Kryptonian Super Power #523
Comicosity has a preview of Suicide Squad #27 which features Power Girl; as I don't get the monthly title but am a fan of PG, I thought I'd head over there and see what was happening without worrying about spoiling any surprises - like I said, I don't get the title so no worries.
Here's page 2 of the preview:
Dear Lord, the poor woman has no spine! I'm not an artist or a biology student but even I can clearly tell that people do not bend like that! And her legs - surely her right leg (the one closest to us) should be bent at the knee to help support that weight?!
Definitely one of the boobs and butt tag of EscherGirls, I think.

Batman/Superman/Worlds' Finest Crossover
I'm not a big Bats or Supes reader - I don't get any of their titles though I'm happy to pick up the occasional trade every now and then. I do, however, read Worlds' Finest and it's with some trepidation that I read of a crossover between that title and Batman/Superman next year.
Basically Power Girl's powers are still up in the air come February next year (really? It's taking that long to resolve this issue?) and Huntress convinces her to seek help from this Earth's Batman and Superman with, I'm sure, hilarious results.
One line from the article jumped out at me on first read:
"At the heart of the story is the two women's quest to get home to Earth 2, but it also has ramifications beyond the two titles, as Superman and Batman become aware of the DC multiverse"Ummm . . . did they not become aware of the multiverse with Forever Evil and the appearance of the Crime Syndicate from Earth-3?
But this also cropped up:
"Levitz: There's a host of interesting personality reactions. You can play mix or match with the characters, and that's part of what we did in the plotting.
How would Helena react to a Superman who's basically her age range? She might not want to get his current girlfriend pissed off, because she's kind of a tough lady. But there might be some attraction there."So Huntress would be attracted to a younger version of the man she would normally view as an uncle figure? Anyone else find that a little icky?

Monday Memories #41 - Body Doubles #3
Each Monday this year I'll be taking a look back at a random comic, prestige format issue, graphic novel or collection of reprints from amongst my 3,000 or so comics that date from 1962 to 2003 - I figured anything in the last ten years would be too recent to hark back to.
The comics are chosen completely at random and apart from a four week lead-in period, even I don't know what I'll be looking at in the weeks to come!

DC's November Solicitations
FOREVER EVIL #3
With the world under the rule of the mysterious and deadly Crime Syndicate and our greatest heroes dead, it’s up to the unlikeliest of defenders to rise up to save us—humanity’s only hope—Lex Luthor?!So looks like my guess of the Crime Syndicate's involvement in Forever Evil was right.

Everything New (52) Is Old Again. Again.
Confirmation of what a lot of people had known/suspected was released yesterday - DC is having a Villain's Month event in September. Alongside that was news of Forever Evil, a seven issue miniseries that will allow the creators (Geoff Johns and David Finch) to "really exploring what darkness means and the different kinds of darkness that are within these villains."
Villains which apparently include Sinestro whom Johns himself sent away never to be heard from again only a couple of weeks ago. Seems neither death nor exile are permanent these days.
And is that really Dumb Bunny in the background or am I seeing things?!
"As rumored, each of the New 52 series will change titles for that month and shift focus to antagonists like Darkseid, Bizarro, Gorilla Grodd, Two-Face and Poison Ivy."You can see some of the titles with their funky moving 3D covers here but the one that caught my eye was this:
As you can see, that's Earth 2 but it features Power Girl, Huntress and Desaad, all of whom have been gracing the pages of Worlds' Finest. Does that PG and Huntress get to Earth 2?
In a separate interview, Jim Lee says of the new covers:
""They’re amazing covers. It’s an effect that you haven’t seen before... it’s an entire cover," Lee said. "...The colors and the depth of field allows you to actually see the logo of the new book. Let’s say the Joker is taking over, it’ll be the Batman title in the background, and you’ll see the Joker title splattered on top of the Batman logo itself. It really sells the concept in a very visual way.""I'll grant you we may not have seen moving covers quite like this before but as for the villains' logos superimposed on the heroes'.... didn't that "sell the concept in a very visual way" back in 2009?

DC Superhero Redesigns
These redesigns by Michael Lee Lunsford attracted a fair bit of attention last week as people looked at them and either thought "Cool, nice work," or (as so often happens on the internet) "What are you doing? You've ruined her!"
I happen to like them, I have to admit. They're easily recognisable as the characters, they contain elements of the classic looks of each of them and they're a step away from the spray painted costumes most characters - male and female - wear in superhero comics these days.
Good work Mr Lunsford, I say.
There are a few other redesigns on his blog, including characters from other publishers but, being the slave to DC that I am, I picked out my favourites.

Saying What We All Thought
A blog reader (cheers, Adam) sent me the above which made me chuckle as Power Girl clearly thought what we all did when the new look was revealed. Of course, we all know by now the classic look's returning so no worries there.
By the way, I don't know who the artist is but if anyone recognises the symbol on the left of the pic, let me know and I'll put up a link to their web page or, at the very least, credit them.

WTF? Use A Spoiler Warning, People!
A couple of days ago, I bitched posted about the steady reveal of DC's previously known as WTF April covers, the ones where the gatefold reveals a surprise related to the story within.
Regarding those series I buy, I've managed to avoid all of the reveals simply by not clicking on links that say "Click here for the full cover!" It's a simple procedure - if you have a surprise of whatever sort, offer people the choice of whether or not to reveal it.
That choice wasn't apparent on the otherwise excellent New Earth 2 blog this morning where the full gatefold cover of Worlds' Finest #11 is on display, revealing just who Power Girl is really getting it on with - if you want to see who it is, click the picture on the left.
It's not a massive surprise given the solicitations for forthcoming issues but even so, it caught me by surprise as I went through my feed reader - no warning, it was suddenly there on my screen.
I fear I may have to hide from the internet for the next week or two.

What Were You Looking For This Week?
Regular readers know I'll occasionally throw out the search terms that people have used (deliberately or otherwise) to find this blog when I'm rushing around like a blue arsed fly and don't have time for anything else.
So . . .
Seriously? People found this blog looking for that second term in the list? I mean Power Girl I can understand as I'm something of a fan but really . . . but then, there's Rule 34, I suppose, so if you're looking for it, you'll probably find it. Just not here.
And that last one has to be the most specific search term I've ever come across. Not just the title or the number but the actual page?! Still, in case anyone's still looking for "jla #190 starro page 8", here it is:
Just leave a comment saying thanks . . . and maybe why you were after that particular page, eh?
