Then this one time... at craft camp

I was so completely chuffed when Nic from Yardage Design won the weekend getaway to The Retreat Woodend (she's a really good egg you know).

I was even more chuffed that even though I couldn't stay for the weekend, I was able to head down for a fun day out with some lovely crafty chicks (and Pam)!.

There were lots of different crafts happening, but I chose block printing.

Nic bought along all of the supplies that we needed, and showed us all the tips and tricks, before letting us loose with lino cutters and that stuff that's softer than lino but I can't remember the name of (sorry you can blame the lack of oxygen to the brain for my terrible memory).

Oh and just by the way.... I have NO idea what Nic was making. What was it again?

Put a group of crafty bloggers in a room together and it's always a crack up. There was much discussion about hair accessories and bacon. Not necessarily together. There was boasting and laughter about my Kirk Pengilly fangirl moment.

Afternoon tea. O.M.G. there are no words... Cathie made my two favourite things - her Banana Bread and Lemon Tart.

My moustaches. At one point I thought they looked more like seagulls, but I think I like them en masse like that.

Oh, and this is my finished floral panel.

Now I just need to heat set them with the ironing press and decide what to make.
This was heaps of fun and I'll definitely try it again.

Thanks so much for all the fun and laughter girls!

Featured Hottie Number 5

DSC_0288

Another lovely Hottie arrived at the front door this week (thankfully the postie didn't try to stuff it in the letterbox)!

All the way from the fresh country air at Kate's place.... to the big city.

It's soooo soft and snuggly, and I'm very partial to dark grey. It's definitely a winter staple in my wardrobe.

Thankyou so much Kate!

My Happy List

Have you thought about your happy list?

I think about mine nearly every day. I don't need any prompting.

The thing that always makes it to the top of my list, is that I'm happy just to still be here, living this life, a day at a time...

... oh, and I'm also very happy that some bright spark invented chocolate!

Myrtle the Turtle

Meet Myrtle* - this amazing little creature arrived at my house yesterday. When I signed up for the pincushion swap, I would never have imagined that I could have received such a perfect pressie, in all my favourite colours!

Christy from Little Betty Designs has crocheted an absolute masterpiece for me. I'm sure everyone knows how much I truly appreciate the art and skill of crochet, because I've failed miserably at trying to learn it myself.

I don't think I want to stick pins in Myrtle just yet in case she is ruined. I think she'll be joining the gaggle of merry critters that live in my bookshelf instead.

Christy also sent me a lovely little crochet brooch - the perfect accessory for autumn. Thanks so much Christy and Kate!

* When my siblings and I were very little, we had a babysitter named Myrtle, so of course we called her 'Myrtle the Turtle' (nothing else rhymes with Myrtle - right?)..... as soon as I saw my little turtle, I just knew she was a Myrtle.

SwapPIN'

I'm late, I'm late.... for a very important date!

After all the busy-ness of last week, I only managed to finish my pin cushion on the weekend, so I'll be on the doorstep of the post office first thing thismorning to send it on its way.

I'm doing the 'big reveal' early, as I'm quite sure that my swapee has absolutely no inkling that I was her swapper.

After stumbling at my first gung-ho attempt at this, I decided to tone down my crazy patchwork with a bit of soothing green. It was still missing a little something.... so some extra random stitching was required to get it over the line. In the end, it's a very super simple, little pin pillow design.

I've packaged up with some little pins and yummy chocolate. I hope my swap partner likes it!

A huge huge thankyou must go out to Kate who put in so much time and effort to organise such a wonderful (and rather gi-normous) swap.
