Hi there! Today it's my turn to share an art journaling project on the Prima blogI was really inspired to create a couple of art journal pages featuring beautiful paper clay designs made from the iron orchid decor-Vintage Art Décor Moulds along with a variety of other fab Prima products.
I started with a collaged background using an assortment of pretty papers from the Salvage District Collection then added lots of texture using white crackle paste along with the netting stencil. Once the pages were dry, I randomly applied a variety of products including: Color Bloom Sprays, Mica powder and acrylic paint.

Valentine's Day tags and a tutorial 23

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, February 3, 2016 @ 9:41 AM | , , , , , ,

Hi! Love is in the air! Today it's my turn to share a few projects on the Prima blog. Please feel free to stop by and say hi HERE :) We were asked to create tags using a red, pink and white color palette along with adhesive rub ons and or foils.
created a couple mixed media tags just in time for Valentine’s Day featuring both:
I created a Valentine’s Day tag featuring an oil pastel water colored die cut heart which showcases a rub on I love you sentiment covered with gold foil. I stamped pretty flowers using oil pastels and embossing powder then layered with the foil sentiment along with a variety of stamped flowers, flower embellishments and a resin cupid.

The second tag is a bit more on the shabby side:
I combined pretty papers from the beautiful Salvage District along with a variety of beautiful blossoms and Micro Bead covered die cut hearts. For a splash of pink, I randomly splattered shimmery Metallique Vintage Rose acrylic paint to the background:

Here are a few steps I took along the way:
Step 1:
Die cut heart using watercolor paper using metal die. Trim adhesive rub on “I love you” sentiment from carrier sheet, apply to die cut heart then apply gold foil. Color with Red Oil Pastel then apply water using a paintbrush to “move” the pigment around. Dry and set aside.

Step 2:
Die cut watercolor paper using metal die. Apply Red Oil Pastel to solid part of floral stamp, lightly mist with water, stamp. Repeat process randomly until desired look is achieved. Stamp and emboss leaves.

Step 3:
Using a stamp from the IOD stamp set, stamp on a piece of watercolor paper, trim and distress around edges.

Step 4.
Assemble tag and embellish as desired. Enjoy :)

February's Prima Product Pick challenge combines the sweetest colors of soft pink, rich red, pure white (and a few shades in between) with dazzling products for an inspiring, love-filled board. Why not gather your Prima goodies and join in the fun?!

Vintage Decor 23

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, January 5, 2016 @ 9:54 AM | , , , , ,

Hi there! In case you didn't know, this week is the annual Craft and Hobby Association Mega Trade Show where many manufacturers in the business will be revealing their latest and greatest products. Today I have a project to share featuring one of Prima's new products: Iron Orchid Decor Designs Vintage Art Decor Moulds. Please feel free to stop by the Prima blog HERE and say hi! :)
I altered the small jewelry box shown below that I purchased from a thrift store for a couple of dollars:
Using the Iron Orchid Decor Designs Vintage Art Decor Moulds along with some clay, I created the beautiful ornate pieces. Once dry, I removed them from the moulds, adhered to the top of the jewelry box, painted with Americana Decor Chalky Finish Vintage paint then applied both Annie Sloan Dark Wax and Martha Stewart Clear Wax:
Thanks so much for stopping by. Please be sure to visit the Prima blog to see many more inspiring projects!

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, November 25, 2015 @ 9:52 AM | , , , , , ,

Today it's my turn up on the Prima blog in celebration of the 7th Day of Christmas.
We were asked to create a Christmas tag featuring Prima's IOD Oil Pastels.
I was going for a cold wintry Christmas theme so I created a tag using a cool color palette by combining the following beautiful Oil Pastels colors: Yellow Green, Sky Blue and Light Blue.
To create this tag, I die cut and layered various pretty papers from the Garden Fable collection, added lots of texture using Light Paste Opaque Matte medium along with the Honeycomb stencil followed with lots of color using oil pastels. I embellished the tag with a trio of die cut snowflakes that were colored using the Yellow Green oil pastel then coated with Pearl Glass Glitter along with a variety of beautiful Prima flowers and a sweet resin owl.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my tag. Please be sure to visit the Prima blog for loads of inspiration and to join along in one of the challenges! There are many beautiful and inspiring projects for you to check out and a variety of challenges to play along with as well of many prizes to be won! Check it out HERE.
