Tip Thursday 9/10/20 - Color Tags & Dry Embossing

Welcome to a Tip on Thursday. I'm Melissa, nickname "Sunshine HoneyBee", an independent Close To My Heart CTMH Consultant, and I want to share some tips I have learned in a weekly tutorial named Tip on Thursday.

For this Tip on Thursday I want to share with you how to make color tags and do dry embossing. This will allow you to have the colors on hand to look at and decide what to coordinate with.

If you would like me to make you a set of the color tags (without  the metal ring) please comment or message me.

Supplies & Tools you will need are:

1. cardstock - new colors
    Blue Belle, Scarlet, Cinnamon, Avocado, Grape, Dessert Rose 

2. Die to cut tags - I used Tags & Tabs Z3726 

3. Die cutting machine - mine is a Sizzix BIGkick
4. Die cutting plates qty 2
5. Embossing plates (you can use same die cutting plates but I have 2 that are not all scratched up and use for embossing only
6. Shims qty 2
7. washi tape
8. pen to write color names - I used a calligraphy fountain pen 
9. metal ring to put tags on 

Steps

 1. Cut the cardstock 2 1/4" x 3 1/2"
  to fit the tag die that is 2" x 3 3/8"

2. Use washi tape to attach the die to cardstock so it does not shift when die cutting

3. Using a die cutting plate put die face up and cover with 2nd die cutting plate

4. Run the die cut thru the die cutting machine

5. Using embossing plates adjust the tabs on die cutting machine base for embossing. Put die cut face down on embossing plate, put shims on top, cover with 2nd embossing plate.

6. Run thru die cutting/embossing machine

 7. You will get a nice crisp dry embossed look

8. Repeat die cutting & dry embossing for each color cardstock

9. When done die cutting & dry embossing write the names of the colors on the tags.

10. Place the tags on the metal ring.

#2 Light Merry Christmas Card

Created this Christmas card using a sketch which you can see below. Used a Sizzix Light die. Before I had a Cricut I had Sizzix dies like this and have kept them and found many uses for them. Used colors: green, red, silver & white. Used couple pattern papers. Embossed the background. Added some washi tape. This was second time I had stamped on washi tape. This was second time I had used heat embossing on washi tape.

Tandem Bicycle Card

Hubby & I have a Tandem Bicycle that we ride. I cannot ride a regular bicycle. Never learned and at my age I'm not going to learn.  I tell people that even though I cannot ride a regular bicycle I can ride a Tandem and also I can pilot a single engine plane. How about that!

Used The Craft's Meow Tandem stamps on this card. When I first rcvd this stamp and stamped the sentiment I thought some of the letters 'ot yo' were not stamping properly but then I saw that the stamped image on the plastic pkg had the letters that way. 

I like using Tim Holtz Distress Inks for an inked background. On this card I used TH Distress Inks: mowed lawn & salty ocean. Allowed for dry time.

Stamped Tandem Bicycle after background dried. Stamped sentiment. Used Spellbinder for sentiment tag.

Embossed the Sky with Stampin' Up Cloudy Days embossing folder. Embossed the ground with Cuttlebug Baby's Breath embossing border.

Added stickers: Sun & Bee. Do you get that I added my nickname "Sunshine HoneyBee" ? Added stickles, ribbon & bow.

Panda Love Congrats Card for Daughter

Created this Easel Style Congrats card for my Daughter who made the Dean's List at Kansas City Art Institute this semester as a Junior taking 18 hours studying for double Bachelor Degrees in Art Animation & Art History. She received As in: Art Studio Animation, Art Studio Illustration, Art Islamic Art History & Anatomy. She received B+ in Philosophy. We are so proud of her.

One of my favorite wild animals is Pandas. One of my Daughter's favorite wild animals is Pandas and her favorite color is green.

Printed the Panda Love digi on white cardstock. Used Spellbinder to cut out digi. Used white cardstock for base of easel style card. Used 2 shades of core'dinations green  cardstock. Used Martha Stewart Vine Trim edge punch.

Thanksgiving Turkey Card

Created this Thanksgiving card using Simple Charmed Cricut cartridge for the Turkey.

Used Kraft cardstock for Base. Used the Paper Studio Thanksgiving Words scrapbook paper for layer. Used all scrap paper to make the Turkey. Used Cuttlebug embossing folder D'vineSwirls on Turkey feather area & Cuttlebug embossing Swiss Dots on Turkey front of body. Used VersaMark ink & Stamp N Plus Gold Nugget chalk onTurkey feather area. Used Tim Holtz Distress Ink gathered twigs & ripe persimmon on edges. Used Spellbinder Oval die for sentiment tag.
