from the heart 42

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, February 2, 2014 @ 10:01 PM | , ,

Hello! It's time for an all new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! Thanks to all who joined along with last week's challenge! With Valentine’s Day just around the corner I’ve got love letters on my mind. Will you make a card with heart? Create a journal entry about someone (or something) you love? Perhaps use vintage postage as your latest inspiration… whatever inspires you – we can’t wait to see your love notes!

I was inspired to create a shabby chic Valentine's Day card. I combined pretty Melissa Frances patterned paper with a sentiment from Tim Holtz's Simple Sayings. For added texture and design, I embossed a piece of Butter Cream cardstock using the Honeycomb Texture Fade Embossing Folder:
My focal point is a beautiful die cut heart that I embellished with a Crinkle Ribbon bow and a Bitty Blossom.
Many thanks for visiting! Please be sure to visit the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT has created!

Happy Birthday Tina! 43

Mona Pendleton | Monday, February 25, 2013 @ 7:45 PM | , , , , , , , , ,

Hi there! Today is my dearest sister Tina's birthday! She is currently out of town traveling with her job so we have to celebrate when she returns. I made her this mixed media canvas board using a combination of MFT stamps, paints, markers, molding paste and chalk pastels.

I started by creating a collage of patterned paper on the canvas board, then using a mixture of paints, molding paste and a stencil, I added the damask design. Collaged and painted the vase then added the bouquet of MFT flowers that were made using the following stamp sets: MFT Inspired by Flowers Set #1 and MFT Inspired by Flowers Set #2. If you want to see a tutorial that I made creating a painted vase of flowers, please feel free to check out my tutorial HERE
I painted the Daffodils from MFT Inspired by Flowers Set #1, the Daisies and Roses from MFT Inspired by Flowers Set #2 using a variety of paints then outlined using a variety of Pan Pastels and Faber-Castell Pitt Pens. To complete my project, I swiped a layer of a few different colors of Pan Pastels over the background.
For texture inspiration, I referred to Christy Kinard's beautiful gallery and for color inspiration, I joined along with The Play Date Cafe:
Thanks so much for visiting! I hope you have a great Tuesday!

Hello! It's time for an all new My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch challenge! Thanks to all who joined along ~ so many pretty cards! For additional inspiration from participating DT members, please be sure to visit the MFT Blog.
Here's the fun sketch we are playing with:
I flipped the sketch vertically to accomodate a cameo image and frame made using Die-namics Vintage Cameo Frame Die & Stamp Set. I added a fancy die cut border using Die-namics Dizzy Border and finished the card with blossom made using Die-namics Mini Hybrid Heirloom Rose.
For a little added texture, I dry embossed the die cut frame then applied Distress ink.

some exciting news! 41

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, January 17, 2013 @ 12:05 PM | , , , , , , ,

Hi there! Just wanted to share some exciting news in my crafting world :) I've always said that getting my projects published is like winning the paper crafting lottery! I am so honored and thrilled to have been recently invited to contribute to the awesome Practical Publishing Simply Cards & papercraft magazine Issue 105 which is jam packed with inspiration from crafters around the world! The featured topic was "Get on trend" ~ I was asked what did I foresee as three trends for 2013 in the papercrafting industry.
The three trends I foresee holding strong are as follows:
1) Vintage ~ the sample below features MFT stamps, Die-namics dies along with Webster's Pages patterned papers:
2) Spritz, Sprays and Mists ~ the sample below features MFT stampsDie-namics dies along with Pink Paislee patterned paper and heidi Swapp Color Shine:
3) Resin Embellishments ~ the card below features MFT stampsDie-namics dies along with Melissa Frances patterned paper and resin embellishment.
After spending the past weekend at CHA with Scott, several members of the MFT family and other papercrafting friends, I think I may have hit the trendy nail on the head! :) Many thanks for stopping by and I hope you check out the latest issue of Simply Cards & papercraft magazine!

Hi there! So happy it's Friday! I have the day off from work and a million and one errands to run! It's been a crazy week for me. I had to have yet another crown placed on one of my molars :( ~ this over 40 something all what it's cracked up to be!

Today one of my cards that I made many moons ago is being featured on the Melissa Frances blog :) If you have a chance I would be tickled pink if you stopped by - click HERE. Thanks in advance :) I have made several and I don't have a clue which one it is so it will be a pleasant surprise for me as well!

I have a Christmas card to share with you today that I made using a beautiful sentiment from Seasonal Sentiments along with pretty patterned paper from the Melissa Frances Deck the Halls collection. I layered the sentiment on a die cut made using Die-namics Layered Label Die which was then layered on a doily die cut made using Die-namics Decorative Doily.
I finished it off with a Wild Cherry Poinsettia made using Die-namics Poinsettia
For sketch inspiration, I joined along with Tuesday Morning Sketches:

I stamped the Welcome sentiment from Inspired By The Front Porch - Fall on a die cut sentiment strip that was made using Die-namics Sentiment Strips then finished it off with a trio of stitched on Whip Cream buttons.

For sketch inspiration, I played along with The Sweet Stop:

Happy Birthday...CR84FN62 #2 43

Mona Pendleton | Friday, September 7, 2012 @ 7:32 PM | , , , ,

Hi there sweet blogging friends! Hope you are all having a great weekend! I'm here a day early with a few cards to share for the second half of the CR84FN62 Color Challenge! For the first time, we are having an open DT call! We will be adding several members to the DT so if you would like to be part of DT with super talented and sweet ladies, please be sure to visit the CR84FN site for COMPLETE details! The graphic was made using beautiful photos courtesy of magnoliarouge.com.
I needed two cards ASAP, one for my MIL who will be celebrating her birthday on Monday, September 10th and one for a dear friend. I have to admit, I took the path of least resistance and made two of nearly the same card, simply switching up the sentiments for the occasion. Why reinvent the wheel right? ;)
To make these cards, I used the Die-namics Flower Silhouette Die & Stamp Set. First I die cut the flower, stamped the flower image, colored with various Copic markers then added a layer of glitter. The sentiments on the front of the cards are from Finishing Flourishes.
I finished off the inside as well using sentiments from Die-namics Flower Silhouette Die & Stamp Set:
Here's the one for my dear friend. Pretty much the same, just a different background patterned paper from Melissa Frances, main sentiment on the card front from Finishing Flourishes
and a different sentiment on the inside from Die-namics Flower Silhouette Die & Stamp Set:
Thanks so much for visiting! Please be sure to visit the DT members for wonderful inspiration (listed on my side bar) and the CR84FN site for COMPLETE details.
Be Sweet :)

MFT Supplies Used:
Stamps: Die-namics Flower Silhouette Die & Stamp Set, Finishing Flourishes
Dies: Die-namics Oval Open Scallop Doily DUO, Die-namics Little Open Scallop Strip
Cardstock: Blending Card by X-Press It, 25 Pack, MFT Heavyweight Cardstock Kraft and Natural
Patterned Paper: background from Melissa Frances Attic Treasures
