been couch weather this week.... which means that I've been sitting in front of the heater in the evenings hand stitching a few new brooches.

They're not quite finished yet, but certainly getting there.

In other news, voting in the first round of the Cosmo Fun Fearless Female Awards has finished.
There were over 218,000 votes in total!

I want to say a huge thankyou to each and every person who took the time to vote for me.
Finalists are announced on June 6th, so I have a nailbiting month to wait and wonder!

These were made using some of the lovely offcuts from Anna's Wendy Dresses.

I think the fabric may be this one from the Love collection by Amy Butler? I'm sure all of you Amy afficionados can confirm/deny!

Put A Bird On It

I was sitting at the kitchen bench yesterday making some new brooches and sifting through my button collection......

....and as soon as I found this one, of course, this was what immediately sprang to mind!

These new brooches have a multi-purpose finding so that they can be used as a brooch, or a hairclip, or whatever you like really.

This current lot of brooches will be available for sale (except for the one that I've snaffled for myself) over at my facebook page until Tuesday night.

Petals...

This week has been all about nightimes on the couch..... and flower petals

Although all of the fabrics are pre-prepared on the sewing machine, the familiar routine of cutting petal after petal after petal is quite relaxing, and oddly therapeutic after a busy day.

I'm looking forward to transforming them into brooches over the easter weekend....

Gosh is it Thursday already??? My Creative Space has come around again very quickly indeed.

The one advantage of the end of daylight savings is that there's actually some lovely light for taking photos bright and early in the morning.

It's been a long hiatus, but I think it's high time that I played around with making some flower brooches.

On the Telly - Part 2

I have very exciting news today... but first I must explain my little addiction.

I'm completely addicted to renovation and lifestyle shows - I love nothing more than ripping out the old and putting in the new, and slapping lots of nice fresh paint around the place.

I've had Foxtel since it's inception back in the 90's, except for three months when I went cold turkey after my last house move. I desperately tried, but I just couldn't live without my daily dose of the Lifestyle Channel.

 But now for the exciting news of the day....

One of my favourite shows on the Lifestyle Channel is Selling Houses Australia. This season it's actually called Selling Houses Australia Extreme as the houses are really in dire need of help.

In tonights episode, Interior Designer extraordinaire Shaynna Blaze will be wearing her CurlyPops Flower Brooch.

Sunshine and Blooms

The sun is streaming through the windows thismorning, and it's going to be a beautiful day!

I finished off some more flower brooches lastnight, and I've had a little mini update over at The CurlyPops Shop.....  I'm hoping to pop some things in the shop thisafternoon.

Sunny Sunday

Bec and her Little Miss popped in for a crafty playdate thisafternoon.

We had a wonderful time drinking cups of tea and eating home made (by Little Miss) raspberry bundt cake with double cream.... mmmmm


I dragged out all of my vintage self covering buttons kits and Bec made these cute little animal buttons for me.

 
I gave Little Miss her new brooch which she loved, and then decided to make a few more in random colours.

I also managed to do quite a bit of cutting to whip up some Gadget Pouches and Sunnies/Specs Pouches...

including some beautiful new Kokka fabrics that I bought at The Retromummy Shop last week.

....and in super exciting breaking news, Liz emailed to let me know that she spotted one of my brooches in The Age - M Magazine today in an article about Dear Gladys. I didn't buy The Age today - did anyone else see it?
