If I Had a Flower

Good morning, everybody! I hope this chilly Thursday finds you well.

I've been painting paper flowers - and they weren't even white!! Now, we all know we can paint white flowers any colour we choose, but did you know that you can paint other colours, too? I didn't have any purple flowers. I didn't have any white flowers. I did have some kind of greyish flowers. They're purple now!
I really like mixing colours, mainly because it's fun, so I used several shades of purple. I used Amethyst and Light Purple as a base coat. Over the top, I used Royal Purple and Plum. Not only did using that much paint allow me to get such a wonderful depth of colour, it also gave the paper flowers much more body than they had to begin with, which let me shape them, rather than leaving them flat.

Once the flowers were shaped and attached to the card, I added in a Clear Jeweled Inspirations gem to each flower.

Inspired Hello

Hello everyone! A quick an easy card from me...completely inspired by embossing! Embossing is one of my favourite things to do, both heat embossing and dry embossing. I went with an embossing folder and hit the raised part with Rose Quartz CIP. It's really subtle, because it's almost an exact match to my paper! The flower has Rose Quartz CIP painted along the back side (wouldn't want it to be plain, now, would we?) and Olive Green CIP along the edges of the petals, which does show up somewhat in the closeup. For the centre of my flower, I've used a Jeweled Inspirations (SS34). These are hot fix capable, but I don't yet have a hot fix wand, so I just used a hot glue gun, which worked brilliantly. I'll be sending this card along to the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, as part of the Hope You Can Cling To challenge.

Have a great week everyone! Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with for the Inspired by...Embossing Challenge!

An Altered Canvas

Here's an altered mini canvas and I love how Creative Inspirations Paint takes to the canvas!

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Hey! It's Karen!
I have a layout to share with you, I recently hopped onboard with the IOD DT and so I got my box packed with goods, so this layout exclusively features the Lullaby Girl collection. Of course I used my CI paints for this=)

I cut out some flowers from one of the patterned papers and wanted to give them a pretty pop, so I painted them with shimmery goodness. For the leaves I used Green Olive, the petals Rose Quartz(which I LOOOOOVE) and for the center Sunshine...chck out the shimmer!

The leaves on this sticker REALLY show the shimmer.

Well thats its for now...Til next time!!

Snowmen on A Stick: Vintage Christmas Tree Ornaments

These little ornaments were a labor of love :)  I’d seen some cute Snowmen on a stick at the Rustic Corner and thought I’d create my own!  I gave mine a paper mache head and added a hat and clothes.  The little star on the hat is Spellbinder’s.  Mica Flakes are Melissa Frances.  Clothes were recycled from old ornaments.  I used Creative Inspirations Paint in the following colors.  Pumpkin, Onyx, Fairy Dust and Blush.

Halloween Tag

So I know Halloween is over and all, but I wanted to show you a quick tag I made, that hangs on a door. And of course....I used some of my paints on it=)

I accented the pumpkin with Mango. The "fright night" is a stamp, which instead of using ink o stamp, I simply painted my stamp with Onyx paint and stamped it.=) I also painted my little skeleton guy with Onyx, you can catch some of the shimmer in the top right corner.

Well I hope you all had a wonderful safe Halloween.
Catch ya next time. =)

Fall is in the Air

Good morning, I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

I've also been inspired by the colder weather we have been getting around here.  Can you believe it's November already?

My goal was to make something fall related along with making a more manly card.  It's sometimes hard to make the guy's a card, yet to also use shimmer on them.

My creation:

I first stamped one of the leaf images on white cardstock and then kind of quickly used CI Paints Garnet, Mango, Mellow Yellow, Buttercup, Citrus, Canary, Sunshine to paint in the leaf. I wanted to act quickly so that I could blend the colors in together while they were still wet.

The end result:

Isn't that beautiful? I didn't completely glue down the leaf, I left some of the edges up to make it look 3-D.

I used CI Paint Mango around the edges of the outside cardstock to add some more shimmer to the card. The paints are great for adding this little added touch, just like when you do it with ink.

I also wanted to share one of the first Christmas cards I've made for this year, before you know it, it's going to be that time! (Just what you wanted to hear, right?!?!)

A close-up:
I used the paints as watercolors for this card.

Have a great day!

Monday Morning Inspiration

How are you liking all this inspiration?  Isn't it fun?!?!

These paints are truly amazing and there is so much you can do with them!

So I had off last week and found myself in my room daydreaming and having fun with these paints!

First up is a cute candy corn treat box I made!  I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the cardstock and then used CI Paints Fairy Dust, Mango and Mellow Yellow to alter few of the embossed parts to add some shimmer.  I personally think without the shimmer it was kind of dull! Here is a tutorial to make your own.

I bought some paper mache letters for my little girl's room and used scrap pieces of paper to cover them.  I used CI Paints to alter the paper to give it some shimmer. Along with altering the paper I added some paper flowers to the letter "A" which were originally white.  Aren't they shimmery?!

I also made this pretty card for my Grandma's birthday!  I used Tutu Pink, Light Purple and Pink Highlights.  Around the main image I used my doily lace punch to go around it and covered the cardstock with Light Purple to add some shimmer!

Okay, now this was one of my last minute crazy idea!  But this is my last piece of inspiration for today, sorry if I overwhelmed you!  I had taken a picture of some roses from my garden the other day to share on my blog for Breast Cancer Awareness month.
As I was uploading it onto my blog, I thought, okay we've been altering paper flowers with these paints, what about real ones!!

So I tried it...
I love the shimmer from these paints!  I actually painted "Peach" onto the rose with a paint brush, as my local Hobby Lobby didn't have any misters for me to spray it on.

With weddings being on my mind as a good friend of mine is planning her wedding, I just thought how cool this could be to use the paints in this form as well!  They could be used on fake flowers you use in bouquets you have around the house!  These paints would be perfect on those Christmas bouquets to add some shimmer for the holidays!

I thought it was a neat idea!

Have a shimmery Monday and a great rest of the week!

Falling leaves.......

Fall is my favorite time of the year. What's not to love about crisp air, delicious treats made from pumpkin, and crunchy leaves underfoot? There are so many things to do during the months of September and October, and pumpkin picking ranks at the top of my families list. We went several weeks ago to a local farm, and spent about an hour in the pumpkin patch. We brought home thirteen pumpkins and I also managed to get wonderful photographs!

When I come across a photo I really love, I try to fight the urge to scrap it as an 8x10. The reason for that is large photos can be hard to scrap without the page either looking too plain, or too cluttered. The way to get around this is to embellish simply, and try to cluster them directly on your photograph. That is what I did with my favorite shot from our trip. I used Evergreen, Burgandy, Burnt Clay, Buttercup, and Raw Sienna CI paints on chipboard leaves. I just kept brushing the colors over each other, allowing them to blend, for a multi-colored appearance. Just like Mother Nature! Check it out, what do you think??

TWO BED TIME STORIES...

Hello Everyone! This is Chris Dickinson here! Welcome to the Creative Inspirations Blog! I am filling in today for the talented Samantha Star, who did not have her paints in time for her first post.

For your viewing pleasure, I have TWO projects for you! Both using the Inspired By Challenge - Bedtime Stories. The first card uses the "Jack Be Quick" and the second card uses "Rudolph the Red-nose Reindeer."   We would LOVE it if you played along too!

My first project uses these dreamy, creamy paints! I have to admit. Once I started painting with them I could not stop. I sat down and painted about 10 images! The only reason I stopped was because it was my bed time.

These paints have just the right amount of sparkle to them and are SO easy to use! I started out by grabbing my water color paint brush and Plum and painted the candle.  The flame portion I painted with the Canary, Garnet, Mellow Yellow and Pumpkin and just a touch of plum in the center of the flame.  I used Antique Gold and Gold for the candle holder. The leaves were painted with Emerald and the berries were painted with Garnet and Burgundy for some shading.

You can really see the shimmer of these gorgeous paints on the white card stock before  I cut it out for the card...

For my second card, I used the Denim paint for the back ground of the stamped image. I painted the antlers with the Tan paint. I used the YUMMY Chocolate paint for the reindeer and Garnet for his cute little nose! The Raw Sienna paint was perfect for the stars and I used the Tutu Pink for the inside of his ears.

I hope you enjoyed these projects! Thank you for stopping by and taking a look! Have a GREAT weekend!

A layout AND card!!!

Hey ladies! It's Karen with you today, bringing you a layout and card using the gorgeous Creative Inspirations Shimmer Paints. I am soooo in love with these! The amount of shimmer in each pot is unreal.

Here is a closeup of the piece I altered with the paints, it's a Dusty Attic chipboard chandelier. Look at the shimmer!! I coated the entire piece with Beige, then using my finger I dabbed some Chocolate and Antique Copper in some spots, to add a rusty feel to it.

Here are the colors I used on the above chippie. From left to right: Chocolate, Beige, and Antique Copper.

Now for my card, ok quite honestly I'm not huge on card making BUT I love how this one turned out. Used the scraps from the layout above.

For the sentiment, I basically painted the entire piece of cardstock with Carmel(one of my faves!)

Then also used the same color to accent some of the swirls in the paper.

I hope you enjoyed these projects and find inspiration within them.
Til next time....=)

Bird House Decor

I created this bird house project with a kit from Club Scrap.  It's a fun piece of home decor. What a perfect opportunity to use my Creative Inspirations paints. Both sides were stamped and the images were painted with the paints. The bird house is quite colorful and the paints work so well on the colors. The shimmer of the paints really adds to the overall look.

Fab Zebra Card and Monster Treats!

Are you ready for all kinds of inspiration?  I hope so because the CI Paints DT is sharing inspiration with you Monday through Friday!  Something new for this term and I’m really excited about it!

With World Card Making Day on Saturday I sat down and make this adorable Zebra card using my Create a Critter cart for my Cricut.
It's so quick and easy to add a little shimmer to your die cuts before you adhere them together.  And the shimmer is beautiful!

I cut these flowers out and added "Tickled Pink" to them and then used VersaMagic Chalk Ink "Pink Petunia" around the endges of the flowers and lightly crimped them.  And lastly added some bling to the middle using my i-rock!
Without the shimmer they'd be a little boring!

I added "Onyx" to the black cardstock to give some of the Zebra's body shimmer!

With halloween right around the corner, I've been looking for some cute treat boxes to make and just fell in love with this frankenstein one that I saw in my last issue of Scrapbooks Etc.
Isn't he cute?!?!

I used CI Paint "Winter Frost" for his eyes.

And "Onyx" for his hair.

I have the complete instructions on my blog to make your own!

These paints truly add a lovely finished touch to any project!  They add just the right amount of shimmer to make them look complete.

I hope you enjoyed what I've shared with you today, have a fabulous day!  Check back tomorrow for some more inspiration!!
