Time To Be Creative... 38

Mona Pendleton | Monday, August 19, 2013 @ 9:00 PM | , , , , , , ,

Hi there! Welcome to the August MFT Design Team Creative Challenge! Just in case you are not familiar, the MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique.

This month, we are getting fuzzy with MFT felt!

I made this 12" x 12" mixed media quilt wall hanging featuring 4 out of the 24 pretty different colors of MFT felt along with many other awesome MFT products.

To create this hanging, I first made some inky muslin fabric using a variety of inks. Once dry, I cut, pieced and stitched them together to create the 8 colorful patches then the real fun began!
There are 8 squares embellished with die cut felt flowers, die cut items and stamped images. Three squares feature 3 different clock faces from Timeless. The background was stamped using Blu Raspberry ink along with the chicken wire stamp from Distressed Background Blocks then topped with a Sno Cone Rolled Rose and Jellybean Green Royal Leaves.

Two squares feature two kraft die cut butterflies ~ the bigger of the two has a Sweet Tooth Rolled Rose in the center. The background was stamped using Blu Raspberry ink along with the checkerboard stamp from Distressed Background Blocks.

Two squares feature two kraft die cut hearts along with a Cotton Candy flower and Jellybean Green Royal Leaves. The background was stamped using Blu Raspberry ink along with the polka dot stamp from Distressed Background Blocks.

Last but not least is one square which features a kraft die cut bird made using a die from Die-namics Homespun Birdhouse along with a Sweet Tooth Rolled Rose and a Jellybean Green Royal Leaf. For the title, I turned to one of the sentiments in Timeless. I randomly stitched on lots of buttons.

I stamped the cutie on a die cut that was made using a postage stamp STAX die, inked the edges with Kraft ink and added a sentiment along with two Natural buttons.
My next card features the beautiful Vintage Santa image from Inspired by Christmas which was stamped on a piece of Primitive Cream cardstock that was cut using a die from Die-namics Blueprints 5:
I completed the card with a faux bow and ribbon treatment featuring a variety of bits and pieces from the following Die-namics dies: Blueprints 5, 3 and 1. LOVE to mix and match various dies when I can!

Hi there! Welcome to the May MFT Creative Challenge! In case you are not familiar, the MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique.
This month, "April Showers bring May Flowers!"

MFT carries such an amazing assortment of flower making capable Die-namics dies it was challenging to narrow it down to just one, so I decided to make a card featuring a trio of various blooms using the following Die-namics dies: Die-namics Mini Royal Roses, Die-namics Mini Rolled Roses, Die-namics Rolled Flower
I stamped one of the beautiful butterflies from Inspired by Butterflies on a coordinating die cut made using Die-namics Inspired by Butterflies die and stamped a sentiment from MFT More Essential Sentiments.

Dream BIG...April MFT Creative Challenge 43

Mona Pendleton | Monday, April 22, 2013 @ 9:00 PM | , , , , , , , , , ,

Hi there! Welcome to the September MFT Design Team Creative Challenge! Just in case you are not familiar, the MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, we were challenged to build a scene using MFT Stamps and Die-namics.
I had so much fun with this month's theme! I created a fun spring scene on a 8 1/2" x 10" canvas board featuring the sweet girl from the MFT Doodle Garden Springtime Wishes stamp set along with a variety of Die-namics dies. I started by covering the canvas board using tissue paper and coloring with gelatos.
I stamped the little sweetie on a piece of Blending Card as well as a piece of patterned paper. I colored the image and paper pieced her dress. She is standing in front of a white fence made using Die-namics Lattice Fence. The grass was made using Die-namics Grassy Edges.
She is flying a kite that was die cut using Die-namics Jumbo Kite:
Nothing like a sunshiny spring day to fly a kite ;) I combined a few dies to create the sun: Die-namics Award Seal, Die-namics Fishtail Flags Layers STAX and Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX:
I stamped a sentiment from MFT Big Greetings and created puffy clouds using Die-namics Jumbo Cloud STAX
I wanted to add texture so I die cut a doily using a Die-namics Dizzy Doily Duo die and used as a stencil as I applied a mixture of texture paste and white acrylic paint over the die cut. The white random dots all over the canvas were stamped using white acrylic paint along with a stamp from MFT LJD Darling Dots and the random text was stamped using a stamp from MFT DC First Class Friend.
Thanks so much for visiting! I hope you enjoyed my canvas as much as I enjoyed creating it! Remember to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all participating designers who have put their MFT stamps and Die-namics dies to work to create a scene for you to enjoy.

I finished it off with a Kraft cardstock die cut star that was made using a die from Die-namics Star STAX which I then added texture using my hand held paper crimper. I adhered a Whip Cream button on using a piece of Natural Hemp.

Dream...MFT February Creative Challenge 39

Mona Pendleton | Monday, February 18, 2013 @ 10:00 PM | , , ,

Hi there! Welcome to the February MFT Design Team Creative Challenge! Just in case you are not familiar, the MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique.
This month, we were challenged to create projects using a "clean and simple style" - without the use of any pattern paper. Yep, needless to say, this was quite the challenge for me but I'm always up for a great challenge so I pulled out a variety of MFT stamps, inks, buttons and Die-namics dies and had a boat load of fun! :)

First up, is a card featuring a trio of stamped / die cut butterflies that were made using a combination of the butterfly stamp from Die-namics Tag, You're It Die & Stamp Set along with one of the butterfly dies from Die-namics Butterflies
The sentiment is from Die-namics Let's Toast Die & Stamp Set. The butterflies were stamped using the following MFT inks: Sno Cone, Kraft, Jellybean Green.
The next card features a beautiful stamped die cut butterfly that was made using Inspired by Butterflies along with a coordinating Die-namics Inspired by Butterflies die. Both the butterfly and sentiment from Finishing Flourishes were stamped using MFT Black Licorice ink.
I layered the butterfly on a gingham stamped / die cut label that was made using Die-namics Well Worn Greetings Die & Stamp Set. I topped it off with a Whip Cream button and Pink Lemonade rolled rose that was made using Die-namics Mini Royal Roses.
I really went super simple with this one ~ not even a stitch! LOL This card features a stamped / die cut label that was made using Die-namics Polka Dot Greetings Die & Stamp Set which I layered on top of a library card that was made using a stamp from LLD Journal It - Library Card and coordinating die cut made using Die-namics LLD Insert It - 3 x 4 Insert.
I finished it off with rolled rose that was made using Die-namics Mini Rolled Roses and Die-namics Royal Leaves.
Lastly is a garden full of hearts :) Seriously, could it get any sweeter than that?!
I stamped a trio of hearts using stamps from LJD Homespun Hearts on die cut coordinating hearts that were made using Die-namics LJD Rustic Hearts
