Two New Exchanges

The mail carrier was good to me yesterday; he left two wonderful packages in the mail. The first was from Patti who stitched for me in the Year Long Prairie Schooler exchange. She stitched this pretty design on 40 ct and used a great decorative trim on the edge, very nice choice!

Year Long Prairie Schooler Exchange
Stitched by: Patti

Patti included a gorgeous beaded fob that she made ~ the beads are beautiful. Thanks you so much Patti I love what you sent.
This is what I stitched and sent to Lillie:

Next, I received an amazing exchange from Ronel who stitched for me in the FTT Needlework exchange. I am not certain that the pictures will do this justice…

Ronel is a master at Stumpwork and I am truly honored to own a piece of her work. The detail on this is amazing; can you see the owl’s eyes? They are tiny! The flowers are a combination of red seed beads and French knots (?) and the dragonfly is made from beads with wings stitched in gold thread. The stitching is perfect in every way.
Oh, did I mention that it is a needlebook? This too is perfectly constructed. Given the range of Ronel’s talent, I imagine that she made the lovely pins as well. Ronel also stitched a beautiful little scissor fob, personalizing it on the back with my initials.

In addition Ronel included some Madeira Silk threads (in my favorite color), needles, a pink tape measure, charms, and a fragrant sachet. Thanks you so much Ronel for a wonderful exchange!

I took a trip to San Antonio this past weekend and stopped in at Cross Stitch Plus where I managed to find a few "must have" patterns and a bit of fabric:

Blackbird Design
Glorious June
I also managed to find two floral frogs and a dish for one of the frogs. I saw this on a blog (sorry can't remember who posted this fabulous idea) and loved it.

What a great scissor holder!!!

Thanks for stopping by and I do hope that you find time to stop by again~
Until next time...

Prairie Schooler FOB Sent ~ Meet Misha

I heard from Paula C. that she received the Prairie Schooler Fans Scissor Fob Exchange that I sent so I can post pictures. Since Paula is collecting PS Christmas Ornaments I decided to stitch a Santa design. The design was a bit large for a fob, so I decided to stitch it on 32 count over one; this is how it turned out:

Stitched For: Paula C.

Designer: Prairie Schooler ~ Book #43
Design: Father Christmas
Stitched on 32ct Linen over 1
Stitched for Paula C.
I really like it when I receive a stitched item that is personalized, so I am trying to do that on the ones that I send out.

This was a fun exchange, I will be keeping my eye out for additional exchanges with this group of stitchers!

I am posting this picture especially for Rob, Michelle's husband....

Vermont Deer
A few weeks ago I was in Vermont and happened to look out the window and see five of these beautiful creatures in the apple orchard. I quickly got the camera and was able to snap their picture before they scurried off. This is almost a daily occurrence, I guess they realize that they are always safe on our 40 acres!!!
Unless of course they meet up with this critter:

"Misha"

MISHA!!! my 11 year old, 6 1/2 pound Yorkshire Terrier who is sweet as can be unless she sees the deer, at which time she becomes a wild beast and chases after them! The picture was taken this winter when we had a huge snowfall and the snow was too deep for her to walk in. She is quite fashionable in her faux fir coat! Yes, I am still looking for a female Yorkie puppy but have not had any luck locating the perfect one.

To answer your question Michelle: some of the blackbird Design patterns call for crushed walnut shells to fill Pincushions. :)

Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

Until next time...

Prairie Schooler Exchange

What a great mail day! I was so very excited to see a box from Paula C. at my door! Paula is my exchange partner for the Prairie Schooler Fans Scissor FOB exchange. This is my first exchange with this group, but it is not my first exchange with Paula C. We were partners in the Fair & Square Exchange so I knew that this would be an extra special FOB. Paula's work is truly amazing and this tiny treasure is no exception! She tells me that this is her very first attempt at making a Biscornu ~ I find this very hard to believe! I have wanted to try this technique but it scares me. People tell me it is not difficult, even Paula said it was easier than expected, but I have yet to overcome my fear. Well, at least I now have one...my VERY first and I am so happy!

In addition Paula sent some wonderful extras: A fabric fat quarter, beautiful scissors, a jar of crushed walnut shells (useful in some of the Blackbird designs), and some Gourmet Huckleberry Creme Coffee (can't wait to try this).

A huge thank you Paula for making this such a wonderful exchange! I am going to treasure this Biscornu FOB! I hope that you find time to get a Blog up and running so that you can share your beautiful work with so many others.

Paula's exchange was mailed out today so I can not share pictures just yet...I will once I know that she has received it.

Yikes, it is almost 4am ~ I guess it is time to go to bed! Probably had WAY to much coffee today...I just can't help it, really.

Until next time...
