Hello...Seize the Sketch #22 33

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, June 10, 2014 @ 5:00 AM | , , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are having a great week so far! Last week, Tina, Angie and I took a road trip to our home away from home in San Diego. We had so much fun and came home exhausted! We hiked around Torrey Pines State Reserve:
Angie
 Tina
We shopped at a beautiful Vintage Marketplace:
One evening, we took the Ferry from San Diego to Coronado then walked nearly 3 miles one way to enjoy an amazing bowl of ice-cream :)
Being that it's Tuesday, it's time for an all new challenge at Seize The Sketch
I combined beautiful papers from the Pion design My Precious Daughter collection to create my sample for this week's challenge.
I die cut the sweet image and layered her on a pretty square like die cut doily that was made using Spellbinders dies. The sentiment is from the MFT Winged Beauties stamp set:
Thanks so much for stopping by! Please be sure to visit the Seize The Sketch site for some fabulous inspiration from the DT.

Nature 43

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, February 2, 2014 @ 11:38 AM | , , , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are having a great weekend! Today I have a layout to share featuring a photo that was taken while we were visiting Jerry and April in San Francisco. Can you believe I actually used a colored photo rather than black and white??? I printed the photo in both variations but so much of the detailed brick and stone work seemed to have been lost in the black and white version.
To create the background, I started with a pretty piece of 13arts patterned paper, applied a thin coat of gesso. Once dry, I stamped a trio of Winged Beauties and the chickenwire design from Distressed Background Blocks. For texture, I applied the brick wall design using the Brick Wall stencil along with fiber paste followed with several different shades of pink paints. Once dry, I added more design using the Teardrop stencil:
I embellished with all homemade flowers and foliage using the following Die-namics dies: Die-namics Leaf-Filled Flourish, Die-namics Plentiful Petals and Die-namics Mini Rolled Roses:
For color inspiration, I joined along with Scrap Around the World:
while focusing on the color combo shown in this photo of the inspiration board:
and for sketch inspiration, I joined along with Once Upon A Sketch where the theme is "Addicted to..."
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you have a great week!

Pompeii... 33

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, December 1, 2013 @ 9:40 AM | , , , , ,

Hi there! Hope you are having a great weekend! It's time for a new sketch to play with at Once Upon A Sketch. After a fantastic year, my DT term has come to an end so this will be my last post as an official DT member. Thank you Nadia for the wonderful opportunity! This month we ask you to journal about "Your Favorite Month".

Here's the fun sketch that we will be playing with:

My favorite month is June because Scott and I love to take an annual summer vacation. I scrapped a photo of us that was taken while strolling the streets of Pompeii during one of our summer vacations.
I combined a variety of stamps including Winged Beauties and Distressed Background Blocks along with a variety of mists, paint and metallic rubs to create the background.
I embellished with a variety of die cut chipboard and paper die cuts as well as manufactured flowers:
For the title, I adhered a fun light bulb embellishment:

If you would like to take a stroll down a typical ancient Pompeii street, please check out this short video! Enjoy!

Thanks so much for visiting! Please feel free to visit the OUAS blog for some fab inspiration from the DT.

Happy Times 36

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, October 12, 2013 @ 11:12 AM | , , , , , , , ,

Happy Saturday! Hope you are having a great weekend! Scott and I went to see the movie Captain Phillips yesterday ~ oh my goodness ~ I was on the edge of my seat for nearly the entire movie! If you are up for a great suspense film which is based on a true story, I highly recommend seeing this one.

I had time to play this morning before going to get my eyes examined so I made a layout featuring a photo of Meredith and I that was taken several years ago at the top of the Haleakala Crater on Maui. After creating the background using pretty patterned papers from Prima's Lyric collection, I added some texture and design using the Scallops stencil followed with stamped chicken wire design from Distressed Background Blocks.
Once the background was dry, I embellished with a stamped clock from Timeless and a variety of homemade die cut flowers:
For the title, I stamped a sentiment from Timeless on a die cut piece then layered it on top of a die cut tag made using a Die-namics Pierced Traditional Tag die.
For sketch inspiration, I joined along with Prima's October BAP (Build A Page) challenge
Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great weekend!

Thinking of You 39

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, October 10, 2013 @ 5:39 PM | , , ,

Hi there! Happy the weekend is nearly here! While we were away last week, Scott and I went to see the movie Gravity in 3D and all I can say is it was AMAZING! If you haven't seen it, it really is a great one not to miss!

Being that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, I was inspired to create a card for my girlfriend who recently had surgery using the Die-namics Support Hope die. Thankfully she did not have breast cancer surgery but just thought that bra added an extra feminine touch :)
I layered the die cut bra on top of a background made using the Die-namics Modern Morocco die and stamped a sentiment from Winged Beauties:
For color and sketch inspiration, I joined along with the Fusion Card Challenge:
