Chocberry Bag
As soon as my new Chocberry colourway arrived, I couldn't wait to cut into it to make something just for me.
I have about eleventy-billion handbags... lots of really little ones, and lots of really big ones, but I never can seem to find one that's just right in the middle.
I auditioned a few different lining fabrics...
... but the gorgeous swirly one that Cathy bought for me won hands down.
This is the perfect size for my everyday bag. It had a maiden voyage to NCB Wednesday night, and today it gets to come along to pulmonary rehab, and then for a coffee and red velvet cupcake date.
I can't wait (for the coffee and cupcakes that is)!!!

Go Granny... now in Chocberry
Exciting news today!
My new Go Granny in Chocberry colourway is now available.
It's quite difficult to get a photograph that truly represents the colour accurately. The pink and orange are quite rich and bright, which is just what I wanted.
I immediately had to cut into it and start making myself a new handbag. I'm hoping to finish it off today.
I've only had a really small amount printed at this stage, so get in quick if you like it. If you miss out, and would really love some, just send me an email and I can order another print run.

Be Still My Beating Cheating Heart Skirt
Panel is off centre on purpose (just in case you were wondering)
I know I promised some behind the scenes printing photos today, but I just can't resist showing you the skirt that I whipped up yesterday!
It's a total Cheaty McCheaterson skirt which was really easy to make.
Of course, I must preface this by warning you that I assumed that this would be less time consuming than making a skirt from scratch. Ha! I was completely wrong.
Also, if you really really don't like unpicking, then this is most definitely NOT the project for you.
I'm kicking myself that I didn't take a before photo, but this was originally a plain corduroy skirt that I bought from the oppy well over a year ago. It was on the $1 rack as it was missing a button at the back, and at that stage it wasn't my size, but I bought it just for the fabric.
Fast forward a year and add a few kilos and voila - it fits!
It was soooo plain, and it had no pockets, so it was never ever going to be worn.... until now.
I unpicked the bottom hem, side seams and the facing, and separated the back and front halves. I then cut a section out of the front half and inserted a lovely panel of my Go Granny fabric.
I then added the pocket pieces to the both halves of the skirt and sewed all the pieces back together again.
I even worked out how to top-stitch the pockets this time so that they sit nicely (happy dance).
I'm just wishing that I could wear it today... but it's not really appropriate for the gym. Maybe tomorrow!

Granny is Go!
I had such an exciting day yesterday.
It was spent at the Frankie and Swiss studio finalising the colour and design of my Go Granny fabric.... and I even pressed the GO button on my very first commercial print run for this range!
It's printed on a 100% natural fibre 295gsm cotton canvas using water based, non-toxic solvent free inks.
It's perfect for all sorts of projects from purses, to bags, to skirts. I'm even going to use it to make myself some new curtains.
I have lots of lovely 'behind the scenes' pics to share tomorrow, but for now I just wanted to share the fabric and let everyone know that it's available for purchase in the shop.

While We Wait
My new granny square fabric is not quite ready to go just yet....
So in the meantime, to whet your appetite for granny squares, I've added some new cards to the shop.
Have a super fabulous day!

Granny Square Fabric is Go!
Gosh, such super exciting news today...
You may remember a little while back I designed and sampled some of my granny square fabric.
I even used it as a background in the promo shot that I used for the Cosmo FFF competition.
Well, in the coming week, I'm moving into production mode, and having it printed right here in Melbourne, by Frankie and Swiss, a new boutique textile printer.
I'm hoping to be able to offer for sale very very very soon.... but at the moment I'm doing a little happy dance!

The Evolution of a Granny Bag
It all began with a hand sketched drawing.....
....which became a design way back in November last year.
It was digitally printed as a lovely linen cotton blend fabric sample in December (right here in Australia), and has been longingly fondled and gazed at ever since.
It's finally been transformed into a handbag, just the perfect size for me and all of my bits and bobs.
I'm hoping to be able to share the fabric printing news very shortly, but in the meantime, I have more samples on the way, and I'll hopefully have some granny square fabric available very soon!

My Creative Space - a granny square.... of sorts
The case of the sewjo kidnapped by the lurgy has meant that it's been drawing central in my creative space this week.
Which has led to lots of mucking around in photoshop working on a new design.
I figured that if I can't crochet a granny rug, then why not just make my own drawn / digital version?
So of course, there are now fabric samples on the way.....
