My creative space

I'm currently testing out the revised instructions for the Day Bag for Nikki..... so this is my second zippered pocket - woohoo!

I've finished the outer of the bag - I decided to add the optional front flap.

.... and I was lucky enough to watch, and learn all about making structured bag bases, and using purse feet, while Nikki was making her fabulous video tutorial yesterday.

If you watch closely, my bag makes a guest appearance right at the end!

I'd better pack up all of my bag bits and pieces and take them along to Sewjourn to finish off.

Also arriving in my creative space this week - a fabulous crocheted tablecloth from Tania at Myrtle and Eunice - there are hundreds of beautiful circles to play with....yippee!

Thanks Tania

It's Tuesday and I can't wait to....

.... wear my new scarf

Tinniegirl gave me this beautiful scarf that she crocheted (It took a close up shot to show the wonderful pattern detail); and ever since, the weather has been mild, and even sunny and warm.

May in Melbourne.... it should be scarf weather!!!

A right Royal parcel

I arrived home lastnight to find a parcel waiting for me on my little doorstep!

Michelle from The Royal Sisters has been crocheting up a storm, making these amazing headbands and matching necklaces.

I've been wearing my headband out and about all day... it even matches my glasses. You'll have to excuse the photos - but these were the best of about thirty. Who knew it could be so difficult to take a photo of ones' own head?

Just don't go for the extreme close up view, or you'll see all my grey hair. Reminds me that I'd better book in for some more foils.

Thankyou so much Michelle for your generousity. If you head on over to The Royal Sisters Etsy shop, there are different colours and different designs.... but all so cute, and an absolute bargain too - Mothers Day pressie anyone?

Look Cathy....I did it!

I missed the inaugural Thornbury Sewing Bonanza a couple of weeks ago.....

To make up for it, I had an absolutely lovely Sunday afternoon of fabric swooning, crafty show and tell, crafty gadget demonstrations, crochet lessons, crafty book browsing, latte's and choccy biscuits all courtesy of the fabulously generous Cathy aka Big Cat!

Lookie here! After an afternoon granny square lesson from Cathy, I managed to come home and actually make my own granny square all by myself (ok, it's taken a loooooong time and multiple lessons but I finally did it)! I grabbed my crochet book and looked at the instructions and it sort of started to make sense...... Now I want to make lots more granny squares!

.....and look at this gorgeous piece of vintage fabric that Cathy gave me....OMG I cannot wait to make myself a fabulous handbag (I'm not sharing this fabric...I'm keeping it all for me, me, me).

Granny not so square...

Lastnight was my second crochet attempt at Brown Owls.... it was a lot more successful than my previous attempt! I made something that might be known as a granny square but it's not really square (I had a bit of trouble getting the tension even all the way around).

It was a lovely crochetty evening full of chatting, eating, drinking and laughing. I met Angelique who was visiting all the way from Noumea, and farewelled Corrie (luckily she was able to squeeze in one more Brown Owls night before moving).....

Thanks once again to Kirsty and Pip for a great night out!

I am not a Crochet Master!

I had a lovely time at Brown Owls on Monday night. Jess and Aunty Pat tried to teach me how to crochet but I'm going to need lots and lots of practice!

Luckily we had some other crochet masters on our table who were extremely helpful when I got stuck so a special thankyou to Steph and Lara and to Corrie who helped me to get started. It was also lovely to see Libby and Christie again and to meet Jess who was all the way from Canberra! In the photo above, the owls nest and the granny square were created by Steph. My crochet talents only extended to the sad looking mis-shapen blue piece of double crochet!

Thanks to all the Brown Owls girls for another wonderful night out!

This is........my latest discovery

Anyone who has been reading this blog would know straight away what my latest discovery is!

My Clover Bias Tape Makers that I bought from Clegs.......

......and then this is my next discovery, crochet supplies to take to Brown Owls tomorrow night.
Brown Owl has asked me to bring crochet hooks in size 3s, 4s and 5s. I wasn't sure what that meant but I found 3mm, 4mm and 5mm so I'm hoping that's correct. Can someone please let me know if it isn't so I can pop back into Spotlight tomorrow and exchange them.

Thanks to Angela for hosting this lovely meme and RheLynn for this weeks theme. Hope everyone's having a lovely sunny Sunday!
