Sometimes you strike gold....
.....Op Shop Gold that is.
I've been wanting to buy vintage chairs for my dining table for the loooooongest time. I've never ever ever found a large affordable matching set.
So you can imagine my surprise when my sister and I walked into the oppy a couple of weeks ago and spotted these gems. A matching set of eight vintage wooden dining chairs, in excellent condition.
But the best bit.... they were only $10 each. You could have knocked me down with a feather!
I think they've had a previous life in a school art classroom.
They all have various splashes of coloured paint, pencil, and pastel. I think it adds to the character.
The only problem with this room of course is that there's just waaaay too much wood. The wall unit was purchased for my previous house. It matched perfectly there, but now I wish it was painted white.
I need to make myself a Go Granny Cotton Canvas tablecloth to brighten it up a bit... off to add it to the big list!

From the archives?
2010 seems such a long time ago now - especially after celebrating the new year twice.
I was cleaning up some of my photo folders, and realised that I'd actually never blogged the final photos from my mini-reno.
The furniture was moved in, the photos were put up, and I promptly headed off on holidays. This is such a lovely spot to sit on a sunny morning now - and nice and clean now that it's no longer outside!
Another thing that I never got around to blogging about was this gorgeous doily garland that Michelle from Midge and Judy sent me as a little get well suprise last year. It fits perfectly between the two windows in my living area, and is a lovely colourful distraction from the air conditioner.
Pop back in for a visit tomorrow, and I'll have some photos of my finished craft area reno.

Progress...
This was my little outdoor nook before work began on Thursday (and yes, I do have a lovely view of the neighbours laundry door and clothesline... thanks for asking).
In progress - tea break
All installed - I had the builders move my old curtain pole (which is far too short) and curtains (which are also too short) for the moment, until I organise another solution
I've ordered my new wooden floating floor, so as soon as it's installed, I'll be able to move the furniture in and decorate.
The glass sliding door on the right of this photo leads into my craft space. You can probably see the ironing board through the window.
I might need to start organising a dining room warming very soon!
