Loot Glorious Loot - Day 6

Onto day 6, and the Lootfest continues....

Jess from Button Beauty popped this gorgeous old teatowel in the mail for me this week. My little sister was born in 1976, so I might have to whip something up for her with this beauty!

I'm very excited today because the Thornbury Craft Bonanza girls are coming to visit for our monthly craft-a-palooza. I made a quick trip to the shops yesterday to pick up the required chocolate supplies, so everybody should be happy.... now I should probably try to clean up some of the mess in my craft space to make room for everyone....

PS - More looters here

Love Fridays...

Today I'm Lovin' Friday as I received an amazing package in the mail from Jess at Button Beauty.

I've had knitted washcloths on my 'I want to make' list forever.... I just never actually got around to it. Now I have these gorgeous washcloths (in my absolute favourite colours), and they're so soft and lovely.

There were also some fab vintage tea towels and hankies, a vintage pattern book, and some wonderful crafty bits and bobs that I can incorporate into my crafty creations. Thanks so much Jess.

I'm also lovin' all the updates over at Handmade Help..... so many crafty bargains for a great cause..... I just wish I could buy them all!

Check out the home of Love Fridays over here at Tinniegirl.

Photo Tag

Jess from Button Beauty has challenged me to a game of photo tag.

The rules are:

Go to your sixth picture folder in your picture file on your computer
Pick your sixth picture
Try to remember the details
Post it on your blog

This blurry pic is a scarf that I knitted for myself. This would have been somewhere amongst a few knitting lessons via Brown Owls.

This actually turned out to be a great scarf because the yarn hid any mistakes and the colour matches with anything.

Thanks Jess.... I'm going to tag Sel (she's a bit lost for blog fodder at the moment).

The room formerly known as....

...the kitchen (slightly blurry photo from real estate agent).

I was chuckling about this post from Jess yesterday, so I decided to play show and tell.

We've had a contract signed on the house (but no celebrating just yet as it's not a completely done deal until the 28th November). The good news is that it means no more inspections for the time being...yippee!

So this is what the kitchen now looks like. I've relegated myself to eating meals sitting on the couch as there's no room on the table anymore. The middle bench has now become the fabric cutting bench instead. I'm hoping to get lots of christmas pressies whipped up while I have lots of room to spread out.

But first, I need to make some tags to attach to my fete goodies....

A Week of Vintage Teatowels with Jess

This week Jess at Button Beauty is hosting a week of vintage tea towels....

I found this one at the oppy last week. I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do with it just yet but I loved the floral design, and the brown and yellow together.

A Week of Vintage Tea Towels

I'm a joiner.....what can I say?

This week I'm also joining Jess at Button Beauty who is hosting a week of vintage tea towels.

Instructions:

Take one pretty vintage tea towel and add some bias binding and some straps.

Result:

One very individual and cool kitchen (or craft) apron!

Now head on over and say hi to Jess to see who else is playing along..... and if you really love this apron, it's in the shop.

Love Fridays.....

Sheesh....Friday has come around way too quickly this week. The entire week has just flown by, and craft wise, all I've managed is one lonely headband and a spot of knitting on the couch....

Anyway, I've had a lovely Friday because I went and had a lovely lunch with two girlfriends that I used to work with. We haven't caught up for quite a while, so it was great to have a big long chat!

Then I arrived home and found a parcel in the mail. Not only did the lovely Jess send me a card earlier in the week, she also sent me a giant package of gorgeous vintage floral pillowcases! The package took up my entire letterbox.....

They're all beautiful and soft and snuggly.

Thankyou so much Jess for lifting my spirits again....there are lots and lots of pillowcase projects over here that I would love to try out....and these will be absolutely perfect.

For more of Love Friday, head on over and say hi to Big Cat, and see who else is playing along or just join up!

Frifty Friday

I decided to treat myself to a little op-shopping today. I was extremely restrained because I should actually be de-cluttering my life at the moment, not adding to it!

I found my all time favourite book....Womans Day Handicrafts (1973 version). I know I already have a copy of this, but if you don't already have a copy then keep your eyes peeled for a little bloggy giveaway coming very soon.

I also found another kiddies craft book and a toys to make book to add to the overgrown craft book collection.
I also found a lovely small yellow gingham tablecloth, a floral pillowcase, and a fantastic brown 70's tablecloth that still has the original label stuck to it.

I checked the letterbox when I returned home to find a lovely cheery letter in the letterbox from Jess at Button Beauty. It's just so nice to know that there are so many wonderful, caring people in the world. Thanks so much Jess for cheering up my day today, it means the world to me!

This weeks 'This Is'

As you probably already know, Angela is heading off on her first overseas trip, so Sharon from Handmaiden is filling in as the 'This Is Hostess with the Mostess'. I must say I was very chuffed when she asked me to nominate this weeks theme.

Not long ago, Jess had a giveaway on her blog and to enter you had to leave a comment about your first ever concert you went to, or the first ever album you bought. I loved reading all the comments she received....it was quite hilarious! So, that's the inspiration for this weeks theme which is:

This is my absolute favourite band of all time

I want to know all about it....when did you first hear their music? Which albums did you buy (on vinyl or tape or cd)? Which concerts did you go to? Which crappy overpriced souvenirs were you seduced into buying? Were you in love with the lead singer, or the guitar player, or the drummer? Did they have tight acid wash jeans and bad 80's hair? Did they mime or actually sing (very big question in the 80's)?

Maybe even include a Mixtape of your favourite songs too so we can all share!
Can't wait for Sunday!

Birdy Loot

My Name that Birdy winners have now received their little parcels in the mail so I can show the prizes......

First up, we have Sherrins new apron, proudly modelled by the very attractive pool fence...... hmmm, that pool fence is looking a little thin..... it may need some more chocolate.

.....now here's the lining of the apron, proudly modelled by the kids outdoor table on the deck.......

.....and in a speedy backroom change, the kids table is back, quick as a flash, this time modelling Sherrins new potholder.

What have we here? An about turn in the colour range ....... I'm not sure this collection really belongs together....

Here's Jess's pleated apron, modelled by the patio table......

..... and the reverse side. That patio table is showing some talent being able to swippity swap on the catwalk like that.

..... and finally, the kitchen bench wanted to get on into the modelling action, this time with the little drawstring bag consolation prizes for Jess's littlies.

* Note....I am attempting humour...I really don't think I'm very funny!
