Way to Go Green!

Hello everyone and Happy Wednesday! It's already been a very busy week for me here! First, my internet was out for the weekend, and then, last night our power went out! I feel like I haven't blogged in forever!

Boy do I have a treat for you today! I always save things around my house to see if I can alter them or create something with them somehow. I have heard of others doing toilet paper roll albums, but I have never tried one myself... until now!

It doesn't even look like it was made with toilet paper rolls, right?

Do you want to know how I made this?

If so, you're in luck! For my first post as a Pink by Design DT member, I posted a step by step tutorial on how to make this album! CLICK HERE to check out my post with the full tutorial!

I'm also using this project for the "Tie it On" challenge over at My Craft Spot. I LOVE to tie on ribbon & twine on almost every project, so this challenge was easy for me! Head on over there and check out all of the other fabulous challenge entries!

If you're interested in this album, it is now available for purchase in my etsy shop later today :-)

Thanks for stopping by!

Made It Myself Mondays!

Happy Monday everyone! Did you all have fun last week checking out all of the awesome projects last week from Alex's "Made It Myself Mondays"? I know I did! Everyone's projects were so inspiring, so I decided to try it again this week! :-)

For today's project, I wanted to dig up another one of my "green" projects that I made. I know a lot of you save things to alter, so I'm always getting new ideas on things to alter!

For this project, I decided to make "Soup Can Flower Pots." A good way to go green, right?

First, I picked out some pretty acrylic paints that I wanted to use for the cans. After I painted them and let them dry, I sprayed them with some glitter.

Second, I chose my pretty papers and cut some flowers and flourishes with my cricut. Then I took my hot glue gun and glued the pieces to bamboo skewers.

Next, I took styrofoam squares and glued them into the bottom of the cans with hot glue. Take your flowers/skewers and stick them down into the styrofoam. I usually poke a hole then pull the skewer back out and put a little hot glue on it and stick it back in so it will stay.

Last, I stuffed the cans with paper shreds to fill the empty spots. you can also spray these with a little glitter to give them that extra sparkle. I also tied some ribbon around the cans for a finishing touch.

And here is my finished project:

These make great gifts too! Real flowers wilt and die, but paper flowers last forever! :-)

I hope you enjoyed this project! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Earth Day!

It seems like EVERYONE is "Going Green" nowdays! Especially this week since today is Earth Day! The ebay design team that I'm on (MLDT) has also decided to Go Green this week! Here is my contribution to the challenge:

I had some old prima flower jars that I was saving back for a rainy day, so I decided to "recycle" them for the challenge! You can also see a line of Making Memories paints, I haven't used them in years, so I also dug them out for this little project.

I actually had a lot of fun with this and I think the lids turned out very pretty after I sprayed them with glitter and added a clear coat {as you can see, I used nail polish... the fumes kind of got to me!!!}

I used some scrap paper that I had laying around from the Basic Grey "Urban Prarie" line {I've been using it for my Cruise album as well}

The jars say "Live, Love, Laugh, Believe, Dream, Create"
