A digital Scrapping Kind of Day

Layoutdoubletake-1.jpg

As I am still not back to 100% from this fight against strep throat, I decided today would be a great day to just sit infront of my computer instead of actually crafting.  LOL.

Today, I want to introduce all of you to a dear friend of mine, Kimberly Phillips.  Kim is the owner and creative mind behind Little Bees Graphics.  Her company (read she) designs custom invitations for baby showers, weddings, bridal showers, and so much more!  I'm not talking about slapping some stuff around in Photoshop- like I did today, I mean, she draws EVERY design by hand!  I have been amazed by Kim's art skills since we were kids, we met in Kindergarden in 1980 something :)  My level of respect for her runs deep and I am privilaged to count her among my friends.

I have been working hard to convince Kimberly Phillips that she needs to dive into the world of digital scrapbooking, and potentially into SVG creation.  While, I have yet to win that battle I did talk her into providing me with a few of her images so that I could use them in a digital layout.  Please be sure to visit Kim on Facebook by clicking here, and tell her how amazing you think her designs are!  You can also visit her ETSY store to check out all of her amazing invites and designs :)

Kim created the Brown stiped background, the Dinos, the dots, and the scalloped boarder...I worked my magic in photoshop to do the rest.  As you can see I have once again "cheated" and created two very similar works using just one basic layout.

A layout double take- CTMH Typeset Duo

I am a total cheater when it comes to scrapbooking.  I often make 2 or 3 of the same layout for each of our family albums- one for each of the boys and one for the family.  I also do most of my scrapping in 8x8 for ease of time and space.

This year both of my boys are in Preschool and I wanted to create pages for them with a fall photo to mark the school year in their albums.  This time I tried not to cheat, but I just couldn't help it.  So, to make them just a little different, I used reverse patterns on their pages.  I just can't say enough about the CTMH duos!  The patterns are beautiful and the paper is of excellent quality.  Even more amazing my cricut loves cutting this paper- it doesn't tear, rip, catch the blade, fray at the edges or anything else.

Everything used in the creation of these two pages was CTMH.  I used the Art Philosophy cartridge to cut the shapes for the buttons and the journal tag in the upper right corner and the postage stamp shape anchoring the photos.  I used the millpost shapes- STARS, to add a bit of dimension.  The letters are cut from the cartridge as well and there are a could of stickers on the page that are typeset complements-canvas shapes.  I used CTMH inks for stamping the  buttons and lines on the journal spot, and inking the edges of the letters.  The stamp set used is the Exclusive set that comes in the TYPESET Workshop on the go!  Oh, and did you notice the ABC boarder strip in the middle of the page- that is a zip strip, a small band of pattern attached to each sheet of CTMH patterned paper (on the reverse of the paper info that would normally be cut off and tossed!)

Mickey- disney layout

My family and I visted WDW in January.  I am quite slow to get the scrapbooks done as I have been working on a lot of vinyl and yudu lately.  I am also a PT student, mother, and am organizing a crop right now, so my crafting time is very limited.  This is a layout I completed while in Dallas at the Cricut Circle Stampede.  I love the way it turned out, and I hope you all do to.  Oh, and as many of you know I tend to scrap in multiples so that each of my boys have their own albums and I also keep a family album.  The Layouts tend to me almost identicle but the pictures tend to be specific to the album.

I used the mickey from Mickey and Friends and the word Mickey was the negative from another cut I made.  Mickey was glittered using loose glitter and my Toner Tex write and rub glue pens- I love them!  One of these days I am going to get around to putting up a tutorial about the glue!

Blake with the WDW display at the airport- but it was so cute!

9 Ladies Dancing- Circle Challenge

This week's Cricut Circle Challenge is one that at first I wasn't interested in doing.  I have created 2 projects this week already using SWD and I couldn't imagine coming up with another one.  But when I saw that the directions said to create any type of project I choose, I decided to take it as a personal challenge.  My intent is to use the cartridge, fufill the requirements, but provide a project that is outside the box for SWD.

Here are this week's instructions:

Weekly Challenge #12: Nine Ladies Dancing Challenge!

We have a really fun challenge for you today! For the Nine Ladies Dancing Challenge we want you to strut your stuff with your Cricut Circle Exclusive “Shall We Dance?” cartridge. You can create any kind of project you would like . . . but here is the twist . . . there needs to be NINE of SOMETHING on your project. Nine of anything! Nine buttons, nine flowers, exactly nine letters in a title, etc. Just as long as their is nine of something. Have fun!

Now for my project:

This is a photo of my son Blake taken just a few weeks ago.  His preschool does not offer school photos, but I do photos with him twice a year.  So, I have decided this is the photo that will go into his school book for this year.  I used 3 cuts from SWD for the layout.  The photo frame and mat were both cut from SWD along with the 1-2-3 in the bottom right of the photo mat.  The word "preschool" and the year "2010" and "ABC" were cut from Cake Basics using both the font and the font shaddow.  I used a Martha Stewart punch at the bottom for the train border a star punch for the green stars.  FUFILLING THIS WEEKS REQUIREMENTS: I have used multiple cricut cuts, used the SWD cartridge for three complete cuts, and there are exactly 9 (nine) of those green glittery stars!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peak at this project!  Here are a few more photos:
