Cornwall

A little while ago, a lovely blog reader named Belinda emailed me to enquire about a Cornwall cushion that I'd made for a Gleaners Inc customer.

Her FIL has been researching the family history and it turns out that they're from Cornwall, so she wanted to surprise him with a special Fathers Day pressie.

I didn't have another of the same teatowel, but I did find a plain blue and white Cornwall teatowel in the stash, so I popped it in the post, and Belinda transformed it into this gorgeous cushion.

I love the way she has appliqued the feature pictures onto a background fabric to make them pop!

That's one very happy FIL!

Imagine my surprise last week when I found an unexpected parcel in the letterbox. Belinda made this super cute little tin for me.

I'm flabbergasted at how perfect the font and flowers are! Amazing...

Oh, and it has some sweet little vintage buttons inside too.

Thankyou Belinda!

A vintage treasure

I walked out to the letterbox the other day to check the mail.....

When I opened it I discovered a little box.
I wasn't expecting any parcels.

I've been trying to stick to my new budget, so I was racking my brain, trying to figure out whether I'd been online shopping and just forgotten!

But then I turned the little box over, and discovered to my great suprise and joy, that it was a secret gift from Silly Gilly

It's a buttonhole foot for my Singer 201K that I discovered on the side of the road.

I'll have to try to give it a road test on the weekend.

Thanks Silly Gilly!

Moo Moo turns Two

It's Moo Moo's birthday today so I whipped him up a pair of superstar shorts.

I found this great corduroy at the oppy last week, and I used a bit of vinyl offcut for the star.
He opened up the package and was much more interested in the Freddo Frog that came with them!

Sunday Stash & a quilt update

Todays Sunday Stash.... little monkeys from Amitie. As per usual with my fabric shopping habits, I have nothing specific in mind for it. I just bought it because I thought it was cute!

Do you remember the gender neutral baby quilt dilemma? I just happened to mention to my girlfriend that I was planning on making her a gender neutral gift before the baby was born, as she wouldn't open the secret envelope with the answer inside! She then informed me that she actually love it if I wouldn't mind waiting until the baby was born, because she would prefer if I could make something specifically for a boy or a girl. So my plan for using the fabric that she had purchased and given to me went out the window.

After having a re-think, I'm now going to use it to make a cushion for her 2 year old son's birthday in March. I've booked in to do a cushion making course at Amitie, so I'm now going to make a patchwork cushion panel using the clown fabric, before the class. I'm thinking the clowns, red, yellow, and the stripes will be perfect a little boy.

Tune in for the winner of my giveaway later on tonight!

Wendy's Bag

It's my Auntie's birthday tomorrow, so my mum asked me to make her a handbag. Hopefully, it should arrive in her mailbox today!

A beautiful gift

I received an amazingly beautiful gift last week. I'd mentioned to Cathy how much I loved this gorgeous vintage tin....

...so she packed it up with the most amazing array of crafty goodies for me. I can't wait to dive right in and whip up something! Thankyou so much Cathy for such a wonderful suprise.

If you haven't caught up with Tinniegirl, then you should definitely check out the Tinniegirl blog and the Tinniegirl Etsy shop.

The Christmas Wrap

Christmas is over for another year.....

We enjoyed the Christmas Eve ritual of sprinkling of reindeer dust on the front lawn....

Writing the last minute letters to Santa.... (they forgot until it was time to go to bed)

and waiting for the sun to set so Santa could deliver all the pressies....

Then Christmas day, it was time to give out all of the pressies....

....and rip them open as fast as possible!

I received some Spotlight vouchers (which I'll save until I can afford a dressmakers dummy), a book, a handbag hook, and a USB photo keyring.... and that's a wrap!

Revealed

All the handmade gifts have finally been distributed...... so now I can reveal this one...

It's a curtain ring bag for my mum, using some vintage sheridan fabric for the outer floral panel, and a vintage pillowcase for the lining. I really like the purple and green together.

Back tomorrow for the Christmas Wrap - hope everybody had a lovely day!

Merry Christmas - part 2

The most amazing thing happened yesterday....

I was sitting in the study typing up my christmas post yesterday, when I spied the postie dropping off my mail in the letterbox out the front.

After I'd finished, I wandered out to the letterbox, expecting to find bills and junk mail.... but instead there was an unexpected package. Inside the package, I found a lovely homemade christmas cake and a beautiful card.

I am utterly amazed and grateful that someone would send me such a lovely gift... so thankyou so much Michelle for being my christmas fairy.... you are completey amazing!

....and I now have these fab Hokey resin earrings to match with my rose pendant and ring!

The Kootoyoo ScheDUEL

You may remember Kirsty's first round of scheDUEL, where the aim of the game was to pick the blog author that Kirsty was thinking of when she made this fantastically gorgeous pendant.

Well lucky me....would you believe that I am now the very proud owner of it! Yippee!

It matched perfectly with the jacket that I was wearing lastnight.... and it matches perfectly with the pink top I'm wearing today too.

I also picked up some gorgeous vintage fabrics that Kirsty was cleaning out. I'm thinking the gorgeous tablecloth at the bottom will become a lovely apron for me.

Thanks so much Kirsty!

A happy mail day....

I headed down to the post office thismorning to post off some goodies....

....and when I arrived home, the postie had been to my house.....

and look what he delivered....this sweet Paisley Jade bunny named Cherry.

Cherry is currently sitting on my kitchen windowsill, keeping an eye on the choc chip cupcakes for me. Thankyou so much Kristy. Cherry was such a wonderful suprise.

Kristy has a softie shop here where you can find lots of other gorgeous bunnies.

Cherry and I are off to have a cup of tea and a cupcake now....

Eeeeeeeeeekkkkkk part 2

Well yesterday I opened the letterbox and squeeled with delight again!

There was another gorgeous package waiting for me to rip it open. This was a gift from Kristie over at Missie Krissie just because..... Isn't that sweet!

Inside are some beautiful fabrics (the goldfish fabric is really cute), some ribbon and vintage buttons and the cutest little quilted zippered pouch. The photo doesn't do it justice, but it's a quilted block (I think it's log cabin but I don't know much about quilting) which has been turned into a pouch...such a great idea.

Thankyou so much Kristie, I love it all!

Also in yesterdays mail was this sweet little postcard from Jhoanna. I wish I lived closer to Balaclava so I could go and check out all of her gorgeous softies in person......

This is heading straight for my inspiration wall in the half craft / half spare room!

Charlie

This is a gift for a new little baby boy named Charlie (isn't that a cute name).

Some bibs for mopping up spills and spit......

.....and a little froggy blankie.
