Inky Chicks Challenge - Stitching (Real or Faux)

Good evening everyone!

I'm writing this on Easter Sunday and wow what a beautiful spring day it's been - sun shining, kids playing outside, birds chirping away. Just fabulous! Let's hope it's here to stay :)

Anyhow I'm here to share my last Inky Chicks Design Team card with you, as I've decided to step down from the Team. They are a lovely bunch of ladies and it's been an absolute pleasure working with them. Well talk about 'going out' in style - or maybe not!! Our theme this week is Stitching (Real or Faux) with a vintage feel.  Erm, as a rule I don't do vintage, I don't do real sewing (unless I'm repairing clothes) and I definitely don't do shabby chic - but I thought in for a 'penny in for pound' as they say. So I hope you like it because my blood, sweat and tears went into making it----lol, not really! But I do hope you like it anyway :)

Here's What I did
I used a 5" x 7" scalloped card base. I scuffed up the edges of some patterned paper (PP) with a distressing tool and added faux stitching along the edges with a Fineliner pen, and glued it onto my card base.

I then cut out a slight small piece of PP in a lighter shade and a fish tail banner from the peach PP. To add more texture I dragged out my sewing machine and physically stitched around the edges of both pieces, then distressed and tore the edges. I punched out a border strip from white card and taped it along the side of the lighter PP and glued both pieces onto the card base.

The swirls and all of the flowers were die cut and created by me, apart from the tiny cream ones. The large central flower was die cut from cream card and inked up to give it a peachy appearance, and a large pearl bead was glued into the centre. To finish off I added a lace ribbon and a few pearls around the flowers.

Here's everything I used:
Paper/Cardstock (CS): White, Cream, Green, Pink and Deep Pink CS, Lili Of The Valley (LOTV) 'Country Meadow' Paper Pad
Dies: Tim Holtz Sizzix 'Tattered Florals', Britannia 'Multi Rose', Cheery Lynn Designs 'Fanciful Flourish'
Other: Sewing Machine, Distressing Ink 'Tattered Rose', Black Fineliner, Pearls, Tonic Border Punch, Beads, Tiny Cream Flowers, Cream Lace, Wire, TH Distressing tool

Inky Chicks - Flowers

Good evening everyone!

On this cold and wintery Tuesday evening I'm here to share my Inky Chicks Design Team card and a little bit of sunshine with you. Our theme this week is Flowers

Our sponsor is Cute As A Button, and we got to choose one of Francesca's fabulous images to play with, so I chose this little cutie. She's called Lego Queen and I coloured her with Copic markers.

Here's What I did
I used a 5" x 5" white card base and matted and layered it with some plain card and patterned paper (PP).  I created the layout with the image and text in CraftArtist 2 and printed it directly onto white colouring/blending card stock. Using the PP as my guide I coloured my image with Copic markers so that everything would tie in together; this was also the case for the coloured card I used. To draw the eye in towards the image I used blue distressing inks around the edge.  The image was then matted and layered onto 2 die cut squares, and stuck to the card base using foam tape to raise it up slightly. To finish off I added a die cut photo corner along with a flower and some leaves.

Here's everything I used:
Digi Stamp: 'Lego Queen' by Cute As A Button
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Orange & Red CS, Craftwork Cards Super Smooth Digital CS, 'Bake A Cake' Paper Pad (Mag Freebie)
Dies: Tonic Layering 'Square' & 'Scallop Square' Dies, MFT Die-namics - 'Photo Corners', 'Gerber'  and 'Blueprint 14'
Copic Pens: Skin - E000, E00, E11, R20 / Hair - Y17, Y21, E31, E35 / Striped Jumper - R14, R17, Y17, Y21 / Shading - W1, W2 / Top - G02, G14, G21 /  Jean - B32, B93, BG95, W5 / Shoes - Y000, Y21, Y38, R14, R17 / Lego - E31, E33, E35, R20, W1, W3, Y21, Y17, Y38, R14, R17, R37,  G02, G14, G21 / Eyes - B32, B60  / Ground - W0, W1, W3, 00
Other: Distressing Ink 'Tumbled Glass & Salty Sea. 'Fineliner Pen

Inky Chicks Challenge - Mrs Lovett

Good evening everyone!

So on this dark Tuesday evening, I hope you're managing ok with all this awful UK weather at the mo - it's just wet, windy and cold. Why not keep snuggled up at home and craft away.  To warm you up I'm here to share my Inky Chicks Design Team card with you, I've used an image from our sponsor this week Alicia Bel. I was lucking enough to have a pick of images from her amazing library of characters. The image I decided on is Mrs Lovett from Sweeny Todd. The reason for my choice is that it reminds me so much of my daughter when she worked at the London Dungeons as an actress - and one of the characters she regularly played was Mrs Lovett.  I've included a fab photo of her in full costume at the bottom holding a pie. Lol x

So here she is in all her evilness with some delicious finger pies - Mrs Lovett not my daughter...lol.  So the theme this week is --- Anything Goes.

Here's What I did
I used an A5 black card base which I matted and layered complimentary grey patterned card stock. I die cut Mrs Lovett into an oval and coloured her with Copic markers, to add atmosphere I used black pan pastel around her. The finished image was then matted onto a fancy die cut oval and added to my card base over the top of the punched out border.  To finish I added a die cut sentiment, stars and a few sparkly red dots.

Here's everything I used:
Digi Stamp: Alicia Bel 'Mrs Lovett' - you can buy her from here
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Black CS, Hobbycraft 'Monochrome' Paper Pad, Craftwork Cards Digital Super Smooth CS
Copics: Skin - E0000, E000, E00, R20 / Dress - R000, R02, R20, R14, R27, R29, R38 / Hair - C0, C1, C2, C3 ,C5, C7, 100 / Boots - C0, C2, C5 / Pies & Plate - Y000, Y02, Y17, Y38
Punch:  Martha Steward Border Punch, Tonic Star Punch
Dies: Spellbinders Grand Decorative Ovals One, MFT Die-namics 'Blueprint 3'
Other: Black Pan Pastel, Docraft Gems, CraftArtist 2

So why not drop by the Inky Chicks Challenge blog, and check out what my fab Design Team girlies have made with their Alicia Bel characters as well. So come on, why not join in with the fun and enter your card/project into our 'Anything Goes' challenge this week.

Inky Chicks - Winter Wonderland

Good evening everyone!

So on this dark and wintery Tuesday evening I'm here to share my Inky Chicks DT card with you, and the theme this week is Winter Wonderland.  And judging by all the dark frosty days, it's quite apt.

Here's What I did
I used a 5½" x 5½" Christmas embossed card base which I coloured up using Sakura Glitter pens - both of which I've had for years. The 3½" square centre topper was designed by myself in CraftArtist 2 using a Christmas digi kit and printed off. To finish off I added some green glitter pen and crystal loose glitter to the finished topper.

Here's everything I used:
Digi Kit: Daisytrail Craftscapes 'Winter Village'
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Embossed Christmas Border card, white CS
Other: Serif Craftartist 2, Glitter, Sakura Glitter Pens

So why not drop by the Inky Chicks Challenge blog, and check out what my fab Design Team girlies have made to inspire you. So come on why not join in with the fun and enter your card/project into our 'Winter Wonderland' challenge this week..

Inky Chicks - Down On The Farm

Good evening everyone!

So on this dark Tuesday evening I'm here to share my Inky Chicks DT card with you, and the theme this week is Down On The Farm.  I struggled at first with the theme but then I remember I had this gorgeous stamp from Sugar Nellie called Goosey Gander. I decided to keep the colour scheme simple - blue, white and yellow and on a DL card too. The stamp from Sugar Nellie is available from Funkykits in both rubber and as a digital download.

Here's What I did
The card base is a scalloped edged DL card. I matted some gingham paper onto blue cardstock and rounded  off the corners, this was then added to the card base. The digital image was printed onto my Neenah cardstock and coloured with Copic pens. I inked up the edges of the finished image with some distressing ink, and then stamped a few cross stitched hearts in the background. I cut to size a piece of blue card and added a pretty edge using a Martha Stewart punch. My completed topper was then added to the card along with some complimentary ribbon. To finish off I added some flowers and a few leaves.

Here's everything I used:
Stamp: Goosey Gander by Sugar Nellie @ Funkykits, Inkydoodles 'Country Checks'
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Neenah, Gingham Paper (Old stock so not sure where from), Blue CS
Copics: Skin - E000, E00, E02 / Hair - E000, E15, E21, E25, E29, E31 / Pinafore, Tights & Scrunchie - B000, B00, B02, B02 / Blouse, Shoes, Goose Bill & Feet - Y000, Y00, Y02, Y35 /  Ground - W0, W1, W2, W5 /  Goose - C1, C2, C3
Other: Distressing Ink, Ribbon, Martha Stewart Edge Punch, Gem

On another note - you would have normally seen my Digi Queen card today for Polkadoodles, but I stepped down from their Design Team early last week due to other commitments both personal and crafty.

Furthermore, the Digi Queen DT is sadly no longer in operation as of a few days ago. Thankfully the two are not related. I want to take this opportunity to wish Nikky and the Polkadoodles DT continued success and look forward to seeing their makes.

Inky Chicks - Christimas

Good evening everyone!

Well here in the UK the night's are definitely pulling in quickly - and that means winter time and Christmas is fast approaching. I'm not sure if to smile or frown --- lol.

So on this dark Tuesday evening I'm here to share my Inky Chicks DT card with you, and the theme this week is Christmas --- I know I said the 'C' word.  So I decided to use this stamp from Hobbyart which I've had for a few years. I did actually use this stamp for my family Christmas cards a few years ago, and I just love it. It's such a pretty and versatile stamp, as it can be stamped and used as a flat image or can be stamped several times and decoupaged - which is exactly what I did on this occasion.

Here's What I did
I stamped the house 3 times and colour it with Promarkers and Flexmarkers, then fussy cut sections out which I layered up to give dimension. The house topper was matted onto some complimentary cardstock, and added to the kraft card base which was cut down to make a slim card. To finish off I added an embellished bow.and a touch of glitter to the snowy areas.

Here's everything I used:
Stamp: Hobbyart 'Christmas House'
Paper/Cardstock (CS): Kraft Card, Kanban, Papermania
Promarkers/Flexmarkers: Various Colours Used (oops, sorry I don't have a list)
Other: Glitter, Ribbon, Snowflake Embellishment

Inky Chicks - Fairies and/or Angels

Good evening everyone!

I know it's a strange time for me to post, but this is my first Design Team card for Inky Chicks. I was asked by the lovely Lisa if I would join their lovely team - and of course I said YES.

Inky Chick's challenges run every fortnight (starting on a Tuesday evening at 7pm) and always have a fab prize up for grabs. I'll be posting a card/project once a month for them --- so watch this space!

So here's my make for this month -- the theme is Fairies and/or Angels.

Here's What I did
I made my own circular card base using my grand scallop circle dies. I also die cut a green circle mat, and a larger scalloped circle using some LOTV patterned paper. I then printed out this gorgeous little fairy called Maya onto Neenah CS, which I die cut it into a circle. I coloured the image flat with my Copic Pens using the colours in the paper so everything co-ordinated together. To finish off I punched out some butterflies and added a touch of glitter to her wings.

Here's everything I used:
Digi Stamp:  Maya by Wee Stamps
Paper/Cardstock (CS): LOTV 'Bonnents & Bowties', Papermania CS, Neenah CS
Copics (C) / Flexmarkers (F): Skin - Ivory , Blush Dusky Pink (FM), Cheeks - R30 (C), wings - BG000, YG11, YG03 (C) / Flower, Jacket & Dress - BG000, BG01, BG05, B000, B05 (C) / Leaves & Stem - YG11, YG03, YG09, G07 (C) / Grass - YG01, YG011, G07 (C)
Dies: Spellbinders Grand Scallop Circles, Tonic Layering Circles and Scallop Circles
Other: Glitter, Butterfly Punch, Distressing Ink
