Inspire 20

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, March 14, 2018 @ 9:25 AM |

Hi! Today I'm sharing a mixed media canvas featuring a variety of fun techniques including stamping, stenciling and dripped candle wax which was a first for me.
Up close, you can see the dripped wax in various places such as on the butterfly wings and randomly on the metallic embellishments. I was inspired to give the dripped candle wax by the Stamps and Stencils challenge: wax lyrical:
I randomly stamped and heat embossed a doily image using versamark and gold embossing powder:
I randomly added texture using a stencil along with sand texture paste:
For color inspiration, I'm joining along with the Mixed Media Place February challenge:
I'm also linking my canvas to the Paint Party Friday site where they are celebrating their 7th birthday:
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hi! Today I have two different types of art projects to share. First up is a mixed media style small 4" x 6" canvas featuring a couple of die cut tree silhouettes.
I combined many techniques and products to create this smaller project including die cuts, acrylic paints, stamps, micro beads, glass glitter, tissue paper and for the most fun step, I melted several layers of thick embossing enamel on top and sprinkled in some glass glitter and micro beads:
I'm joining along with the following challenges: A Vintage Journey where the theme is "Melt it" (the multiple layers of embossing enamel were melted on) and for color inspiration, I'm joining along with the Mixed Media Place challenge where we are to be inspired by graphic shown below:
Up next is a 12" x 12" oil painting featuring a scene that was taken in Yosemite National Park and was inspired by Bill Inman. I'm entering this painting in the  30 paintings in 30 days challenge~Day 3:
I'm also linking my painting to the Paint Party Friday site:

Hi there! Today I have a mixed media style altered canvas to share featuring my sweet little girl Gretchen.
When I saw the theme for this week's  the Simon Says Stamps Monday challenge: It's A Dogs Life, I knew I had to join along in memory of my sweet girl who passed away this summer at the age of 11. Gretchen was my little fur baby who was always at my feet.
I added lots of texture to the background using a stencil and texture paste:
And embellished the canvas with a variety of metal trinkets and plastic baubles from my stash:

I'm also sharing my canvas with this week's Paint Party Friday site as well as the Altered Eclectics site:
Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great weekend!

Hi there! Today I have a few Christmas projects to share featuring die cut deer from the Tim Holtz Winter Wonderland die set. First up, is a rather clean and simple card featuring two of the smaller deer and the snowy die cut background:
I embellished with a die cut snowflake and stamped a sentiment from a PTI stamp set:
For sketch inspiration ~  Fusion Card Challenge:
Up next is a mixed media style Christmas tag featuring the largest die cut deer from the die set:
I used a combination of Sprays to create the blueish / green background then adhered the die cut forest which I had applied Distress Ink followed with a coat of Distress Glitter for an extra touch of shimmer and shine:
I'm entering the tag in the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge where the challenge is to create anything but a card.

Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great weekend!

a season of Blessings 21

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, September 24, 2017 @ 8:47 AM | ,

Hi there! One thing I miss about living in the northeastern US is the abundance of pretty fall foliage in my backyard. We are taking a road trip to Flagstaff located in northern AZ to soak in some of that natural beauty! With the change of seasons on my mind, I created a mixed media style Autumn art project featuring a homemade wreath on an 8" x 8" art board:
I was inspired by the September Mixed Media Place challenge moodboard for color:
To create the wreath, I die cut a collection chipboard of leaves, added lots of crackled texture paste then painted using a variety of glazes. In between the leaves, I tucked in some gathered twigs from my backyard :)
I embellished with a variety of metal trinkets:

I stamped and partially heat embossed a  sentiment using gold embossing powder. I wanted lots of texture on the background as well, so I using texture paste along with a stencil:
I'm also linking my project to the following sites: Stamps and Stencils challenge where we are challenged to use Metallics, Paint Party Friday and 30 in 30 Day 23.

Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!
