My second project is a pretty card to go with my treat box! This was a quick and easy card to create! I love creating shaped cards with Spellbinders die templates and they make such an impression!

To make the shaped card, I cut pink cardstock 4 x 8 inches and folded in half to make my card base of 4 x 4 inches. Place the fold of the paper just inside one of the edges of the Gold Ivy #4 die template, then cut/emboss to get your shaped card. Cut/emboss 4 Gold Corners One Scalloped Border and adhere to 4 edges of shaped card. Layer the card with Gold Ivy #3 in light pink cardstock, and Gold Ivy #2 in white cardstock with foam dots. Cut/emboss/stencil the #2 piece with a sponge dauber and Angel Pink ink pad. Add a sentiment to the white piece with black ink, and finish it off with a pretty silk bow, pearls and a rhinestone heart.

Spellbinders Explore Beyond: Sneak Peek and Giveaway!

Welcome to the first day of the Spellbinders Paper Arts™ Explore Beyond: Sneak Peek and Giveaway! I am so excited to showcase some of the newest die templates being released at the Winter 2013 Craft and Hobby Association trade show! You will have the chance to win the new die templates I have used by entering the contest at the bottom of this post. Join me and Amazing Paper Grace Becca Feeken as we kick start this fabulous Sneak Peek Event!

I’ve created two projects for you so that you can see the amazing versatility of the Spellbinders dies. Whether you are just learning to papercraft or you are an advanced artist, Spellbinders die templates will stretch your imagination! Always explore beyond your dreams and your artwork will be amazing!

I am showcasing Spellbinders newest die templates: Enchanted Labels Twenty-Eight, and 5x7 Matting Basics A & B!

My first project was fashioned after an old bible I purchased in an antique store years ago. I love the intricate layers and gold embossing on it, so I tried to re-create that look with the die templates I am using:

To make the book you will also need:
  • Pasta machine or hand roller
  • Sculpey Ultra Light Oven Bake Clay – White
  • Tablespoon of Flour or Talc
  • Wax Paper
  • Paint Brush
  • Black Acrylic Paint
  • Amaco Rub ‘n Buff Gold Leaf Wax Metallic Paste
  • Recollections Gold Rhinestones
  • 7 ¼ x 10 ¼ Journal

Instructions:

  • With pasta machine or hand roller, roll clay to 1/8 inch thickness to accommodate all 3 sizes of the Enchanted Labels Twenty-Eight die templates. Place clay on wax paper.
  • With pasta machine or hand roller, roll clay to 1/8 inch thickness to accommodate 5x7 Matting Basics A #5 (with #1 being the smallest die template in the set). Place clay on wax paper. You’ll make 2 of these.
  • Dust the die templates with flour or talc, then place face down onto clay. Push each die template into clay until you get a deep impression. Remove wax paper.
  • Arrange templates with clay on a baking sheet and bake clay according to manufacturer’s instructions and allow to cool. Dies will be hot, so use caution when removing from the oven.
  • Once cooled, carefully removed clay from die templates. This clay when baked is flexible, and will not break while you remove it from the templates. Wash your templates once all the clay pieces have been removed.
  • Adhere clay pieces on top of journal cover with glue, then cover entire journal and clay pieces with black acrylic paint.
    • Squeeze a small dollop of Gold paste onto scrap paper and touch your forefinger to it. Wipe off extra onto the scrap paper. You only want a small amount on your finger as the paste goes a long way.
    • Rub gold paste onto clay pieces and book edges until you are happy with the results.

    •  Add rhinestones and silk ribbon to book and if desired, rub gold paste on page edges. Allow to dry thoroughly.

Here is another project I created with Enchanted Labels Twenty-Eight and 5x7 Matting Basics A & B:

As you can see, I first embossed 5x7 Matting Basics B #7 on Bazzill Basics Paper® Tan cardstock. Next, I cut/embossed and stenciled Enchanted Labels Twenty-Eight #3 using Aqua cardstock and adhered it to my card. Cut and emboss Enchanted Labels Twenty-Eight #2 and add pop dots to the back, then add to card. Cut/emboss 5x7 Matting Basics A #1, #2, and #4 with 5x7 Matting Basics B #4 from patterned paper. Layer pieces to card, as shown in the photo above.

My sentiment is from JustRite® Papercraft’s Large Fancy Sentiments clear stamp set. All of my layered pieces were cut from Basic Grey’s Lucille Collection patterned paper. My layers are popped up using SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES by 3L™ White Foam Dots and I finished the card with KaiserCraft pearls, and a pretty May Arts silk ribbon bow.

    Defining Beautiful...

Here is a photo of a scrapbook page I was working on before the fire. It was on a table in my craft room, and I had set it aside to work on another project. I took the picture to remind me of where things went. It was lost in the fire. I hope I can recreate it. I used Spellbinders Paper Arts™ Jewel Flowers & Flourishes  as the main dies in this page. The flower was made using the Vintage Lace Motifs dies. The gorgeous girl is my daughter, Lee.
