Hello there 150

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, May 15, 2018 @ 6:32 AM | , , ,

Hi! Today I'm joining along with the PTI May: Create Along With Us challenge which allows anyone to select something that a PTI team member has created during the release that inspired you, and create your own version. I was inspired by Heather's fun card show below:
Here's my interpretation:
I combined several stamp sets to create my card including PTI Gran's Garden, PTI Background Basics: Newsprint, PTI Turning a New Leaf, etc...
For card sketch inspiration, I'm joining along with the FabFriday challenge:
I also have a 16" x 20" oil painting featuring a garden of peonies inspired by Bill Inman:

happy Birthday to you! 12

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, September 7, 2016 @ 11:48 PM | , ,

Hi there! Today I have a couple of projects to share featuring peonies. First up is a birthday card that I made for my dear MIL who will be celebrating her birthday this Saturday, September 10th. I used her favorite two colors pink and green.
I inked up the pretty peony image from PTI's Pretty Peonies stamp set:
For card sketch inspiration, I joined along with the current retrosketches sketch challenge. While typing this post, I realized I completely forgot to glue on the sequins! LOL Oh well, at least the card should arrive in her Louisiana mailbox by Saturday :)
Up next is my painting for Day 6 of 30 in 30:
I was in the mood to paint some abstract flowers so I painted this 8" x 10" canvas featuring a few silk peonies in a blue glass jar:

Here's my source of inspiration:

brilliant peonies 19

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, August 10, 2016 @ 6:32 PM | , ,

Hi there! It's week 3 already of a 5 week painting e-course that I am currently taking presented by one of my favorite impressionistic floral artists, Nancy Medina. This week, we are learning how to paint brilliant peonies. Here's my first attempt on a 12" x 12" canvas:
I really enjoy painting and I'm determined to improve my skills but I have to admit, it's seems like I'm going nowhere fast! Practice, practice, practice just like anything else...

Here's what the "under painting" looked like in the transparent layer stage before applying the opaque paints:

A Peony and Roses 24

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, March 26, 2016 @ 9:31 AM | , , , ,

Hi there! Thanks to those for keeping my sister in your thoughts and prayers. Haven't received an update from my BIL in a couple of days regarding my sister but as the saying goes, no news is good news. Surely she is resting and gaining her strength. I'll keep you posted. Today I have a 11" x 14" painting to share that I painted using Heritage Acrylic Paints.
I painted this as I followed along with David Jansen's Paint It Simply's Peony and Roses Quick Compositions video tutorial. It's my first time painting with these paints and for me personally, there is definitely a learning curve. I don't want to throw in the towel just yet. This painting was painted using only 6 colors of paint on my palette. The variation in shades and values came from mixing the 6 basic colors.
I definitely have A LOT of room to grow but I'm having fun with the creative learning process and everyone has to start somewhere. All of my favorite artists including David Jansen remind me of the same thing, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE...

I'm linking this to Paint Party Friday~
Many thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Be Sweet ;)
