stuck on glitter...

Tis the season for glitz and glam!

Hello my wonderful friends!

Are you ready to get sparkly?

I've noticed in the stores a fun thing... glitter tape.  It's just what it sounds like... a roll of tape that is glitterized. Well, that got my brain to thinking...

That's fun and all, but...

You guessed it, I wanted more control! I wanted it to match MY projects, MY colors, MY patterns, and MY style! I didn't want to have to match my work to what the STORE decided to carry! UGG!

But, when has that really stopped me before?  It just forces me to be a little more creative. :)

So, here is a fun way to make YOUR OWN glitter tape. (well, more like glitter ribbon...)

Step 1: Stamp a design onto tissue paper.

Step 2: Cover with a strong double sided adhesive, and trim off extra tissue... I like to use a double sided adhesive that comes in a sheet so I can cut it to the size and shape I want. I'm using a Silhouette Double Sided Adhesive sheet here.

Step 3: Peel off the back of the double sided adhesive and cover in Creative Inspirations Angel Dust Resplendence.  Press the glitter onto the adhesive and brush off the extra to return to the jar.

The fun thing about this technique, is not only is it totally customizable, but it is also semi-transparent, and you can tint it by rubbing on a little distress ink to the tissue paper side of the tape. Of course you can make plain glitter tape by simply covering one side of the double side adhesive with any color Resplendence glitter, then using the back side to adhere it to your project.

The glittered tissue tape will have to be attached with an adhesive like a glue runner or another piece of double sided adhesive... or, you can do what I did here..,

Because the back is not sticky, and it is stabilized by the tape, it can be tied in a bow.

Not your average glitter tape, huh!

Enjoy!

good and stuck...

Hello my wonderful crafty friends!

Have you ever opened a card and found more glitter in the bottom of the envelope than is left on the card? Or how about those scrapbook pages that you look at later just to find a mess of glitter covering the inside of the sheet protector?

Yeah, I hate that!

For a long time that really turned me off to glitter. I hated the mess!

Well, today I want to share with you some tips on using Creative Inspiration's Resplendence glitter.

Here is my super (not so secret) tool...

This, my friends is a heat activated sticky embossing powder. A mouthful to say, but a fabulous thing to have! This amazingly genius powder has been around for quite some time, but it doesn't seem to be widely known.  There are several companies that make similar powders, this is just the brand I found at a local big box store.

Allow me to give you a guided tour...

First of, we start like any other embossing powder... ink up your stamp with a clear embossing ink.

Next you need to stamp your image... not too hard, right?

Continuing in our typical embossing process, cover your image with heat activated sticky embossing powder.

Gently tap (don't flick) off the excess powder and return it to the jar. No waste.
If you need to, use a fine tipped paint brush to remove stray bits of powder. Perfect!

Now, here's where we jump off the normal train...
Gently heat the image from the UNDER side. Only heat until the powder is glossy. Don't over-heat, or it won't work.

Covet the image with CI Resplendence.

Once again, give heat the UNDER side briefly to set.

Once the paper has cooled, shake off the excess glitter. I like to shake it off into a coffee filter and return it to the jar from that. Seems to be less messy.

Use a stiff paintbrush or your finger to brush off more of the extra glitter.

You may find stray pieces of the Resplendence glitter are rather stubborn. If this is the case, you can use masking tape or a lint roller to clean up the image. This is how you know the sticky powder works. If you can roll a lint roller over the image and the glitter stays put, it won't be going anywhere soon!

Now you have a beautifully sparkly stamped image!

But Kassi, you may say, what if none of the Resplendence colors are right for my project?
Never fear ye who are color OCD! I've got you covered! (after all, I'm a little OCD myself!)

May I introduce you to my personal favorite Resplendence color...

Angel Dust

This is a clear iridescent fine glitter. LOVE IT!

Now, you may be asking, how does that help me?

Allow me to explain...

Instead of using clear embossing powder to ink up your stamp, use a pigment ink in the color of your choice. It does need to be a PIGMENT ink as only  that kind will stay wet and sticky long enough to hold the powder.

Follow all the steps as before...

*sigh* Pretty, isn't it.

Here's another fabulous thing you can do with the pigment ink idea...
Try using more than one color of ink on the stamp!

Enjoy!

Angel Card

The beautiful stamp set 'Lace, Take One Step' (JS342) was painted using Creative Inspiration Paints in Amethyst, and Plum.  The angel wings were covered using Helmar's Acid Free Adhesive, then sprinkled with Resplendence Angel Dust. The Angel Dust is amazing, such glorious shimmer!  I was going to add some of the Angel Dust across the flowers, but wanted the 'wings' to really stand out.

The roses/flowers were painted with Silver Frost just on the edges, and the bottom petals, and the foliage too.  No matter what the colour the Silver Frost is painted over, it gives a glorious shimmer, and I adore the way the flowers shine.

Resplendence Angel Dust upon angel wings

I added tiny glass lilac seed beads to the lace using Gemstone Glue. In the right light, they shine, especially with the beautiful Amethyst and Plum CIP's - I will be definitely be playing around with more beads in the near future.

Glittery XOXO Valentine

Good morning! It's Holly posting today, and I've got a glittery and pink-y Valentine card to share with you today.

See the "xoxo" chipboard piece? I covered that with some white gesso, and while the gesso was still wet, I poured some Resplendence Angel Dust glitter over it. I used my fingers to lightly press the glitter into the paint and set it aside to dry. You can see a close-up below:

Have you tried the new glitters and embossing powders from Creative Inspirations Paint? Why not order a few colors and try them for yourself? You will love them!

Just a little reminder - this week's challenge is inspired by hearts, so share your creations with us. We all love seeing your wonderful artwork!

Paper bag - Kianel

Hello dear Creative Inspirations paints lovers,
Kianel here with you today with the finished project i showed you last time using the new embossing powders and glitters from Creative Inspirations paints. Those are absolutely awesome so don't loose any minute now and go there to check them out.

I made a paperbag where i used many dies and many Creative Inspirations paints products: Paint, metallic inspirations, glitters and embossing powder!
I used the Creative Inspirations Paint called "burgundy" to cover all the letters of my title.

The adorable stamp from magnolia is coloured with distress ink and all the stripes are filled with Creative Inspirations Resplendensce glitter burgundy.

The bow is made using the marvellous Super Sparkle pink Deliquesce embossing powder which is a 2 tone embossing powder with a stunning effect.

There i chose to cover the bottom of my flower with the Resplendence Angel dust glitter.
The butterfly is decorated using the beautiful Metallic Inspirations matt purple.
And on all the borders of my patterned paper i used Deliquesce white embossing powder which gives a winter note and a used style to the paper.

The stamp and the patterned paper are from Magnolia. All the dies are from Cheery Lynn designs and the other decorations are coming from a french online shop.
I hope you will like that paper bag as much as i enjoyed creating it and don't hesitate to come and join us for our weekly challenge every sunday for a chance to win some beautiful Creative Inspirations products!
Love from France, Kianel.

My Initial Idea was...

Initial Idea?
OK,Dawn here today with a Creative Inspirations Paint project today using Initials!
These two letters were in my stash from clearance purchases and always meant for my daughter.
I used

and  Resplendence Angel Dust
Have you seen all the new glitters and embossing powders? I am so addicted to this  Angel Dust.
Let me share a couple pictures.
This is how the letters came-just that plain white wood.
I painted the letters with the Plum- it looks so different in person and my pictures.
I decided to add some trim from my stash on the sides and a fluffy bow in the middle.
Here is a blurry picture(SORRY) of all the sparkle- but it shows you how sparkly this glitter really is.
