Thinking of you Emily 42

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, August 11, 2011 @ 10:52 AM | , ,

Hi there! I love getting away with my honey (and furry friends) but it's great to be home once again. Nothing like the comforts of home and having access to my crafty supplies ;) I needed to make a card for my step son's sweet girlfriend, Emily. Emily who is 18 years old had her 11th hip surgery this past Monday. Poor thing ~ sure hope this cheers her up :)
I pulled out one of my very first PTI stamp sets, Scattered Showers and FINALLY used the coordinating die that I shamelessly purchased months ago. I'm trying really hard to resist the temptation of just adding a bunch of stamps and dies to my collection and not using them! I am challenging myself to ink up the ones I have at least once! Let me tell you it is VERY challenging to say the least and I AM sure I am not alone???
For sketch inspiration, I played along with The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge.

Bold and Bright 57

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, April 7, 2011 @ 7:10 PM | , , ,

T.G.I. almost F.! :) I'm ready for the weekend, how about you? Do you have anything fun going on? I'm looking forward to seeing a funny movie with my hubby and step children ~ Who can't use a good belly laugh? :)

I made this Bold and Bright card for no other reason other than to thank all of you who are so kind to take the time to not only visit my blog but leave such sweet and encouraging comments. I realize that you have thousands upon thousands of blogs to visit so I am so grateful and thankful you choose to visit little ole' me :) I am very proud to say that I have never asked or required anyone to join along on my personal blog.
I challenged myself to use the bold and bright patterned paper from The Girl's Paperie. I stamped a label from Waltzingmouse Very Vintage Labels No. 18 then using a combination of Labels 18 and Classic Ovals SM die templates to create a frame to frame the THANK YOU Kindly sentiment from Waltzingmouse Fancy Phrases. The little motif is from Waltzingmouse Very Vintage Labels No. 4.

I hope Claire treats us all to an ENTIRE set of her beautiful motifs, both big and small. It's on my loooong wish list for Claire so maybe one day. Until then, I will just keep lovin' the ones I have :)
As a small way to Thank You for supporting me on my papercrafting journey, I have a little give away. I wish I could afford to give something to all of you but I can't :( I would love to share the packages of flowers shown in the photo below with ONE of you. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post and I will use Random.org to select ONE lucky commenter. I will announce the winner here on my blog on Sunday, April 10th. Winner will have 48 hours to contact me by email at mlpendleton@cox.net.
Good Luck ~ Thanks so much for visiting! Be Sweet :)

Happy Birthday Jerry and Connor! 45

Mona Pendleton | Monday, February 7, 2011 @ 1:08 AM | , , , , ,

Hi there! Hope you all had a great weekend! Did you watch the Super Bowl? While Scott enjoyed watching the game, I had fun creating a few "manly" birthday cards. I have such a mental block when it comes to creating "masculine" cards of sorts. I think if I had some "masculine" stamp images in my arsenal, it would surely help? Any suggestions? The men in my life are not into hunting or fishing, more like techie~computer/sports sort of guys. I made one for my son Jerry who will be 23 yrs old on Tuesday, February 8th and one for my step-son, Connor who will be 15 on February 16th.
I really don't like making two of the same card but since it was such a struggle to make a "manly" card in the first place, I figured why not? Just change up the patterned paper! YAHOO! As the saying goes, "kill 2 birds with 1 stone" :)
For sketch inspiration, I referred to the February Sketch For You To Try:
I paper pieced the cupcakes, coloring the bottom part with a variety of Copic Markers and using a piece of patterned paper for the top section. I cut out a few felt leaves and stitched those on along with a button as the cherry :)
Thanks so much for visiting today! Hope you have a great start to a new week! Be Sweet :)

hugs & kisses 48

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, February 2, 2011 @ 10:37 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! After reading the responses on yesterday's post here on my blog, I get the feeling that many of you are as excited as I am for the new Spellbinders dies! I was sorting through my cardstock and came across this darling Making Memories DP from last years Love Struck collection. The Waltzingmouse Teeny Trees  set immediately popped into my crafty mind :)
I first stamped an image from Waltzingmouse Vintage Circles, Small, then I stamped the teeny tree, bird and hugs sentiment from Waltzingmouse Teeny Trees in the center then used a S4-114 Standard Circles LG die template to cut/emboss the sweet scene :)
I think Claire's little bird from Teeny Trees is a perfect fit with the DP~isn't it darling?
The ticket shown above is from PTI Just the Ticket set and the heart in the center is from Waltzingmouse Sweethearts.

Be honest with me, are tired of looking at Valentine cards by now or are you finding inspiration to create one for your sweetie? :) Thanks so much for looking! Be Sweet :)
