Sunday Stamps Challenge

There was a "wide open" sketch for this week's Sunday Stamps Challenge. I decided to go with a bit of a grungy collage look. I smooshed some distress inks onto Ranger water color paper (Peacock Feathers, Bundled Sage, Fossilized Amber) then stenciled some dots (Peacock Feathers) and burlap (Tea Dye) and stamped a freebie music stamp I got with my last Creative Worship Stamps order.

The gardenias and leaves were leftovers from a previous project. I used the torn banners die (Papertrey Ink) to cut the two strips from patterned paper that looked like burlap.

STAMPS: Wonderful Words of Life (Creative Worship Stamps); Sentiment Suite: Thinking of You (The Greetery).
INK: Peacock Feathers, Bundled Sage, Fossilized Amber, Tea Dye distress inks; Versafine Clair Nocturne; Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse (Papertrey Ink).
PAPER: Textiles & Textures Vintage (Honey Bee); Water color (Ranger); Classic Kraft (PTI).
DIES: Into the Blooms: Gardenia (Papertrey Ink); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things); Sentiment Suite Basics (The Greetery).
OTHER: Watercolor Wonderful stencils (PTI); Burlap Toile Dejute stencil (Tim Holtz).

That's it for now. Waiting for it to warm up above freezing before venturing outside. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!  ~Wanda

Dragonfly Birthday

A leisurely Sunday afternoon led to this card for two challenges. The Paper Players have a tic-tac-toe challenge this week and I went with the middle vertical row of something that flies, die cut and layers. I was also inspired by the colors for the Sunday Stamps challenge.

I started by stenciling a tartan plaid background. I then layered a rick rack frame and a diamond die shape.

STAMPS
: Opposites Attract (The Greetery).
INK: Peach Fuzz, Apricot, Summer Shower, Seaside (Pinkfresh Studio); New Leaf, Enchanted Evening, Classic Kraft, Cocoa Bean (Papertrey Ink).
PAPER: Stamper's Select White, New Leaf (PTI).
DIES: Opposites Attract, Jumbo Curiosity: Dragonfly (The Greetery); Love to Layer: Scalloped Diamonds, Border Bling: Skinny Ric Rac (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Dragonfly stencil, Tartan Builder Diagonal stencil (The Greetery).

That's a wrap for now. Have a great week!  ~Wanda

Denim Birthday

It's an overcast Sunday with occasional sunshine mixed with occasional rain showers. I hit my craft room after going to church and eating out at our fave Italian restaurant for lunch. I used the layout for the Sunday Stamps challenge #362 and combined it with the inspiration photo for the Inspired By challenge to include denim. I knew right away I wanted to use a 6x6 pad by Authentique called Collection: Original.

I layered up a trio of button dies and added thread to make it more realistic. I always struggle with masculine birthday cards and decided to go that route with a sentiment stamped in Dark Chocolate ink.

STAMPS: Birthday Tag Kit (Papertrey Ink).

INK: Dark Chocolate (PTI).

PAPER: Collection: Original 6x6 pad (Authentique); Rustic White (PTI).

DIES: Button dies (My Favorite Things); Skinny Frames: Diagonal Border (Papertrey Ink).

Sunday Stamps

The Sunday Stamps challenge has some lovely colors! I chose to use blue, yellow and white to create this baby card. I started with a matte white foiled hearts background from my leftover pile.
This bib die set paired with the large "baby" die sentiment from Papertrey Ink are favorites for a baby card!

STAMPS: Larger Than Life Baby Sentiments (Papertrey Ink).

INK: Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Green Parakeet, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky (Papertrey Ink); Versafine Clair Nocturne.

PAPER: Bitty Big: Blueberry Sky, Bitty Big: Harvest Gold, Blueberry Sky, Stamper's Select White (PTI).

DIES: Sweet Baby Bib, Larger Than Life: Baby, Pierced Feature Frames (PTI).

OTHER: From the Heart hot foil plate (PTI); Matte white foil.

SSS Wednesday Challenge

Simon Says Stamp: Get In Shape featuring Altenew... the new SSS Wednesday Challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp blog! I'm also entering this into the Sunday Stamps challenge with a color palette to follow (using at least 3 colors) and also at Seize the Birthday challenge to use something new.

One of my newest stamps/dies/stencils is a collection from Altenew called Zero-Waste Chocolate Flowers. Four layering stencils give you a square sheet of many florals and leaves which you die cut using one huge die that cuts them all at once! It's a genius concept!

I wanted to use the largest banner die for the card base and cut out 3 white banners. The bottom panel was scored about 3/8" from the top then adhered to the front panel using Score Tape. It then is able to stand like an easel (sorry I forgot to photograph that view).

STAMPS: Chocolate Flowers background set (Altenew); Sentiment Suite: Birthday (The Greetery).
INK: Winter Wisteria, Vintage Jadeite, Ocean Tides, New Leaf, Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Harvest Gold, Melon Berry (Papertrey Ink); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Stampers Select White (PTI).
DIES: Zero-Waste Chocolate Flowers (Altenew); Sentiment Suite Basics (The Greetery); A2 Nested Pendant Etched (Photoplay Paper); Cover Plate: Quilted (Papertrey Ink).
OTHER: Satin ribbon; Brad.

Rooting For You!

Good Monday friends! I thought I'd play along with the Sunday Stamps Challenge to use colors from their mood board (I used 4). I'm also playing along with the Paper Players challenge to create a CAS card with lots of laughs. I love puns so this punny plant set from Taylored Expressions came to mind immediately!

STAMPS
: The Insiders: Love Grows Here (pre-printed cards that are an addition to the Shelf Control sentiment stamp set) by Taylored Expressions.
INK: Canyon Clay, Terracotta Tile, Fine Linen, Dark Chocolate, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, Vintage Jadeite, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Raspberry Fizz, Green Parakeet, New Leaf dye inks by Papertrey Ink.
PAPER: Stampers Select White, True Black (PTI); Vintage Love pad by Honey Bee Stamps.

Sunday Stamps Challenge

Hello crafty friends! I'm finally catching my breath after a really busy Thanksgiving day with cooking up the traditional foods for a family meal. I started addressing Christmas cards on Friday and realized I still need a few more, so it was time to find a challenge. The Sunday Stamps challenge has a great color palette which worked out well with some items from my leftover pile.

Here is what I used...

INK: Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Limeade Ice, Pinefeather (PTI).
PAPER: White, Pure Poppy (PTI); Handsome Hunter (SU - retired).
DIES: Border Bling: Joy Frame, Sprigs & Sprays: Holiday, Vase Collection 4, Believe (PTI).
OTHER: Moonshine sequins.
Thanks for stopping by!  Back to watching more football and getting another card completed.   ~Wanda

Blooming Thoughts

The weekend flew by so quickly! Keeping grand kids on Saturday, cooking/baking for the w/e, church on Sunday...soon there was little time for stamping - lol! I did complete my card for the Fusion challenge this Thursday, but not an extra one to post until this morning.

I wanted to use the awesome spring colors in the Sunday Stamps challenge, so I went right away to the recently released set called Blooming Thoughts from Ink to Paper.

I had this yellow card base - white embossed with the Vintage
Postage Stamp and layered with a Border Bling: Skinny Postage die - in my leftover pile for quite some time. When I saw the sketch for the new Paper Players challenge, I decided it would fit. The oval is nearly hidden and the center horizontal "band" element is a bit wider than in the sketch, but hopefully the challenge police won't come after me! I love tying the 3 floral sprays together with twine for a quick and easy nosegay!

STAMPS: Blooming Thoughts, Vintage Postage (Ink to Paper).

PAPER: Lemon Tart, White (Ink to Paper).

INK: Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening, Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise; Versamark.

DIES: Blooming Thoughts, Border Bling: Skinny Postage (Ink to Paper).

OTHER: Altenew Pure White Opaque embossing powder; Twine.

This week finally sounds like we will have some spring-like temperatures! Yay! I am nursing along a number of plants inside the house that belong outside. Maybe I'll get to place them outdoors soon. Have a great Monday everyone!   ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #621

The year is winding down quickly and it's time again for another Color Throwdown challenge! Amy Rysavy is hosting and has chosen red, green, blue and white. I decided to combine my card sample with the Sunday Stamps sketch and also was inspired by the photo at The Card Concept challenge.

I went with the beautiful Pine Blossom stamp/die set from The Greetery.

My style for The Card Concept challenge is clean and layered and my inspiration was the plaid pillow, evergreen boughs and berries.
STAMPS: Pine Blossom, Sentiment Suite: Christmas (The Greetery).

PAPER: Christmas Plaids (6x6" pad by Recollections); Stampers Select White by Ink to Paper.

INK: Red Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, Bright Buttercup, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, True Black (dye inks by Ink to Paper).

DIES: Pine Blossom, Sentiment Suite Basics (The Greetery); Stitched Rounded Rectangles and Stitched Rectangles STAX Die-Namics by My Favorite Things.

Another Christmas card is completed! Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. For more inspiration from the rest of the throwdown team, be sure and visit the CTD blog to check them out!

Patriotic Thanks

I finished a really good crime fiction book over the weekend written by Brad Parks. It's a real page-turner with lots of unexpected twists and turns What made it more interesting is that he grew up in this area of VA and used frequent references to local roads, towns, businesses, etc. If you're looking for a good book, I recommend Closer Than You Know!
I also squeezed in a quick card for two different challenges.  The Paper Players challenge has us creating a CAS (clean and simple) card which I always struggle with but think there's enough white space to keep the challenge police away - LOL! I'm also using colors for the Sunday Stamps challenge.

I've said it before and will say it again...these pinwheel stencils are just so much fun from The Greetery!

With the Fourth of July coming up soon, I thought the pinwheels would be fun in patriotic colors. Here's what I used...

STAMPS: Written in Ribbons (The Greetery).
PAPER: White, Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening, Matte silver metallic (Papertrey Ink/Ink to Paper).
INK: Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening, Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy - dye inks by Papertrey Ink/Ink to Paper.
DIES: Pinwheel Party, Twisted Crepe, Written in Ribbons (The Greetery); Stitched Rectangle STAX (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Pinwheel Party Stencil (The Greetery).
