Most of you know I adopted/rescued Daisy 3 yrs ago when she was 7 yrs old. Daisy had 2 former owners and last owner took her to the shelter indicating she did not listen. After putting down my dog, Teddy, who had cancer of the tongue I went online and looked at the dogs at the shelter. Did not want a puppy. Saw 2 dogs I was interested in. Went to shelter and walked both dogs. Next 2 days I went back and walked Daisy again. On the 3rd day I adopted/rescued Daisy paying $20 (1/2 the cost of adoption since she was an older dog) for her and it was the best $20 I ever spent. I took Daisy thru Petco basic dog training Level I and she completed Level I before 6 wks was up and moved onto Level II. She completed Level II and graduated.
I feel it is the responsibility of the pet owner to train the dog because otherwise they do not know what is expected of them. Daisy knew to potty outside but did not know any commands. Now she knows all her commands and I walk her everyday.
