Happy Anniversary...FTTC172 66

Mona Pendleton | Monday, June 4, 2012 @ 10:00 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! It's time for an all new Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge! Thanks to all who joined along last week :) This week, Amanda is our lovely hostest and she is challenging us all to create a WHITE card/project with LACE and/or PEARLS.
What a challenge for patterned paper / color loving kind of crafty gal! My dear husband Scott and I will be celebrating our 8th year Wedding Anniversary next week, so I used this challenge to create an elegant but not too frilly card for him :)
I stamped both the sentiment from Flourished Words, which by the way is unfortunately retired and the gorgeous heart from Fanciful Flourishes on a piece of Vellum then heat embossed using fine white embossing powder. Speaking of retired stamp sets, Flourishes will be unveiling their retired list soon, so if there are some sets you want, you will want to stay tuned before you miss out on the opportunity! Once they're gone ~ they're gone! I used a Spellbinders Classic Heart die template to cut the heart shape. Except for the Vellum, the ENTIRE card was made using Flourishes beautiful, heavy weight White Card stock.
For sketch inspiration, I played along with iSpy Sketches:
Here's a photo from our wedding day taken 8 years ago on June 15th on the beautiful island of St. Lucia. We were laughing so hard because Scott has a couple bulging discs in his back from years of playing high school and college football, he nearly dropped me in the water!
I've NEVER made an ALL white card before so I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge! I hope you ink up your stamps, especially ones from Flourishes and join in the fun! Please be sure to visit the Flourishes blog for complete details and for some fabulous inspiration visit our June Guest Designer: Alice Wertz and the entire DT: HeatherSilkeMakikoCindyBeateAmanda

She Loved New Beginnings... 40

Mona Pendleton | Friday, March 30, 2012 @ 11:00 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! Hope you are having a great weekend! Scott and I both had the day off from work Friday so we went to the movies to see The Hunger Games. It was a good movie but I have to admit, I prefer a good "chick flick" :) I had some "me" time so I made this page in my art journal using a variety of products, many from the Pink Paislee Spring Jubilee collection:
I gave my girl a long braid, (one of the many things I learned from taking Christy Tomlinson's She Art workshop) along with a painted posey:
The butterflies were cut out from a pretty piece of Spring Jubilee patterned paper. For a little texture, I added a few dots of puffy:
I tore a Collage Card from the Pink Paislee Spring Jubilee in half, adhered it to the page then layered ink, paint and rub ons on top of the patterned paper. I used a journaling pen to highlight the preprinted"spring was calling" sentiment:
I incorporated a lot of stamps from the Spring Jubilee including the beautiful butterfly / sentiment shown below on her dress:
For color inspiration, I played along with the current Colour Q Challenge:
Thanks so much for visiting ~ hope you have a wonderful weekend! Be Sweet :)

Oh Christmas Tree...CR84FN44 75

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, December 3, 2011 @ 9:55 PM | , , , , , ,

Hi there! Are you all ready for the Holidays or are you scurrying about like me, tidying up loose edges??? So much to do, so little time! It's time for an all new CR84FN Color Challenge which will wrap up 2011 for the CR84FN DT! We will resume Sunday, January 1st ringing in 2012! I would like to thank Mackie Robertson for sharing her awesome creativity with all of us! For the next week, we will be playing with the pretty color combo shown below. The beautiful photos used to create the color graphic are courtesy of Leslie at a creative mint.
Using various pretty patterned paper from the Pink Paislee digital Holiday Magic paper pack, I made a Christmas tree decoration which may also be used as a gift box for that special someone!
I think the most time consuming step was making all the Poinsettias but I love the soft look so it's worth the extra effort.
I topped the tree off with a glittery star made from Vintage Vogue ~ Tailored Suit patterned paper. After die cutting the paper using a Stars Five die template, I adhered a mini dowel between the layered star, outlined with sparkly Stickles followed with a coat of glitter:
In case you are curious about how I made my Christmas tree, here are a few easy steps to follow to get you going. First you will need a styrofoam cone, a wooden spool, a paper mache box, patterned paper and Mod Podge (not shown).
For the tree, tear printed paper into random size pieces, adhere to styrofoam cone using Mod Podge. Allow to dry then decorate as desired. For the paper mache box, paint edges with white acrylic paint, cut and adhere patterned paper to box bottom and lid. Ink edges with Distress ink and adhere glitter to lid.
Thanks so much for visiting! Hope you liked my project and if you make one, please feel free to email a photo to me :) For COMPLETE details, please visit the CR84FN site and for some fab inspiration, please be sure to visit the CR84FN designers and our current guest designer: Mackie Robertson (Guest Designer),  Suzanne CzosekLisa SomervilleStephanie KraftSue LelliDeborah FringsAndrea Mathews, Heather Jensen

My 1st Mixed Media Art Journal Page 53

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, October 27, 2011 @ 12:30 AM | , , , , ,

Hi there! Hope you are all having a wonderful week! I'm really excited to have completed the first page of my newly started Art Journal. I've been wanting to take time to explore the world of Mixed Media and have finally made time to do so :) I've been admiring the work of a few various Mixed Media artists especially the ever so talented Roben-Marie. I stumbled upon her blog and instantly fell in love with her style so I signed up for an on-line workshop (Art Journal Conversion) and have been addicted ever since! If you are looking for either some amazing inspiration or are interested in learning some fun techniques, I highly recommend checking out what Roben-Marie has to offer! When you are there, please tell her I sent you :)

So here's Page 1 of my Art Journal:
I created this page, by mixing a boat load of various spays, inks, acrylic paints, molding paste and oil pastels. I love
I love the big purple heart! I used a Spellbinders heart die to make a stencil then using Liquitex Molding Paste, I spread on a "generous" amount to create the textured, 3D heart and various sized circles.
It wasn't so easy to capture the dimension in a photograph but it looks pretty neat up close and personal in my opinion :)
I had so much fun getting all inky and learning some new techniques. I can't wait to complete page 2! Thanks so much for looking ~ I hope you have a great day :)
Be Sweet!

Pink Paislee Hot hues October Inspiration 53

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, October 25, 2011 @ 8:37 AM | , , , ,

***I have TWO posts today ~ If you are looking for my Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge post, please continue to scroll down or click HERE ~ thank you :)

Hi there! Today I am sharing this project that I made as a Guest on the Pink Paislee blog. I would be tickled pink if you checked it out there as well :) (click HERE):

Such an awesome color palette that coordinates wonderfully with the Phantom collection!
Although the Phantom collection contains many products that may be used to create projects year round, I was inspired by this fab graphic to create a Halloween mini album that is jam packed with Phantom goodness.
Starting with the cover, I stamped a few images using Phantom - Clear Stamps above and below a ticket  shaped sticker from Phantom – Element Stickers:
The Phantom – Element Stickers pack contains so many spooktacular stickers! The page shown below features another ticket shaped sticker and a stamped cameo image:
I embellished this page featuring my step daughter Meredith with a home made rosette made using a piece of Phantom Pattern Paper – Apparition featuring a beautiful brad from Phantom – Brads and a piece of black lace from Vintage Vogue - Ribbon Trim:
Lovin' the variety of patterns from the Mistables - 12 x 12 Paper and how easily color may be added, making them totally customizable for ANY project. The page below features an inked green "honey comb" patterned Mistables paper with a fun image from Phantom - Clear Stamps:
I made a little sentiment banner by stamping the Creepy image from Phantom - Clear Stamps on a piece of Claudine Hellmuth's sticky back canvas:
Having a blast creating with Mistables - 12 x 12 Paper, I die cut this Spooky house, painted the pieces then stitched them on the page and topped it off with the HAUNTED sticker from Phantom – Element Stickers:
Lastly, this page features the ornate large SPOOKY sticker from Phantom – Element Stickers:
LOVE how the black acrylic paint makes the beautiful embossed patterns on the Mistables - 12 x 12 Paper pop:
Remember the Phantom collection contains many products that may be used to create projects year round making it another versatile Pink Paislee collection!

I hope you enjoyed my project today and are inspired to play with the October Hot hues colors! Looking forward to seeing what you create! Please remember to link your project here and upload it to the Live Pink Gallery as well. Be Sweet!

Home Sweet Home...CR84FN38#2 59

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, September 17, 2011 @ 8:55 PM | , , , , , , , , ,

Hello! Hope you are all having a fab weekend! I'm here to share a project I made for the second week of the CR84FN38 Color Challenge. Today is also Day #3 of the September Waltzinmouse Stamps previews ~ you can check out all the details here. There's one more week left to play with the fun color combo shown below: (beautiful photos courtesy of Leslie at a creative mint).
I altered this inexpensive wooden birdhouse that I purchased at Joann's for $1! (sweeeet!)
I made the little heart banner using Spellbinders Hearts Punch templates for the Presto Punch featuring the HOME sweet HOME sentiment from the NEW Waltzingmouse A Cottage Home set that will be released Monday, September 19th.
To make the darling little bird embellishment, I pulled out a piece of Spellbinders Precious Metals Premium Craft Foil ~ Gunmetal and using the smaller of the two birds from Spellbinders Bird Sanctuary set, I cut/embossed then lightly sanded to reveal the lovely detail:
In case you were wondering how I created this project, shown below are a few pics I took along the way. I prepped the roofline by applying black Gesso and white Gesso to the roof trim and base.
Shown below are the 4 house panels, die and punch templates and the roof panels that were made using fun patterned paper using Pink Paislee Vintage Vogue collection ~ Eau De Parfume. After adhering all the panels and trim along the roof line, I sprinkled the roof with Melissa Frances Mica flakes and finished it off with the Home Sweet Home banner and foil bird die cut.
Thanks so much for looking! Please hop on over to CR84FN for COMPLETE details on how to join in the fun and for some awesome inspiration, please visit all the designers blogs listed below. Be Sweet!

Stamps: Waltzingmouse A Cottage Home
Patterned Paper:  Pink Paislee Vintage Vogue ~ Eau De Parfume 00542, retired Pink Paislee Parisian Anthology, Making Memories
Die Templates & Machine: Spellbinders Bird Sanctuary, Hearts Punch templates for the Presto Punch, Presto Punch Machine, Grand Calibur
Other: Melissa Frances Mica Flakes and Vintage embellishment, Maya Road trim

Pink Paislee's Guest ~ Tool School 54

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, September 15, 2011 @ 11:35 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! I'm very honored to have been invited by Rebecca Cross, Owner of Pink Paislee, to share a few projects during the months of September and October on the Pink Paislee blog! Today, I am sharing this project on the Pink Paislee site and would be tickled pink if you would visit me there as well and check out ALL the awesome DT inspiration! :)  I was assigned: Tool School category which is right up my crafty alley! I love using a variety of papercrafting tools while creating especially die templates. Using die templates along with various papers from the Vintage Vogue Collection and Mistables, I made this Painters Tray wall hanging for my sweet sister Tina featuring photos of her and a few of my brothers and sisters taken well before I was even born!
Starting with the upper left hand corner, using two different sized Spellbinders Blossom die templates, I made a layered flower embellishment, topped it off with a beautiful Vintage Vogue ~ Tin Tile and added a few leaves that were cut using three different sized Spellbinders Nested Leaves die templates. To create the pretty background panel, I sponged PTI Aqua Mist ink and Ranger Frayed Burlap ink onto a piece of patterned paper from the Mistable Collection, revealing the gorgeous embossed detail.
In the next panel, I made a fun little pennant banner using Spellbinders Nested Pennants die templates and a little scalloped heart embellishment. The word LOVE was cut from a piece of theVintage Vogue ~ Beauty Parlor patterned paper which is jam packed with words that may be easily used in any of your projects! To make the fun bottle cap embellishment, I used a Spellbinders Classic Circle Large die template to cut the 5 cent image from a piece of Vintage Vogue ~ Corner Boutique patterned paper. Worked like a charm ;) Notice the darling old-time ticket? That little beauty is from the Vintage Vogue ~ Ephemera pack which is jam packed of all sorts of goodies!
The next panel features one word that says it all "family"! Using letters from Wood Shop Alphabets ~ Timber and a bit of Ranger Spun Sugar Distress ink, I spelled out family. These wooden letters are so fun to work with! You can either leave them "raw" and use as is or easily add color by misting, painting, sponging, etc... I dotted the "i" using a pretty bejeweled button from Vintage Vogue ~ Jumbo Buttons then adhered it to an ornate layered label that was made using Labels Seventeen die templates and showcased it on a piece of sponged Mistable patterned paper.
Last up is the lower right hand side bottom panel and corner embellishments. The panel features a die cut spool embellishment which was made from Balsa wood using a die template from MFT Stamps. This coordinates wonderfully with the silhouette embellishment from Vintage Vogue ~ Chipboard Pops, the wooden spool top from Vintage Vogue ~ Spool Buttons and the Vintage sewing machine image from the Vintage Vogue ~ Ephemera pack. The background layered label was made using Spellbinders Grand Labels Four die templates. The corner has a sweet collection of layered flower embellishments made by combining patterned paper from both Vintage Vogue ~ Dress Shop and Vintage Vogue ~ Eau De Parfume. The two smaller flowers are held together with brads from Vintage Vogue ~ Brad Mix and the largest flower features a purple jewel button from Vintage Vogue ~ Jumbo Buttons. The Vintage Vogue ~ Jumbo Buttons are flat backed, making it super easy to adhere them to your project with ease. Using Papertrey Ink's Turing a New Leaf Collection die templates and vibrant Vintage Vogue ~ Taffeta  patterned paper, I made some foliage.
Shown in the photo below are the Spellbinders die templates I used to create the various embellishments:
some more,
and here is the spool die template from My Favorite Things and the Papertrey Ink:
Pink Paislee products used:
It's so fun to mix and match die templates from various manufacturers and may be cut using a variety of die cutting machines. I used a Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine but these die templates are also compatible with a Sizzix Vagabond, Big Shot and Provo Craft Cuttlebug to name a few. I hope you enjoyed my project today! Thanks so much for visiting and if you get a chance, please be sure to visit the Pink Paislee blog :) Be Sweet!
