PG-13 V-day cards

A challenge has been presented among a scrapbooking group (on the CC MB) for the month of Febuary to create "bra and panty" cards in an effort to draw attention to Breast Cancer.  As many of you know I have a dear friend who was diagnosed with BC last year and this is very near and dear to my heart.  I couldn't pass up an opportunity to do something for this great cause.  It also so happens that this week's theme on the CCblog is to create something valentine's day themes using sequins, gems or ribbon.  So I thought this would be a great week to tie two challenges together.

To create the card I used my Gypsy and a heart from George and Basic shapes.  I made a cut file for the base by welding the shapes together...I also made a cut file for the bra and panties, so the card came together pretty quickly.  For the edge of the bra and panties I used decorative edge sissors and hand cut those layers, then applied glitter.  I also hadded some gems for extra bling.  The necklase is made of a beaded ribbon with a gem attached.

This is the front of the card.  I decide to make a "full figured" lady, as opposed to a string bikini.

Back of the card.

Here is a picture of the unfoled card so you can see the front and back and how they fit together.

For a little extra fun, I thought this lady was a bit lonely, and she needed a companion.  The second card (boy) was created using a naughty SVG file :)  It was part of a kit that I purchased from SVGcuts.com that had 24 valentines day cards.  It was a flat image that I welded into a card in SCAL, and decorated to match the bra and panty card.

Front of the boxer card.  I free hand cut the "fly" to help differentiate the front from the back and added a small button brad.  I also added some sattin ribbin to the waste line and a glittered heart for extra fun.

Big Sister/ Little Sister Dresses

My BFF is expecting her second daughter in just a few weeks.  I have been wanting to create something special for the girls, and found these cute Zebra Print dresses at my local Walmart store, and thought that they would be perfect for personalizing.   I used my Cricut Machine and Sure Cuts a Lot software to create the fun Big/Little sister phrases and added them to the store bought dresses.  I can't wait to see the girls in their new outfits (of course after the baby arrives)

A vday mail box for my son

DSC_0586.jpg

I recently bought the cutest SVG v-day mailbox set from svgcuts.com.  The set has three adroable mailboxes that are SVG format.
Valentine Mailboxes SVG Kit

Instead of making it totally girlie, I choose to go with more of a boy theme.  I made the mail box base out of green glitter paper, used a toystory print for the accent pannels and then used the Cricut Toy Story Cartridge to make the Aliens.  I used CTMH stamps for the "valentines" in the hands of the aliens.  Because I cut the Aliens at only 4 inches I choose to draw in some of the smaller cuts (neck rings, belts, eyeballs).

surprise- we are going to Disney World

Today we are flying to Flordia to take a quick break before school starts up again in a week.  My husband and I have elected to not tell our boys that we are going on the trip or the details of the trip!  We have done this mostly to avoid the hyperactivity that surrounds a trip & the lack of sleep.   I have set post up a few days in advance, but if all is on schedule we should be on a plane to FL right now with the boys.

And if you are a regular visitor here, you should know that I love making shirts!  So, what's a trip to FL & Disney World without a dorky set of matching shirts for the whole family?!?!?

This years design was created using SCAL, and my cricut.  I found a fun dingbat online that had the Fantasia Mickey hat, then added the date and phrase.   While this was pretty simple to created I love the end result!  I used black glitter HTV for three of the shirts (mine and the boys) and as my hubby was dead set against wearing a glittery shirt, his is made out of regular HTV.

A fun Christmas shirt

Oh, boy, have I been crafty this week!  I think I have completed enough projects this month to keep my blog regularly updated for the rest of the year!

I love making t-shirt and today I whipped out a quick and easy HTV shirt & for once this shirt is actually for me!  I found a lovely image on Pinterest this week.  I have tried finding the designer to seek permission, but it is difficult to trackdown because of the way pinterest works.  This is the image from Pinterest.
Merry Christmas tree

I was able to save the image to my computer, the import it into SCAL.  I made a few changes to the image to make it a bit easier to cut.  I love the way it turned out...but after I took the picutures I realized I had somehow weeded out the letter I.  Luckily, I was able to find it in my scraps and fix my mistake!

Hope you enjoy

Missing the I....LOL

OH so cute SVG files

As you all know I am a cricut girl at heart.  I love my machines and my cartridges and I am a HUGE collector---SHHHH don't tell my husband, of all things ProvoCraft.  However, I find that sometimes there are things that I want to make that PC just doesn't offer.  I purchased Sure Cuts a Lot long ago and I am so thankful that I did!  The program allows me to use SVG files and cut them with my cricut.  I think it stinks that the program is no longer available.  If it ever stops working on my machine I know it will be time to move on from my PC loyalty and start looking at other machines.

So, this morning I was over at SVGCUTS.com and found some really amazing sets.  I bought a few and worked on some projects with them today.  I officially love this set!

The hat comes off the snow man revealing a hollow tube that can be filled with candy, and the two smaller tubes are also candy dishes.  I am planning to fill them with goodies (yogart rasins, nuts, and such) to take to my MIL's house on Christmas day.  I think the kids will love it and they will have healthy treats to snack on until dinner!

Oh, and just one more thing to add.  This set is not only amazing it is a FREEBIE.  With any $9.98 purchase from SVGCUTS.com this week you will get the set for free.  You can find the details here!

A flower card and arrangement

As many of you know I am a student.  I have been in school for the last several working towards the ultimate goal of applying for nursing school.  As part of my course work I needed to take two semesters of human anatomy and physiology (A&P).  I am nearly done with this work and will complete it in just a month :)  For the last semester and a half I have had the same professor.  While the class isn't easy she is a very knowledgeable and understanding professor.  Earlier in the semester she was injured and will be having surgery over the Thanksgiving break- next week.  I decided it would be nice to make her a card and have the entire class sign it.  After completing the card I had a fair amount of "extra" flowers and decided to make a small arrangement to go with the flowers.  I would guess that this has about 10 hours of work into the project, but I am thrilled with the final results.  i am looking forward to giving these to Professor Becker tomorrow.

The flowers were all cut using the Mother's day boquet cartridge.  The Flower pot card is a naughty "program that sall not be named" cut.  The envelope was cut with just because cards and the small card inside was from Art Philosophy.  All stamps were Close to My Heart.  Of course lots of bling and glitter were also used.

Pinkilicious Birthday Shirts

A few weeks ago my friend Sheena shared an image with me of a "Pinkilicious" shirt. She seems to have much faith in my crafty skills because she asked me to create something similar for her daugher's birthday. As she has two girls very close in age we decided that both girls would need a shirt. So, here is what I came up with.

This is the shirt for the birthday girl Addison

For the birthday girl's sister-Reese

Each shirt used glitter HTV for the name and the bottom of the cupcake. I used a font on my computer and SCAL to do the names, for the base of the cupcakes I used the Sweet Treats Cricut Cartridge. For the top of the cupcakes I used rose ribbon purchased by the yard at Hobby Lobby.

Here is a photo of the flower ribbon. I pinned this on, the used my sewing machine to tack it in place. For the cherry, I started with an iron on cherry that I found at Joann. However, the cherry was just too plain so I used some fabric glue, sequins, and glitter to jazz the cherries up. Because I am not sure how the cherries will hold up in the wash I decided to put the cherries on pin backing to make sure that they can be removed before washing.
