Time flies...OUAS March 41

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, February 28, 2013 @ 4:02 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! Since it is the beginning of a new month, that means it is time for an all new Once Upon A Sketch Challenge. Shown below is the fun sketch that we will be playing with all month and the theme is "It's the Weekend"
Almost Happy March in the US! It is currently March 1st here in Sydney where I am actually this weekend and will be for the next 5 days! Scott and I will be visting Australia and New Zealand until March 18th.

Nearly every other weekend, on Saturdays, Meredith has a horse riding lesson so I scrapped a photo of Meredith riding Dallas one Saturday morning.
I combined a variety of store bought flowers with various chipboard pieces that I had on hand. The scalloped circle on the right hand side is from the Blue Fern Studios Nested Circles Set.
I applied a layer to of embossing enamel to all the chip board pieces. Shown below is a beautiful butterfly large from Imaginarium Designs
The sentiment is another beautiful piece from Imaginarium Designs with a coating of pink enamel.
Thanks so much for visiting!  For some AMAZING International inspiration and complete details, please refer to the Once Upon A Sketch Challenge blog.

A few layouts for Blue Fern Studios 44

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, February 21, 2013 @ 1:00 AM | , ,

Hi there! It's my turn to share a few projects on the Blue Fern Studios blog today. I created a few layouts using the following beautiful Blue Fern Studios chipboard pieces: Nested Circles, Brigitte Butterflies and a Blue Fern Frame.

First up is a layout featuring a photo of sweet Angie and Connor that was taken nearly 10 years ago. I used a beautiful Brigitte Butterfly and a trio of Nested Circles.
I applied embossing enamel to each of the pieces of chipboard. What's not to love about the beautiful design of all the butterflies included in the Brigitte Butterfly Set?!

My second layout features a photo of Scott, Connor and Meredith. I used another beautiful Brigette Butterfly and a gorgeous ornate Blue Fern Frame.
The Blue Fern Frame is FULL of so much detail, I simply applied a coat of enamel, adhered a few embellishments then topped it off the layout with a pretty golden embossed Brigette Butterfly.

Shown below are the Blue Fern Products used on my layouts today:

Blue Fern Frame: 074325
 Nested Circles: 074455
Brigitte Butterfly Set: 074387

Enjoy...Blue Fern Studios Blog Hop 103

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, February 7, 2013 @ 10:00 PM | , ,

Hi there! Welcome to the first Blue Fern Studios Blog Hop! This hop is a biggie so I will get right to the details. It runs from today until February 10th, 2013, there's LOTS of amazing inspiration to see along the way and there is a wonderful GRAND PRIZE to be had!
I made an 8" x 8" canvas featuring a beautiful butterfly from the Brigitte Butterfly Set along with an elegant Blue Fern Flourish.
After creating the background with lots of modeling paste, stencils, paint and spray, I added a coat of embossing enamel to the chipboard butterfly then topped it off with a blossom.
I liked the way the pretty Blue Fern Flourish looked "naked" so, I left it as is and simply adhered a few blossoms in place.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you liked my project! If you are participating in the hop, your next stop will be Patter Cross. Happy hopping!

Love Lives Here...Blue Fern Studios Mixed Media Canvas 36

Mona Pendleton | Monday, January 21, 2013 @ 12:00 AM | , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are off to a great start of a new week! Today it's my turn to share a project on the Blue Fern Studios blog ~ please click HERE and stop by to say hi :) I made a mixed media canvas featuring several beautiful Blue Fern Studios chipboard pieces.
To begin, I randomly applied texture paste using The Crafter's Workshop Brick template then added color using a variety of inks, paints and sprays. Then I painted and added a coat of distress crackle paint to one of the pretty butterflies from the Brigitte Butterfly Set.
I framed my sweet furry friend Griffin with a beautiful Tuscan Window. I first painted the window using Gesso, once dry, applied a coat of distress crackle paint.
To add a pretty metallic finish to the two Blooming Flourishes and Royal Border, I first painted with a coat of Gesso then applied a coat of embossing enamel.

Blue Fern Studios Chipboard Used:

Brigitte Butterfly Set (074387)
Royal Border Large (074615)

Blooming Flourish (074509)
Tuscan Window (074752)
Thanks so much for visiting! I hope you stop by the Blue Fern Studios blog and take a look around at all the beautiful creations created by members of the DT!

I Love Us...CR84FN69 Week 2 55

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, January 5, 2013 @ 10:00 PM | , , , , , , ,

Hi there! Hope you are all having a great weekend! The weather has been beautiful here, sunny blue skies and temps above 60 degree. Perfect for hiking and biking which Tina and I  did yesterday :) I'm back with another project I created for week 2 of CR84FN69 using the pretty color combo shown below:
I made this layout featuring a sweet photo of Jerry and April that was taken on this past Mother's Day. I've been so sad, dreading the next few weeks because Jerry has accepted a job in San Francisco and is moving this coming Saturday :( I am really happy for him and know he is only a short distance away BUT those weekly lunch dates will be few and far between. He will be back to visit on his 25th birthday which is February 8th :)
I stamped one of the sweet sentiments from MFT LLD Document It - Off the Chart on a die cut strip made using Die-namics First Place Award Ribbon then layered on top of two die cut pieces made using Die-namics Layered Label Die. I framed the photo using a white washed Blue Fern Studios Leaf Frame.
I applied a combination of Distress ink and Rock Candy to three sprigs of foliage that are included with the Blue Fern Studios Leaf Frame then made various blossoms using the following Die-namics: Die-namics Winter Rose, Die-namics MINI Rolled Roses and Die-namics Royal Rose.
For sketch inspiration, I played along with Stuck On U Sketches:
Shown below are the Die-namics that I used on my layout today included in the MFT January release. You can read all about it here:

In this layout, I used the Blue Fern Studios Leaf Frame.
Thanks so much for visiting! Please be sure to stop by the CR84FN blog to see additional beautiful samples from several of the DT members. Hope you join along!

beautiful 35

Mona Pendleton | Monday, December 31, 2012 @ 8:41 AM | , , ,

Happy New Year's Eve to all! Certainly I'm not the only one scratching my head wondering where 2012 has gone?! Any big plans? We're just enjoying a relaxing evening at home. Doesn't get much better than that in my opinion :)

Today I have a few projects to share using some pretty chipboard pieces from Blue Fern Studios. First up is a layout featuring a photo of Meredith that was taken while riding at her most recent Dressage competition last month.
I applied embossing enamel to two gorgeous Organic Vine Corner - Large chipboard pieces then layered on a few blossoms from my stash.
Up close you can really see how intricate these pieces are:
I also made a Thank You card featuring a pretty butterfly from the Brigitte Butterfly Set. The sentiment is from MFT / Die-namics Umbrella Sentiments Stamp Set.
I applied enamel to the beautiful butterfly then layered it on a die doily made using a Die-namics Dainty Doily DUO die.
For the card sketch inspiration, I joined along with Freshly Made Sketches:
In the layout, I used beautiful Blue Fern Studios Organic Vine Corner - Large x 2
and featured on the card is one of the pretty butterflies from Blue Fern Studios Brigitte Butterfly Set
Thank you so much for visiting! I hope you all have a safe and fun New Year's celebration!
Be Sweet ;)
