Homer's Diner Record Album Tutorial, a Country Craft Creations Design Team Project

OMGEEEEE!!! I'm late! I totally forgot to post the link to this tutorial! I can't believe I did that!

This is a fun album that you are going to love...and it includes A REAL 45 ALBUM!

I am using the fantastic collection available only at Country Craft Creations called Homer's Diner...It is AMAZING! This 1950's themed paper is going to make you so happy when you use it!

My inspiration was a memory I had of books made to hold 45's, and then the players to play them. I was fortunate to find one in a local antique mall, and used the album as the cover of this book. If you can't find a 45, I will share with you a couple of methods to make one out of cardstock. Below is the cut list for this project. I hope you like it. If you have questions please let me know. Thanks so much for watching and I'll see you soon with more fun tutorials. CUT LIST Cover Chipboard: heavy weight 2 - 8 x 8 1 - 2 1/2 x 8 Cardstock: 2 - 10 x 10 1 - 5 1/2 x 10 1 - 5 1/5 x 7 7/8 I use the lay flat method in this tutorial: https://youtu.be/VDrBoasyqtc Pink cardstock: 2 - 7 3/4 x 7 3/4 1 - 2 1/4 x 7 3/4 Pages: These are stacked, almost like my waterfalls that I make in this tutorial, but are constructed in sets, an outer set and an inner set. I explain this in the video Outer set: 2 - 9 1/4 x 7 1/2 Inner set: 2 - 8 1/4 x 7 1/2 Pockets: 4 - 8 1/2 x 8 The cover decoration is a real 45 record. Its diameter is ~6 3/4" The inner circles are: Cardstock 3 3/4 diameter, patterned paper 3 1/2 in diameter The needle arm is a piece of chipboard cut at 3/4" wide and approximately 5" long, and I'll explain how to make the angle in the tutorial Inside front cover, vertical to horizontal waterfall...a version of this is also used in this tutorial I did in the past...https://youtu.be/cW5SUt9h-GE Cardstock bases: 4 - 4 1/2 x 7 Coordinating cardstock and patterned paper to mat: cut 4 each- 4 1/4 x 6 3/4 I will show how to score the corners in the tutorial Inside Back Cover: Pocket: 1 - 9 (-1/16") x 4 1/2 Scrap of cardstock for behind pocket, is used to cover the chipboard, and is explained in the tutorial Album inserts: I used my Silhouette to cut the circles needed for this A Side: Black Cardstock: 4 - 7 1/4" diameter Coordinating Cardstock: 4 - 3 1/2 diameter patterned paper: 3 1/4 diameter B Side: White Cardstock: 4 - 7" diameter Patterned paper half circles have a 3 1/2" radius Border Strip Pockets: These use the 1" border strips in the paper collection. Hello and Merry Christmas! I have a wonderful tutorial for you today. It is actually the first in 4 videos that I will have in this series. I am presenting my December design team project for Country Craft Creations! I am using Simple Stories, "Simple Vintage Ancestry" paper collection and it is AMAZING! I am totally in love with this project and I can not wait to share it with you! It is a huge album and it will require quite a bit of supplies, but it is soooooo worth it. The idea for this album is for an album that you can document a couple family genealogy and then pass it down to your children for a heritage keepsake. Please visit Country Craft Creations for your supplies!!!

This video is the first in a series. I have pictures in the beginning and end of the finished piece. During this video we will do a walkthrough of the prototype of the album we are going to make together! I rarely do this type of tutorial, but we are going to go through everything step by step. We will also go over the supplies I received in the design team package and the supplies I purchased to add to it. I will also make the cover of the album. The cover is a wrap around cover that I think you will like. The other videos showing the page construction and how to make the family chart will come soon, within a couple of days. I am working hard on the editing.

My Vintage Halloween Crow

Oh yes, I am into the vintage thing this year.  I love how this turned out!  I loosely followed a tutorial by Tangie Baxter.  You can find the whole tutorial here.  There are printables available, but I didn't use them.  I didn't even look at them.  I did, however, use the instructions to make the collar.
The crow is from Michaels.  The box is a cigar box that my friend gave me several years ago.  I was saving it for the perfect project.  Taa Daa!!!  I made the collar with papers from Echo Park, "The Apothecary Emporium" and used some paper tags from the leftovers from the Collections Box that I shared with you a couple days ago.
The flowers are from Recollections, the ribbons are also Recollections.  I added moss to the bottom to help cover the wire that keeps the crow upright.  The pumpkins, the bottle inside the box, and the skull pendant are all by Tim Holtz.  I also used some distress ink by him as well.

I am not sure where the skull came from, but it is a bead that I just love and use them a lot in my Halloween stuff!

Thanks for stopping by.  Stay scary, my friends!!

Vintage Style Halloween Star

 IT'S HALLOWEEN SEASON!!!!  YIPEE!!!!!

Ok, you all know that this is my favorite holiday...and I have been making some new things to decorate my home with.  The first project in my new decoration arsenal is this vintage style halloween star.  I have seen these all over the net, and have seen one in a store that I just loved.  So,  came home and made my own version.
It's awesome!!!  I made a barn star, put it on a doily shape that I got from Silhouette, made a rosette and added a spider web, also from Silhouette.  Then I layered some embellishments!
I used a Tim Holtz hanger to hang it with, adding a nice little Jack-O-Lantern charm to it.  I also used some Stickles to bling it up a bit.
The papers I used were from Bazill and American Crafts. The decorative papers and die cuts are from My Mind's Eye, the "Frightful" collection.  I love how it turned out!!

I am making a lot of cool things, and I am planning on making a video of our house after it is completely haunted...I'm soooooo excited!

Stay scary, my friends!!!

Vintage Potholders

Hi, everyone!  You saw in my last post about my crafty decorating that I had used some vintage potholders in my kitchen as decoration.  Well, since I love to crochet I decided to make some of my own, that I could maybe use. Also, maybe, just maybe, my grandkids will display the ones I had in their kitchens some day.  After I bought all of this thread that will go awesome in my kitchen,  I went searching on Pinterest and found several free patterns.  Have I told you how much I love Pinterest?
I found this pattern from Little Miss Stitcher.  It is an awesome pattern, but I worried that the open holes in it wouldn't allow me to be able to use it at all.  So, I did some alterations to it for myself.
I decided to make the dress solid crochet, and I made it in two layers, like a "slip" for the dress.  I did the first row on the front loop, and the "slip" first row on the back loop.  Then I just crocheted both the same way, creating two layers of the "dress", which resulted in four layers of fabric made.  That should insulate it a little better.
Here is the finished dress, I mean potholder.  I used my nifty little cord maker gadget and created a tie for the dress, and here it is.  I love it!  I have a bunch of other vintage patterns that I am going to create with all of that thread I bought.  Even if I don't use them, it will be fun to make them.

Stay crafty, my friends!!!

Crafty Decorating

I have been fascinated with some beautiful vintage items that I have, and have been wondering what to do with them.  I found ideas on Pinterest…Don't you just love that site???  I thought I would show you what I did with these wonderful treasures from our past.
Jackie had given me some wonderful vintage handkerchiefs that belonged to her grandmother.  On Pinterest I saw that some folks are decorating with them, and I loved this idea.  So I put them over the curtain rod in my craft room.
I think it looks very cool over my Cricut and Silhouette station.
My husband had this stash of beautiful vintage potholders that his Grandmother made.  They are beautiful, but also very fragile.  There is no way on Earth that I would ever try to use them, but I saw on Pinterest that there are many ways to display them.
I found this awesome basket at the local store, on CLEARANCE!!  I bought two little ones like the one you see here, and two larger ones.  You never know when you are going to need a basket, right?  But, then it hit me, this is the perfect way to display his collection of her potholders!  It sits in my kitchen windowsill …I love them!
My poor hope chest has been sitting on our upstairs hallway, just being all naked.  So, on Pinterest (Did I tell you I love that site???) I saw that folks are using a variety of crocheted doilies to make runners.  YES!!!  I have some doilies (the two on the ends) that Jackie gave me (they belonged to her Grandmother), and some that I had in my stash, and a few that I whipped up to fill it out.  Taa Daa!!!  I have a runner for my hope chest!
Above the runner is the mini wall quilt that my mom made for us when we got married.  I put a small vintage looking suitcase that I have had for years, a book (Grimm's Fairy Tales) and a brass candle holder.  I think it needs a few more "things" to make it cooler looking, but it's a start.
I think it is GORGEOUS!!!  I tied the doilies together, so that if I ever want to separate them, it wouldn't be hard to do.  And, yes, those are battery operated candles.  I probably will never light them (unless we are having company or something) and I do NOT want to chance wax all over my vintage goodies!

There it is.  My vintage decorating in my "modern" house.  I hope you like this post, and I hope you try some of these ideas.  I really want to go to some antique shops now…I am getting more ideas.

Stay crafty, my friends!
