a Thankful Heart... 44

Mona Pendleton | Friday, November 16, 2012 @ 3:26 PM | , , , , , , ,

Hi there! Hope you are having a great day / evening! I had the day off from work so I decided to play around with some of my favorite products ;) I made this small Autumn wall hanging featuring a sentiment from Inspired by the Front Porch - Fall and random stamped polka dots from LJD Darling Dots, .
My project came together rather quickly because I used embellishments that I had accumulated from previous made projects. I had some spare die cut leaves that were made using Die-namics Fall Leaves and stamped using a text stamp from Thankful Leaves. The heart canvas embellishment was made using Die-namics Hearts a Plenty:
I had a few left over pre die cut roses that were made using Die-namics Mini Royal Roses:

So many times I wish I had taken photos along the way so today I did just that. In case you were curious what my project looked like before I embellished it. I used the following beautiful heidi swapp Color shine spritzes: Tropicana Teal, Bronzer, Black Velvet, Sweet Cherry and Gold Lame
All the spritzes leave behind a gorgeous shimmer as shown below:
I like to place the embellishments on my project prior to adhering to see if it catches my eye :)
I hope you have a great weekend and enjoy whatever you do!

Thanks so much for visiting! I'll be back Sunday with a project to share for CR84FN67 ~ hope to "see" you then.

Be Sweet ;)

I'm in a NY State of mind...PDCC 45

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, October 18, 2012 @ 9:00 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! Are you ready for the weekend? I've been counting the days and the time has almost come! Scott and I are taking a trip to New York City leaving bright eyed and bushy tailed Saturday morning! I was born and raised in Up State NY and haven't been to the city since the early 90's. I'm looking forward to paying my respects at Ground Zero and taking in some beautiful sites all around the city.

I'm so excited and honored to be joining along as an Alumni Guest Designer over at The Play Date Cafe Color Challenge! They are celebrating their 3rd Anniversary with a BIG celebration that you surely don't want to miss! For COMPLETE details, please be sure to visit their blog ~ click HERE
Let me tell you, this color combination was quite THE challenge for me! I couldn't rely on patterned paper to help me with this one because I don't own any in this color spectrum. I made this rather clean and simple card simply by combining a few stamped images along with a dry embossed background. I think the stitching on the card was the most time consuming ;)
I stamped one of the lovely sentiments from MFT Inspired by Autumn on a die cut Natural cardstock tag that was made using Die-namics Tag You're It die. I stamped the pretty leaf images from MFT DC Thankful Leaves on coordinating Whip Cream cardstock die cut leaves made using Die-namics Fall Leaves
I wanted to play around in my art journal that has been sitting on the shelf, collecting dust and this is what I came up with:
I combined various sprays and inks, chipboard pieces, metal trinkets and manufactured paper flowers that have been sitting on a shelf in my craft closet for years!
For the splashes of gold, I used the heidi swapp Gold Lame Color Shine and for all the black, I used the heidi swapp Black Magic Color Shine
My card layout was based on the current Tuesday Morning Sketches:
Thanks so much for visiting ~ hope you join along in the fun! Have a great day/evening!
Be Sweet ;)

MFT October Die-namics Feature & Pep Rally 55

Mona Pendleton | Monday, October 15, 2012 @ 9:00 PM | , , ,

Hi there! Welcome to the September MFT Die-namics Feature & Pre-Release Pep Rally! Now that we've teased and tempted you all week long, it's almost time for you to shop for your favorite Brand Spankin' New products from MFT. But first... it's time for our Die-namics Feature and Pre-Release Pep Rally! The MFT Design Team has been busy creating jaw-dropping and inspiring projects for you, and we've saved the best for last. We've taken an in-depth look at this month's Die-namics, while re-visiting the amazing sets being released tonight at 10 PM EST RIGHT HERE in the MFT Boutique. And while we are at it, how about we make your life even easier with a "cheat sheet" of all that's new? Head over to the MFT Blog to print out a shopping list.

For today's project, I chose to focus on the beautiful Die-namics Fall Leaves while incorporating lots of other MFT goodness!

I purchased the wooden heart home decor piece from a local craft store, removed the manufactured embellishments and gave it a new look.
The pretty leaves were cut using Die-namics Fall Leaves then stamped with coordinating images from the Thankful Leaves stamp set. To create the pumpkin, I used multiple dies from Die-namics Oval STAX Set 1 to cut canvas and quilt batting, colored using Distress Stain, stitched around the perimeter of each oval, then adhered it to the wooden heart. The stalk was made using a  Die-namics Fishtail Flags Layers STAX and the pretty Natural Card Stock flourishes were cut using Die-namics Medium Leafy Flourish.
I added a few cardstock pine cones (see post/video HERE) that were made using Die-namics Mini Royal Roses.
I stamped a sentiment from Thankful Leaves on a die cut made using Die-namics First Place Award Ribbon Die and added a pretty die cut made using a die from Die-namics Framing Flourishes.
Shown below are the Die-namics that I used on my card today that are included in the October release:

MFT October Teaser Time Day 4 92

Mona Pendleton | Friday, October 12, 2012 @ 9:00 PM | , , , ,

Hello dear blogging friends! Welcome to the MFT October Teaser Day 4! I hope you are loving all these new MFT products as much as I am! Today we are introducing Thankful Leaves which coordinates beautifully with Die-namics Fall Leaves.

I have a few projects to share. First up, is a wreath FULL of MFT goodness that I made which has found a home on our family room fireplace mantle :)
I stamped the text image from Thankful Leaves on many leaves that were made using all three of the beautiful Die-namics Fall Leaves dies. I added a little texture by crumpling them in my hand then applied various Distress Inks. Besides the Die-namics Fall Leaves, the wreath contains lots of homemade cardstock pine cones using Die-namics Royal Rose and Die-namics Mini Royal Roses as well as rolled flowers made using Die-namics Rolled Flower die:
Notice the Sunflowers? They were made using the pretty Die-namics Sunflower dies and many rolled roses made using the following dies: Die-namics Large Royal RoseDie-namics Royal RoseDie-namics Mini Royal Roses.
I also have a card to share which features die cut leaves from Die-namics Fall Leaves but this time, I stamped the coordinating solid leaf images from Thankful Leaves on the die cut leaves followed with the leaf vein image.
I stamped a sentiment from Thankful Leaves on a die cut label that was made using Die-namics Sweet Stack Labels
The bottom Natural cardstock label was cut using another pretty shaped die from Die-namics Sweet Stack Labels and was stamped using the wooden board image from LJD Western Backgrounds.
Shown below are the Die-namics included in the October release that I used on my projects:

If you would like to see a short video on the steps taken to create the wreath I shared today, please feel free to watch the video that my dear sweet husband Scott ever so patiently filmed and edited for me :)

Thanks so much for visiting! I hope you enjoyed my projects! I'll be back tomorrow with more to share for Day 5!
