Arteza Watercolor - By the Seaside

Happy Saturday!

Back in October, I bought Arteza watercolor pens with grand plans to try them out over the Christmas-New Years break from work.  That didn't happen, however I found a weekend in February to try them out.  If you haven't seen the videos on Facebook, here is one, they looked so fun and easy and they actually were!  They have real brush tip with the watercolor pigment in the barrel, like a marker.  Apply full color to the page or dip in water or wet your water color paper to create the water color effect and to blend.

I found an un-used Joann's gift card in January, so I decide to get some new stamps.  This one was picked out for this Arteza watercolor pen experiment.  The rubber stamp from France, Carabelle Studio "En Bord de Mer" (By the Seaside).

I was kind of blown away by how easy and well these Real brush pens worked.  I used Tim Holtz water color paper and used my We R Memory Makers Precision Press and Memento Black ink to stamp the image.

The base card is 5 x 7 so a larger card than I usually make.  It is a large stamp.  The precision press allowed me to re-ink and re-stamp, since the water color paper is textured.  So hard to get a full image on the first try.  I made several cards, some with the stamped image on the smoother side of the water color paper and a couple on the textured side.  The image I'm showing today is stamped on the smooth side of the watercolor paper.

Close-Up:

Arteza Real brush Colors:
Sun: A128 Bumble Bee Yellow, A121 Honey, A156 Sunset Yellow
Boats: A169 Orange Rust, A190 Rouge Pink, A101 Red, A195 Punch Pink, A182 Wine Red, A181,  A162 Lavender, A125 Orchid Purple
Water: Spearmint Blue
Sky: A159 Cyan Blue
Lighthouse:   A178 Ginger, A115 Smoke Gray

PaperTrey Ink - Guiding Lights 2

Happy Saturday!

I have another card using the set Guiding Lights from PaperTrey Ink.

This card uses a mirror of the layout I posted a couple weeks ago,
using a different lighthouse stamp.
I really like how this one came out.  This card went to a
friend who had surgery and loves lighthouses.

I made a second card with a greeting for
the next time I need a card.
All the hills are different, I used a die from
Taylored Expressions - Rolling Hills.

Inks: PTI Black, Americana, Soft Stone
Cardstock: PTI Spring Rain, Aqua Mist, New Leaf, White

King of the Grill - Week 2

Happy Saturday!

I have a couple more cards this week using
King of the Grill from PaperTrey Ink.

This is such a fun set.  I used my We R Memory Keepers

I stamped each layer 2-3 times to get the deep and even color.

Here is the second layout:

Inks: PTI Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Pure Poppy, Summer Sunrise,
New Leaf, Amethyst Allure, Ripe Avocado
Cardstock: PTI Pure Poppy and Dark Chocolate

On the Railroad

Happy Saturday!

Today, I have a masculine card using Tim Holtz set - On the Railroad.

I showed a tutorial using a cling mount
rubber stamp a couple weeks ago,
using the We R Memory Keepers Precision Press.

In case you missed it...

Since this stamp comes indexed with the image,
I placed my cardstock on the base, then positioned the stamp on the paper.

Closed the acrylic cover...

now your stamp is ready for ink...

ink it up...

Close the cover and press evenly.
So easy.

Now, here is the card I made.  I colored it with chalks and
added some jute cord and a metal gear embellishment.

Cardstock: PTI Americana, True Black and Kraft

We R Precision Press Tutorial

Happy Saturday!

Today, I have a really simple 'Thinking of you' card
using Just Rite Sentimental Damask.

I used this set last week, however since then I got a new tool !!
So, I thought I would show
the We R Memory Keepers Precision Press in use.

Background stamps are hard when you have short fingers.
I've always had trouble with larger stamps
that requires gripping an acrylic block 5" or larger.

Where has this tool been all my life?!?

We R Memory Keepers Precision Press
Inks: PTI Enchanted Evening, True Black
Cardstock: PTI White, Enchanted Evening
Just Rite Sentimental Damask

I positioned the 4.25" x 5.5" white cardstock, so the center of the width
is on the 3" mark and the top edge against the straight edge.
Then, secured it with low-tack painters tape.

The acrylic cover has a nice 1/8" square grid - so helpful.
I positioned the upper stamp center on the 3" mark,
down 1 square from the top.
The second stamp I positioned with a .25" gap for the sentiment.

I checked the position of the stamp on the cardstock.
Nicely centered.

Ink the stamp side.

Close the cover and press evenly, then open.
I have to say one of the nicest thing is being able to close
the cover again if a spot didn't ink properly.
The repeat-ability is perfect. Love that!

Make one or a stack of images.

Then I picked out a sentiment.

Aligned the sentiment stamp in the stamped image.
Close the acrylic cover...

...and the sentiment sticks to the cover.
Ink the sentiment.  I used black.

Close the cover and press evenly.

Finished stamped image.

Simple card - so easy.

There are several stamp presses out there,
varying sizes, styles and cost $10-50.
The expensive ones use magnets to hold the paper.
I love magnets, but I chose this one because it was half the cost.

After some research, I liked the design of this one best.
One piece and the size is good for storage.
The stamp area is 6x6", which is large enough for me
and open on 2 sides in case I want to use a larger sheet of cardstock.
I'm really happy with it.

I know your wondering...
It works with clear stamps, but does it work for thicker
rubber mounted cling stamps too?

YES!

The hinge is slotted vertically to handle thicker stamps too.

Here is my 1st try with a cling mount rubber stamp.
This is a Tim Holtz set - On the Railroad

Since this stamp comes indexed with the image,
I placed my cardstock on the base, then positioned the stamp on the paper.

Closed the acrylic cover...

now your stamp is ready for ink...

ink it up...

Close the cover and press evenly.
So easy.

Now, to make a card with this image.

Sketch Saturday Challenge #276

Happy Saturday!

There is a new sketch challenge at Sketch Saturday.  I made 3 cards today all using stamp of the month kits from Taylored Expressions - June, July and August.  They were piling up I admit it.

The sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp and the prize is a $25 gift certificate to one lucky winner of the challenge.

Here is Sketch #276 (designed by Jen):
For my first card, I used Taylored Expressions: S'More Fun, which was the August stamp of the month.  Love this set.  The papers are We R Memory Keepers "Happy Campers".  The camper top is paper-pieced and I added some twine in-between the papers to hide the seam.  The birthday wishes sentiment was from a different TE set "Posh Posies".
My 2nd card uses Taylored Expressions: Cute Hoot, which was the July stamp of the month.  The papers are Basic Grey "Kneehighs".
For my 3rd card, I used a mirror image of the sketch.  The set is Taylored Expressions: "You make me Happy", which was the June stamp of the month.
The umbrella and boot are paper pieced with Simple Stories "Vintage Bliss" patterned papers.  I colored parts of the boot and the handle with R24 and R43 Copic marker.  I added some shadow to the umbrella with N1 marker. The pinking edges circle was done with a scalloped punch and I double punched it.

All images are welcome at Sketch Saturday, so give our sketch a try and enter our challenge.  You can see more inspiration from the design team HERE.

Challenges:
Make it Monday - Anything Goes
Scrap-Creations - Polka Dots (camping card)
613 Avenue Create - Anything Goes
Inky Chicks - Stitching (showered with love card)
Loves Rubberstamps - Sentiment on the front
