Hi! I’m Sam. Thanks for stopping by. I’m a wife, mother & grandmother with a passion for crafting and diy projects. I’ve had a fascination with crafting since I was taught to crochet at the age of 8. I couldn’t get over how a single strand of yarn could become a blanket. It amazed me. After all these years, I’m still fascinated with the process of creating something from nothing, or almost nothing. And by the Grace of God, I’ve been given a little talent & a lot of imagination. I love to sew, paint, make my own jewelry and iron. (Yes, iron. It’s a stress reliever for me) I’m always trying to find new ways to reorganize the spaces in my house, so I’m on Pinterest a lot. I really don’t like to cook, so recipes are usually simple. Spending time with my family brings me more joy than anything else.
I’ve been told that I have champagne tastes on a beer budget. I’m always trying to find a way to have the item I want at a much more affordable price. Decorating can be expensive. Recently I wanted to make new throw pillows for the living room. I couldn’t believe that they wanted $27.00 for one pillow form when I could make two for under $10.00. It’s amazing what a can of paint can do to transform an item into something that looks similar to what you’d find in a store or catalog. I love finding new ways to creatively change a room with a project that can be done easily. And decorating a t-shirt or sweatshirt for half the price of one that is available in the stores is always fun.
I’ve been married to my best friend for 25 years. He is my rock, partner & inspiration. He has the patients of a saint, especially when listening to my endless rants about new projects and ideas. He’s put up with our living room becoming an assembly line as well as days filled with the smell of a smoking glue gun and clouds of glitter everywhere.
Our home was built in 1904 with a 75% build up. Basically, this means that when ever previous owners had a little extra money, they’d add a room. Unfortunately, there wasn’t too much rhyme or reason to where they put the new rooms. Insulation wasn’t used back then either. Everything needs updated. One room at a time, we’re ripping the walls down to the studs to add new wiring, insulation, lighting, plumbing and drywall. We’ve spent years trying to turn this house into something that doesn’t resemble a maze.
The biggest problem is that when I get a project in my head, I can see it finished in my mind’s eye. This can make it difficult to convey my ideas to others. This is one of the reasons for this blog, to share with you my love of crafting from the start of an idea to the finished product. I invite you to come along with me on this journey. I hope you have as much fun as I do.
