I'm thinking pink! 30

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, October 6, 2016 @ 12:11 AM | , , ,

Hi there! Today I'm thinking pink in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness month! I have a few projects to share showcasing my support for my dear sister who is currently battling end stage metastatic breast / brain cancer and all the other men and women around the world who are dealing with this terrible disease. Mammograms
First up is a layout that I created featuring my sweet sister and her dear daughter that was taken this summer:
I used a variety of Prima products including pretty papers, flowers, resin embellishments, stencil, texture paste, etc...

For sketch inspiration, I joined along with Prima's October Build A Page sketch challenge:
I also made a card for my dear sister. I'm joining along with this week's PTI Make It Monday challenge where Amy is challenging us to create a project featuring a background built with frames.
I don't own any PTI frames so I used a couple of various PTI dies to create my own:
The embellishments were also made using various PTI dies and the sentiment is from the Vintage Linen stamp set:
For color inspiration, I joined along with the current ColourQ challenge:
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Together 29

Hi! Happy New Year! Since it's the beginning of the month, there's two new monthly challenges up on the Prima blog. Today I have a layout to share for the January Prima Build A Page sketch challenge: (I flipped the sketch)

I scrapped a layout featuring a photo of my dear son and DIL that was actually taken prior to them getting married. I used a variety of Prima products including the pretty papers from the new Salvage District collection:
One of the many things I love about the new Salvage District Collection paper is the pretty shades of gray. I’ve layered a couple pieces of pretty patterned sheets from the Salvage District Collection then added texture and color using modeling paste, gesso, the Rattan stencil along with Soft Teal and Iris Color Bloom Spray Mists. Once the background was complete, I embellished with a combination of wood and flower embellishments.

Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you have enjoyed my layout and are inspired to join along! Please be sure to stop by the Prima blog and see the awesome DT inspiration!

ENJOY 39

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, August 8, 2015 @ 1:43 PM | , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are having a great weekend! As soon as I returned home from vacation I was on a run of sharing design team assignments. Today I have a layout to share that I made just for the sake of being creative :)
For sketch inspiration, I joined along with the Prima August Build A Page Sketch Challenge:
I scrapped a photo of Meredith that was taken approximately 15 years ago or so:
To create this layout, I started with a 12" x 12" piece of watercolor paper. Added texture and design using the Flower stencil along with Opaque Matte Modeling Paste. Once dry, I randomly sprayed Iris Color Bloom Spray Mist followed with LOTS of sprayed water dabbing up the overflow with a baby wipe and drying with a heat tool.
Once dry, I swiped Iris Color Bloom Spray Mist followed with White Gesso across the top to make the swoosh and the lower right corner.

I embellished with a sweet owl, die cut doilies and lots of blossoms:

For color inspiration, I joined along with the current Colour Me...! Colour Challenge as well and for theme inspiration, I joined along with the Try it on Tuesday challenge where the theme is to use stencils:
Prima Products used:
573744-Iris Color Bloom Spray Mist, 962618-Berry Micro Beads, 548667-Whisper Collection Moulin, 961442-Heavy White Gesso, 961350-Opaque Matte Modeling Paste, 584085-Metal Diecut Emmanuelle Fleurs,  Prima Floral Embellishments, 170493-Hydrangea Petals, Lavender, 557614-Prima Flowers, 584047-Parisian Lace Diecut, 572150-Flower Stencil, 892593-Shabby Chic Treasures Owls

Many thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great weekend!

celebrate 28

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, July 4, 2015 @ 10:51 AM | , , ,

Hi there! Happy 4th of July to all my blogging friends who celebrate! It's time for Prima's monthly Build A Page sketch challenge and this month I'm joining along as an official Prima Design Team Member! Yipeee! In case you are not familiar with the Prima monthly challenges, there are just two simple rules: 1. Use as much Prima as possible (and only Prima flowers please!) 2. Enter before midnight on the last day of the month! You have ALL month to play!
I decided to show my patriotic spirit and create a mixed media layout in celebration of the 4th of July!
I started with a pretty piece of paper from the Epiphany collection:
I applied a nearly a solid coat of White Crackle Texture Paste then allowed it to dry and works it's magic. Additional design and texture was applied using stamps, embossing powder, white gesso and the floral petites stencil:
I trimmed and framed a small photo of the Statue of Liberty that was taken several years ago when we were visiting NYC:
USA was spelled out using Heavy Black Gesso along with the Alphabet stencil:
I embellished with the following: die cut stars that I added texture to using a crimping tool:
A trio of stamped / fussy cut butterflies and of course a variety of Prima flowers:

I'm entering this layout in the following challenges: For colour inspiration, I joined along with the current ColourQ colour challenge:
Stamps and Stencils challenge where the theme is Happy Holidays
~ The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge where the theme is Summer Days (a summer day celebrating the 4th of July!)

Prima products used: Heavy Black Gesso 96149, White Crackle Paste 961503, Stencil Alphabet 962296, Glass Beads Turquoise 962678, Glass Beads Ruby 962661, Glass Beads Crystal 961671, Rust and Dust Cling Mounted Stamps 962050, Epiphany Clear As Day 846855, Lyric Collection 845674, Floral Petites Stencil 580049
