Canvas Clock with Bling

When I’m in my craft room, I have a tendency to lose track of time.  There have been times when I’ve become so engrossed in a project that I’ve watched the sun come up.  One of the last times I did that, I realized that I needed a clock in there.  But, knowing me, I couldn’t just buy a clock… I had to make one.

Here’s the latest project for my craft room.  A DIY Canvas clock… With Bling.

DIY Wax Stick

I love to work with all sizes of gemstones.  I like to decorate items with them as well as use them to make jewelry.  Trying to place them on an object can be tricky unless you have  a little help.  I’ve tried using tweezers, but the gems like to jump out of them.  Then I found the QuickStik Pick up tool, which was purchased at Joann Fabrics in their scrapbook department.  They aren’t cheap.  I paid $7.00 for mine, although I use it a lot.  If you don’t want to spend that much money for something that you may not use very often, I have a do-it-yourself solution.  It works as well as the QuickStik & you probably have everything you need to make it.

What is it?  It’s a wax stick.  Simple to make anytime you need it & probably won’t cost you a cent to make.

This is what you’ll need:

A candle & a toothpick.

D.I.Y. Whatever Clock

A while ago, a friend posted a picture of a clock on Facebook.  She said she really wanted it.  When I said that it looked easy enough to make, she said “show me”.  I showed the picture to my son, and he said that he wanted one in black & white.  So, to satisfy both, I made it for my son’s birthday.  It was so easy to make using very little supplies.

Here’s how I made the “Whatever Clock”

Mirrored Lazy Susan

I love centerpieces that have some sparkle & shine. I can’t help it, the more shine, the better.

When I’d first seen the Mirrored Lazy Susan by Valerie Parr Hill on QVC, I fell in love with it.  But the $31.00 + $7.47 shipping & handling charge made the price tag a little high for me.  By now, you know me, and you know that if I want something, and it’s too expensive, I’ll try to make it myself.  My version was under $5.00!

Here’s my version of the Mirrored Lazy Susan:

Watch Band Quick Fix

I have a watch that’s one of my favorites.  I love the way it feels when I wear it.  But it’s recently lost a very important piece of the band.  It’s called a ‘Free Loop‘ or ‘Free Ring‘. I tried to find a replacement for the missing piece, and from what I understand, they don’t sell it.  The only alternative would be to buy a new band.  Unfortunately, I can’t find a band in white that fits the watch.  So, I did what I usually do when faced with a problem… I made my own Watch Band Quick Fix.

This is the piece that I’m missing:

Shabby Chic Fruit Bowl

When you’re a crafter & people know it, they sometimes give you things thinking that you can do something with it.  This project started with a friend giving me a pair of gold & glass cherub lamps that someone had given her.  She thought of me because I’m always creating something.  I’m going to get 2 or 3 projects from this pair of lamps.  Here’s my first one:

Corner Booth Makeover

When we first moved into our home, we bought this corner booth.  I wanted it not only for the seating, but for the extra storage that was built into the seats.  But I don’t like browns, not the color or in wood tones.   And for years, I would look at this booth & cringe.

By now, you know the way I think.  If you like the piece, but the color doesn’t go with your home…. paint it!  So I did.

Patriotic Wreath – tutorial

I’m still having a ball working on decorations for the 4th of July!  The table is almost ready to be set, the decorative pieces are done for a vignette or two.  But the door was  naked!

It needed a wreath.
