More warm fuzzies to add to my blankey

fibre5 by you.fibre4 by you.fibre 2 by you.

With renewed interest and because summer just screams for me to make warm and toasty things, I have begun knitting again. I'm getting faster too but don't be expecting me to do any of those fancy stitchy things. Hey do knitters time themselves? Like you know how typists can type so many words a minute. OK so what about how many stitches per minute? Knitting races!! Can you imagine the taunting as you knit like a beast, psyching out your opponent, cussing and knitting with gritted teeth. Oh yeah. eXtreme Knitting! I want in on that if it ever becomes a sport.
Socks are next
3 pairs awaiting heels.

*pats self on back* Curly scarf success

Yes! I finally figured it out darlings and don't I feel so clever. I have a long way to go but it is addictive. The yarn is a cotton/bamboo mix and its as soft as a babies backside. at $2.99AUD for 50grams I thought it was pretty reasonable.
OK enough chit chat. It is my eBay day today. Well that's what it says on my agenda for the week so it must be so. Ta Ta for now!

Silly me, I forgot to post the link to the pattern. Here it is at Unravelled
Give it a go! The finished product looks scrummy

So I think I am clever because I can knit socks right, so I choof off to Spotlight and pick up a Patons zchivago Book of jumpers because my husband said he would like one. I thought this one was nice and certainly do able for a simple sock pattern master like myself. Well, my husband gave that face that said "please don't make me that, I hate it" then he commented the young pretty models who made him feel old and a jumper on those people simply couldn't look good on him. He would only settle for what he calls a fisherman's jumper So I wasted $12.95 on the blasted pattern book which will be heading for eBay soon and I also am left with an order for 22 balls of dark grey zchivago wool. I tell this to my crafty shop ladies and Joyce, my 83 year old friend scolds me and says she has a life time of pattern book I can use for free, and what my husband wants is an Aran jumper pattern(ok I say, acting as if I know what or who Aran is)

So the next day Joyce scoots up to my door on her electric wheelchair and hands me a bunch of pattern books. My dear M chose this one. Not the easy one that was a simple pearl plain kinda one that Joyce recommended. He wants this one......... I cannot even understand the pattern. My head hurts reading it. So, fine, OK, I will do it....... wish I'd just stuck to socks.

Off to paint, the sun is shining YAY

Doc Martins Unlove and sock love

Finished socks, just in time for boot wearin weather. Now I can start on my next pair.

About Doc Martins...... I have worn DM's since I cant remember when. Mum always brought some back from her trips to the UK when she visited the rellies and they lasted years and years. Up to 5, 6, 8 yrs and that was with everyday wear and lots of love because I love love love my DM's. Then I noticed that they started making them in China or Taiwan or some where(the country of origin has worn off) and these are now 2 yrs old with tears in the leather and the so called air step didnt have the bounce I knew and loved from previous DM's. The ones before that were from the UK but made elsewhere and they lasted the same. I am a total boot care nut too so its not from neglect, I mean I have been maintaining DMs for 20 plus years. So ! My love affair with Doc Martins is over unless some one can tell me where to get the real ridgey didge made in a country that CARES about QUALITY kind of Doc Martins. And I want the old Bounce back too. Any one else noticed the downgrading of quality of DM's? For $180 to $300 bucks a pair I expect more. As we all should. Why are we made to settle for crap quality yet pay the same price as when it was good quality?

I am going to try to find a good boot that is manufactured in the country that claims to own it. Its time I fell in love with a new boot. After all, the old one has betrayed me and I'm still young and have a lot of walking left in me. Nancy Sinatra's version of "these boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do, one of these day these boots are gonna walk all over you ... ... ... ... ... ... ... running through my head as I finish this post. Stomping off now. Blog ya later!

Aways knitting never fancy, never hard, but always treasured blankeys

I am obsessed with blankeys. Apparently I was very attatched to one when I was younger and my mum gave it some kind of ceremony so that I could get over the loss of it (after she tossed it in the bin).
I wonder how parentally correct that kind of thing is nowadays? I better make sure these ones can withstand 20 yrs or so until the kids can afford therapy for when the day comes and they have to say good bye to their blankey or I might find I have the bad parent police on my door step. They seem to be every where now!
Anyhow. I did love my blankey and I have done what any well adjusted person would do. I made myself a truckload of them. I made mum one too, just so she knows I am a good sport, after all, it was 40 years ago....

A Blue blankey of squares for Jaz because she learnt knitting, tried knitting and hated knitting. I guess I will finish it!

A heavy random brown blanket for Dad because brown is a very blokey colour for a blankey, should a bloke ever be seen with one

A stripey Blue one for Connor and maybe some red as requested by his lordship because 6 year olds insist that red and blue look cool in blankeys......and maybe some pink mum. What about maybe some yellow too?.........

My iced Vovo. mmm scrummy!!! This one is mine!

A sea of green. Started May 8th 2005. The day I quit smoking and discovered knitting and food...........
