Pretty Poinsettia

Only 14 days left until Christmas, and the hustle and bustle of the season is upon us! As we rush about, please try and remember what the Holiday means to you, the special moments, the love and the reason for the season! Enjoy!

I created the background for my card using Garnet, Evergreen and Winter Frost paints! I first die cut my poinsettia in various sizes with copy paper and laid them onto my white cardstock. I used low-tack tape to secure them so that they wouldn't move as I painted the background. With a paintbrush, I added Winter Frost first, then dabbed lightly with Garnet and Evergreen until I was pleased with the results. Once the paint was dry, I removed the copy paper poinsettias, and stamped with a poinsettia stamp using red ink in the stenciled areas.

Happy Thanksgiving ...

This week is a celebration of gratitude and family, and as my brothers and sister arrive for the holiday, I'm filled with thankfulness and blessings! Wishing you and yours the Happiest Thanksgiving full of laughter, love and yummy food and always be thankful for what you have, for there are many others who are less fortunate! ~ Enjoy!

I've created my scenic sunset using Buttercup, Raw Sienna, Pumpkin, Burnt Clay, Rustic Red, Burgundy and Coal in that order with a wet paintbrush. My poppies are die cut from black cardstock and a sentiment and bow finishes the card.

Fall Bliss ...

November in New York is when the leaves are almost all gone and we are settling in for a long winter. Soon, the leaves on the ground will be covered in snow, and all the beautiful colors of autumn will be a memory. Fall is my favorite season with the balmy weather, bright colors and time of harvest! I've created this card with these thoughts in mind! ~Enjoy~!

My leaves are from Spellbinders® Fall Foliage dies, and are cut from ivory cardstock, then painted with various mixtures of paints including: Burnt Clay, Pumpkin, Raw Sienna, Rustic Red, Emerald, Green Olive and Sunshine. Once dry, I used the cracked glass technique, then rubbed it with green ink to highlight the cracks. I layered them on an embossed background, attached a twine bow, tiny twigs and a fall sentiment to finish the card.

Have a blessed and creative day! ~ Darsie

Thankful for You!

I love the colors of Autumn with leaves and chrysanthemums in reds, yellows, greens and oranges. Today I have created a fall floral card that would be a perfect hostess gift at Thanksgiving or for any occasion where you are feeling most thankful.

I love to make flowers and CI paints have amazing color and shimmer to bring the petals to life. For my mum, I started by cutting 15 of the Blooms Two die from Spellbinders® with ivory paper. I painted the back side of each flower with Burgundy, then turned it over and painted the front with Burnt Clay.

With a dry embossing tool and foam mat, I shaped the petals into a cup and then touched the tips with Buttercup paint. I glued one flower on top of the other, and continued in that manner until I got the fullness I wanted for my larger mum. With leftover flowers, I created two smaller mums.

As a background for my mum, I cut various leaves from the Fall Foliage die set out of olive green cardstock, and painted them with Evergreen. I added a touch of Buttercup and Burnt Clay to the edges to show the changing of the leaves.

Have a blessed and creative day! ~ Darsie
