Wishing you a Lovely birthday 28

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, June 22, 2017 @ 9:26 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! It's been awhile~I'm still here just not posting on my blog. I needed a birthday card for a dear friend so I decided to join along with this week's PTI Make It Mondays challenge where the challenge is to create a Pantone chip inspired card.
For the focal point, I stamped one of the pretty flowers from the PTI Vintage Linens stamp set:
Here's the pantone paint chip that I used to create one of the layered rectangles:
For sketch inspiration, I'm joining along with this week's CAS(E) sketch challenge:
I've been practicing painting landscapes lately and have a few to share. The first one up was inspired by a lesson offered by Julie Gilbert Pollard:
The next two paintings were inspired by lessons offered by Bill Inman:

Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great weekend!

Happy holidays 21

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, October 11, 2016 @ 7:40 PM | , , , ,

Hi! Hope you are having a great week! Today I'm joining along with the PTI October Release Create Along With Us challenge where we are challenged to select something that the DT team has created during the release that inspired us and create our own version.
I was inspired by this beautiful card created by Betsy Veldman:
Here's my interpretation:
I combined a couple different PTI stamp sets including the PTI Wreath For All Seasons along with The Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers. For the focal point, I stamped then heat embossed the twig wreath from the Wreath For All Seasons stamp set:
Since it was rather a clean and simple card to create, I created a set of 4:
For sketch inspiration, I joined along with the current RetroSketches sketch challenge:
Up next is an 8" x 10" painting that I painted for my sweet sister who loves hummingbirds:
This is my first attempt at painting both hummingbirds and hollyhocks. I'm up against the clock to get this painting in the mail to my sister because her birthday is October 25th and she is the dear sister who is battling terminal breast / brain cancer.

a trio of luminescent poppies 24

Mona Pendleton | Monday, June 20, 2016 @ 6:42 PM | , , ,

Happy Summer! I've been practicing painting poppies AGAIN. This time, I painted a trio of luminescent white poppies on an 11" x 14" canvas panel inspired by a lesson in The Beauty of Oil Painting book by Gary Jenkins.
After painting and repainting each poppy 2 or 3 times, I stepped away and called it complete. I can see where I need improvement so on to the next. Each brush stroke is quite a learning experience.
