Winter Wonderland...2S4Y66 47

Mona Pendleton | Monday, November 15, 2010 @ 8:00 AM | , ,

Hi there! Hope you had a great weekend! Time for another amazing sketch designed by Kazan for  2Sketches4You. CupCards To Go, who sells card kits to the public, is sponsoring this week's challenge and has provided the DT with various supplies to create our projects with. I used the following supplies to create this card: the DP, the white card base, the layered snowflake embellishment and button. Here's my take on Kazan's sketch:
I pulled out one of my favorite K&Company Holiday stickers, layered it on top of a square cut using a S4-128 Classic Squares SM die template and S4-295 Lacey Square die template. It's not so easy to see, but the white lacey square frame is made using white "non-shedding" glittery paper from Michael's Arts and Crafts that I mentioned the other day.  Admittedly, the vertical line down the left side of the card had me a little perplexed - so I put my sewing machine to good use and embroidered a strand of snowflakes :)
I have been lovin' making tags using a S4-246 Labels Eleven die template. I inked up the Holiday WISHES sentiment from Waltzingmouse Very Vintage Christmas then using a S4-246 Labels Eleven die template, I cut/embossed the image, inked the edges and attached to the bow.
That's all I have for today - thanks so much for visiting :) Please visit the 2Sketches4You site as well as all the 2S4Y DT gals for some awesome inspiration! Hope you join along in the fun :)

A Victorian Frame...2S4Y66 49

Mona Pendleton | Monday, November 8, 2010 @ 8:00 AM | , ,

Hi There! Time for another fabulous sketch designed by Laura for 2Sketches4You to challenge your creativity. Layers of Color Art Stamps is sponsoring this week's challenge and will also be holding a blog hop on their site (click HERE). Here's my interpretation of Laura's sketch:
To create my card, I used both Layers of Color Victorian Frame stamp and Layers of Color Belle Brocade art stencil.  I inked up that gorgeous Victorian Frame stamp with VersaMark ink, embossed with white embossing powder then using a S4-290 Labels Fourteen die template to cut/emboss the image. Layers of Color makes several stamps that coordinate with Spellbinders™ die templates! :) Once I had the frame made, I added another layer using a rub-on sentiment from K&Company.
Up close, you can see all the beautiful detail in the embossed Victorian frame. Notice the red & white ornate paper in the middle? Well, I made that using the Layers of Color Belle Brocade art stencil.
Here's a photo showing how I stenciled the middle layer:
All you need is some ink and a sponge dauber - super easy to create your own custom DP!

That's all I have for today - thanks so much for visiting :) Please visit the 2Sketches4You site as well as all the 2S4Y DT gals for some awesome inspiration! Hope you join along in the fun :)

Be Sweet!

Happy Thanksgiving...2S4Y65 37

Mona Pendleton | Monday, November 1, 2010 @ 7:00 AM | ,

Hi There! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I am here today to share my first card as a Design Team Member for 2Sketches4You. Kathy Martin of Digital Doodles is sponsoring this week's challenge and has provided the entire DT with digital images to showcase on our cards while keeping a Thankful/Thanksgiving theme in mind. Here is my interpretation of Kazan's awesome sketch:
I chose to create my card using the Happy Thanksgiving sentiment & pumpkin images.
After sizing the images to my liking, I colored them using the Copic markers shown below.
Using a S4-181 Petite Scalloped Ovals SM die template to cut/emboss the sentiment and a S4-189 Labels Three die template to cut/emboss the pumpkin image. I printed the pumpkin twice, cutting one out then layering it on the other for a lil' extra dimension.
Thank you so much for visiting today! Please be sure to visit the 2Sketches4You site for complete details regarding this week's challenge & to see all the amazing inspiration from the Design Team!

Happy Halloween 65

Mona Pendleton | Monday, October 18, 2010 @ 10:13 PM | , ,

Hi There! Hope you are all off to a great start of a new week :) While shopping at my favorite papercrafting store yesterday, I came across some fabulous finds! The DP used on this card was one of those findings. Combining this darling DP with a few Waltzingmouse Stamps and Spellbinders™ die templates, I created this Happy Halloween card.
I love to heat emboss so many of Claire's images because the detailed designs seem to appear like magic when inked up with VersaMark ink & embossed with white embossing powder! You can surely see the awesome decorative detail in the label from Very Vintage Labels No. 1 that coordinates perfectly with a S4-161 Labels One die template. Claire treats us to lil' motif stamps tucked within quite a few stamp sets (on my loooong wish list for Claire is an ENTIRE motif/flourish set ;) The beautiful ornate motif in the lower right corner is from Very Vintage Labels No. 2 and is an example of these gorgeous designs.

For sketch inspiration, I played along with week's fabulous sketch designed by Kazan over at 2Sketches4You.
After inking up the lil' witch image from Midnight Feast with Memento Tuxedo Black ink using a S4-116 Standard Circles SM die template, I cut/embossed the image then layered her on top of a multi-layered scalloped circle embellishment & finished it off with a lil' rosette.
Have you found any treasures lately while out & about??? That's all I have to share today :) Hope you have a terrific Tuesday! Be Sweet :)

A Friendly Reminder! 52

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, July 13, 2010 @ 10:20 PM | , , ,

Hi There! I would first like to remind all of you in case you were not aware that The Spellbinders Paper Arts Blog Frenzy Contest is currently in full swing as of July 13th! There are MANY prizes that will be given away so please be sure to visit the Spellbinders Blog (click HERE) for complete details. Good Luck!!!!

I am almost over feeling jet lagged & my sleep is nearly normal again. sigh... I had some time to play yesterday after work :) I love to sit with all those goodies spread out before me & create - I find it so relaxing - don't you??? This week, Spellbinders is sponsoring the weekly Friday challenge over at the JustRite Blog! The challenge is to ink up your JustRite Stamps & create a shaped note card under 4" - ooops! I guess I was just so excited to play, I realized as I am typing this post I stepped out of the boundaries :( My card is 4" x 6" - maybe I am not over the jet lag quite yet! The good news is, I have the day off from work today so I can rest :) Here is my oversized shaped card:

For sketch inspiration, I played along with Laura's awesome sketch over at 2Sketches4You which by the way is offering a guaranteed DT position to The Card Of The Week Winner!!! So ladies, if you are interested - be sure to visit 2Sketches4You for all the details! Once I had the images stamped & cut, I inked the edges & layered them on top of a scallop cut from a Big Scalloped Circles LG die template.

Up close you can see how nicely the various Spellbinders™ Standard Circles SM & LG die templates line up with the images from the JustRite Kaleidoscope Borders & Centers 2 3/8" Round set. Once I had the images stamped & cut, I inked the edges & layered them on top of a scallop cut from a Big Scalloped Circles LG die template popping a pearl right in the center!

I love the creating my own embellishments of sorts so the Spellbinders™ Timeless Heritage set is one of my faves! The embossed heart in the pic below is just one of the many items that you can create using this set.

Thanks so much for stopping by & please be sure to let me know if any of you win playing along in the The Spellbinders Paper Arts Blog Frenzy Contest! REMEMBER: You MUST play to win :) Be Sweet!

Almost Travel Time 30

Mona Pendleton | Friday, June 25, 2010 @ 10:00 AM | , ,

Hi Everyone! There has been some changes in my crafting corner of the world - you may have noticed I am no longer on The Play Date Cafe DT - I stepped down simply because I am going to do a lot of traveling this summer & I will be exploring other crafty opportunities. I am going to miss creating along side ALL the talented girls at The Play Date Cafe but I will surely visit & play along when I can & I hope you do the same :)

As I previously mentioned, I will be traveling this summer & have some fun trips planned with my hubby - Any guesses where I may be jetting off to? I will give you a clue - it is about a 19hr flight non-stop from Phoenix! My poor toes are going to look like Oscar Meyer Weiners! :0 LOL (if you already know where we are traveling, please don't give it away :)

For the background, I inked up the Judy Kin's, Carmen's Miranda stamp. I bought this stamp several months ago at a rubber stamp show & finally pulled it out! For sketch inspiration, I played along with Kazan's awesome sketch from 2Sketches4You.

For a closer look:

I combined several stamped images with some fun Karen Foster card stock stickers. I am really enjoying stickers these days - it is super easy when you don't have just the right stamp. I love that I can customize them making my own embellishments like the "time to TRAVEL" one. It's original shape was a square, since I needed a circle, I pulled out my Spellbinders™ circle die templates & voila :)

That's it for now - I have to run some last minute errands - Our journey begins this weekend - I will be back with some more details :) Thanks for looking! Be Sweet!

Supplies Used: Spellbinders™ S5-024 Mega Classic Scalloped Ovals LG, S4-172 Pinking Circles SM, S4-114 Standard Circles LG, S4-116 Standard Circles SM, W-001 The Wizard Stamps: Tattered Angels, Judy Kins Ink: Stampin' Up, Memento, Ranger Paper: Stampin' Up, Papertrey Ink Stickers: Karen Foster

Just for fun 44

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, May 5, 2010 @ 9:00 AM | , ,

Hi Everyone! Half way through the week already - sigh... I had some "me" time this morning so I thought I would have some fun & play along with 2 challenges :) The City Crafter Challenge Blog is now on it's 3rd challenge already & this week's challenge is to create a Terrific tag.

Here's my Terrific tag: I love making tags! It such a fantastic way to utilize scraps that I just don't have the heart to throw away because you just never know when you need just a wee bit! Drives my hubby nuts!!! :)

For sketch inspiration I played along with Laura's awesome sketch from 2Sketches4You.

This lil' tag was so easy to make. All I did was cut out the butterfly image, distress the edges then adhere it to a tag that was cut using a Spellbinders™ Nestabilities S5-019 Labels Eight die template, punch a hole & loop a piece of twine through.

A tag can easily take the place of a greeting card or dress up a plain bag - giving it the "wow" factor :) Would love to know if you ever adventure beyond a card & create tags? Thanks for looking!

Supplies Used:

Stamps: Waltzingmouse Sweethearts

Paper: graphic 45, K&Company, Papertrey Ink

Ink: Ranger Vintage Photo, Memento Tuxedo Black

Other: Spellbinders™ Nestabilities S5-019 Labels Eight, S5-006 Curved Rectangles, S4-189 Labels Three, W-001 The Wizard, Melissa Frances Vintage findings, pearl, ribbon, lace, brad & button from stash
