Gypsy Question

Does anyone know if Cricut is discontinuing the Gypsy? A friend's Gypsy is not working properly. She phoned Cricut and was told that if she bought a new Gypsy, mailed both Gypsy devices that they would put the card from the old Gypsy inside her new Gypsy and return the new Gypsy to her. She cannot find a new Gypsy to buy. Circut shows out of stock. She wants to know if the Gypsy is being discontinued so people will use the Craftroom instead. Please comment if you know anything about this.

Update: 5/17/12 11:13am CT
Phoned Provo Craft 800# and asked them what's up with the Gypsy. Spoke to a nice & friendly rep named Joyce and she said that they are awaiting a new shipment of Gypsy devices since they are out of stock currently. She also said she hopes that the 'download' from CraftRoom to Gypsy is going to be available. She said 'hope' so she did not know if this was happening or not for definite. She did say that if the 'download' option happens that you will not have to buy a new Gypsy. I also asked her about warranty on the Gypsy and she said it is 1 yr. I wanted to know whether the warranty on mine had another full yr from Fall of last yr and she said no that the warranty is based on the old one. Hoping mine does not go on the blitz. I asked her about having to reset my Gypsy using the stylus and she said that this happens a lot due to information overload.

Hot Chocolate CAS Thank You Card

Created this Hot Chocolate Clean And
Simple (CAS) Thank You Card when I got
the idea to use the foam adhesives to be
marshmallows.

Used my Gypsy that I got a replacement for.
After performing Sync which took over an hr.
Linked Christmas Cheer cartridge so I
could use the hide option to separate the
swirls above mug & the drink inside the mug.

Gypsy security breach

When I turned on my Gypsy this morning the following
appeared on my Gypsy screen:

Gypsy has detected a security breach and will shut down.
If you find this to be in error contact provocraft.com/gypsy

code 2

Has anyone else had this problem?

I phoned ProvoCraft 1-800-937-7686 and spoke to a
woman named Gena who stepped me thru checking
out my Gypsy using my laptop. Downloaded & exceuted
the Gypsy Sync software. had done this with my former
Dell laptop but had not done so with my new Toshiba
laptop that my hubby gave me for Mother's Day when
my Dell laptop bit the dust. My Gypsy would not respond
properly to restarting it in normal mode so Gena looked
up my Gypsy warranty info and it was still under warranty.
I had bought my Gypsy Oct last yr 2010. She said that I
would receive an email with a FedEx return postage
mailing label to print and mail back the Gypsy along with
the 4 chords. She said to keep the stylus & slip cover.
She said they would issue a new one with me same
serial number and it would have the additional cartridges
on it that I had received by buying it during a promotion
last Oct. She said that it would take 4-6 wks before I
would receive a new one.

Last night I had made a Hello Kitty Halloween project on
the Gypsy and now have to create it the old fashioned
way, the non-Gypsy way.

Owl Pirate Skull Crossbones Halloween Card

Created this Owl Pirate Halloween Card
and knew when the challenge at Cardztv
indicated to use an Owl for Halloween I
was going to make a Halloween Pirate
theme card.

Paper Cutz challenge indicated to use a skeleton
or skull & crossbones CUTE and NOT SPOOKY
this fit right in with the Pirate theme. I had fun with
the many skull & crossbones stamps. I'm sure I
kept it CUTE even with the 'Dead End' on the back
of card.

Scrappy Moms Terrific Tues Challenge indicated
to use
Mini Monsters Cricut cartridge so this meant
the Owl would have a pumpkin to carry to use for
Trick or Treating.

There's an Artist in my House - Locker Talk

Yes, there's an Artist in my house - my daughter!

Created this plaque for my daughter who is studying Art Animation and is now in her sophomore year of college.

Kept it simple because after trying a couple different ideas I made more of a mess.
One idea was to use some of daughter's old oil paints.
I had paint all over my fingers as well as part of the project in the wrong places.
