Waltzingmouse Stamps May Previews Day 1 50

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, May 5, 2012 @ 12:00 AM | , , , ,

Hello there! Lots going on today ~ not only is it National Scrapbooking Day but it Day 1 of the Waltzingmouse Stamps May Previews! Over the next 4 days, Claire, many of the WMDT members and myself will be sharing some inspiring samples featuring the new THREE stamp sets that will be for sale beginning Tuesday, May 8th in the Waltzingmouse Stamps store.

WARNING: this post contains LOTS of photos!!!

Today we are previewing: Half Pink Heroines ~ another Waltzingmouse stamp set that is FULL of so many versatile images and sentiments. First up, I have a layout to share featuring a photo of my sweet step daughter, Meredith.
Rather than journaling on my layout, (something I would not rather do), I inked up and stamped FIVE of the sweet girly sentiments:
I've been enjoying making lots of my own flowers lately using Spellbinders Rose Creations and Bitty Blossoms dies along with some foliage that was made using Tim Holtz Grunge board. If you are curious to know how I made those pretty raspberry and pink blooms, click HERE for the tutorial.
Next up is a She Art style mini book that I made for Meredith featuring Meredith ;) What teenager doesn't like a book dedicated to them about them?! :)

***NOTE: This mini book was made using LOTS of Waltzingmouse Stamps ALL listed below along with patterned paper from the Pink Paislee She Art collection.
So the story begins:
Before I started inking and painting this book, I rummaged through my Waltzingmouse Stamps, in search of all sets that had small bits and pieces to be used in lieu of rub ons ~ I was in stamp HEAVEN!!!
For layout sketch inspiration, I played along with the current Girlie Grunge challenge:

You will find COMPLETE info on Nina's blog. The challenge is to create a project featuring at least TWO die cuts ~ they don't have to come from two different die cut sets.

For my project, I created a page in my art journal using a variety of Spellbinders die templates along with fun patterned paper from the Pink Paislee She Art collection. I've combined several techniques that I learned from taking Christy Tomlinson's She Art Workshop.
To create the little houses I used a combined Spellbinders Home Sweet Home designed by Nina :) along with a heart die from the Mix'd Media Elements:

The sun was made using a combination of a Spellbinders Standard Circles SMNested Lacey Pennants and Nested Pennants:
and lastly, the butterfly shown below was made using a die from Spellbinders Fanciful Flight:

Easter Blessings 37

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, April 7, 2012 @ 4:29 AM | , , ,

Hi there dear blogging friends! I sure hope you have an amazing weekend! I was playing with my painting supplies last night and here is what I came up with:
I wanted to make a brightly colored Easter themed page in my art journal so I created with the fun Pink Paislee She Art collection:
To make the eggs, I adhered various strips of She Art patterned paper to a solid a piece of cardstock, then using a Spellbinders egg shaped die, I cut them. The background was created with many different paints and stencils. I'm entering this page in the current Second Floor Challenge which is to create using something new from your supplies that hasn't been loved. I pulled out my Neocolor 11 crayons/pencils that I've had for months now and put them to good use. I wish I would have photographed what it looked like when I first started this page! Next time for sure!
Thanks so much for visiting! Hope you have a terrific weekend and Happy Easter if you celebrate!
Be Sweet ;)

She Loved New Beginnings... 40

Mona Pendleton | Friday, March 30, 2012 @ 11:00 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! Hope you are having a great weekend! Scott and I both had the day off from work Friday so we went to the movies to see The Hunger Games. It was a good movie but I have to admit, I prefer a good "chick flick" :) I had some "me" time so I made this page in my art journal using a variety of products, many from the Pink Paislee Spring Jubilee collection:
I gave my girl a long braid, (one of the many things I learned from taking Christy Tomlinson's She Art workshop) along with a painted posey:
The butterflies were cut out from a pretty piece of Spring Jubilee patterned paper. For a little texture, I added a few dots of puffy:
I tore a Collage Card from the Pink Paislee Spring Jubilee in half, adhered it to the page then layered ink, paint and rub ons on top of the patterned paper. I used a journaling pen to highlight the preprinted"spring was calling" sentiment:
I incorporated a lot of stamps from the Spring Jubilee including the beautiful butterfly / sentiment shown below on her dress:
For color inspiration, I played along with the current Colour Q Challenge:
Thanks so much for visiting ~ hope you have a wonderful weekend! Be Sweet :)

Supplies Used:

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, March 3, 2012 @ 11:05 PM | , , , , , , ,

Hi there! It's been a busy weekend for my family! How about yours? Meredith had horse riding lessons early Saturday morning and while she rides, Tina and I get on average a 15-20 mile bike ride in. While I was with Meri, Scott was with Connor who had his first High School Track and Field Event. Here's a photo of Connor, (the one with the fro :), running the  4 x 100m relay:
and here's another of Connor while in action taking off the starting block:
The Track and Field event started at 10:00 am and lasted until to 7:00 pm. Meri and I met up with the boys at the event in the afternoon. It was a boat load of fun and excitement :)

It's time for week two of the CR84FN49 Color Challenge and we will be playing with the colors shown below:
I was inspired to pull out my art journal and make a She Art page:
I gave this girl an up do:
On this page, I had lots of fun doodling. I dug into my stash of stamps and pulled out two Stampin' Up stamp sets: Doodle This & Doodle That. I purchased the stamps probably ten years ago ~ one which never even kissed an ink pad! YIKES! I am so thankful I hung on to them because surely, I will ink them up again. I went a little wild with the white puffy paint:

Creative with Quotes (Pink Paislee She Art) 55

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, February 23, 2012 @ 6:30 AM | , , ,

Hi there! Today I am sharing a project that I created for the Pink Paislee blog based on this week's  theme "Creative with Quotes". I would be tickled pink if you would visit the Pink Paislee blog (click HERE) as well :)
I created a canvas using mainly products from the newly released Pink Paislee She Art collection designed by Mixed Media artist, Christy Tomlinson. The She Art - Truth paper is FULL of some of my favorite quotes including "She didn't care if it was perfect". I think as designers, painters, artists, crafters, etc... we need to remember that our projects don't NEED to be perfect. It's ok to make a mistake, it's an opportunity to learn. If you don't like something, simply paint over it! :)
The She Art collection contains so many products making it so easy to create a mixed media project and so much more! To create my girl's dress, I combined the Courage polk a dot design along with the Soar multicolored/patterned design. Using fun designs such as criss crosses, scallops and zig-zag stitches from the Press Ons Rub Ons Doodle Art Stitches.
I added a bit of dimension and texture using the Vintage Doily Mask along with molding paste. What a fun and wonderfully designed stencil don't you think? I also used Press Ons Artsy Textures which add another layer and fun patterns.
In case you are interested to see how I created this canvas, shown below are some of the steps taken along the way. First I cut various pieces of patterned She Art papers and adhered it to the canvas.
Using the Vintage Doily Mask as my pattern, I applied molding paste to add dimension and texture:
Once you fill in desired area of the stencil with molding paste, gently lift up and remove the stencil revealing the gorgeous design. Allow to dry completely.
Thanks so much for visiting! Hope you enjoyed my project :)
