Just For Fun May Challenge - "Let's Hear It For The Girls"

Where did April go?  I can’t believe it is already May 1st and time for a new challenge at Just For Fun RubberStamps’ blog.  The May theme is

“Let’s Hear It For The Girls!”

So many possibilities with this theme.

This cute little dress called Tea Party Dress is all about a little girl’s tea party and inspired this card.  I stamped it in blue and fussy cut.  Small amounts of color were added with Copic Markers.  To get the yellow script on the bottom of the dress, I actually placed a paper mask over the small words when I inked it up and then removed this and used a yellow Tombow marker to add yellow to the small script.  Then I ran it through the swiss dot embossing folder to add texture.

The cup, which is called Small Coffee Cup, was stamped in blue on white cardstock and parts were colored.  I stamped it a second time on decorative cardstock and paper pieced the remaining sections.

The background was created using layers of yellow and blue cardstock and coordinating decorative cardstock from K & Co.  Two Martha Stewart border punches were used at the bottom.  The doily is die cut using Cheery Lynn’s French Pastry Doily die.

Get more inspiration by visiting the other JFF designers’ blogs.  Get all the challenge details at the JFF blog.  NOTE:  There is a new change to the rules.  You no longer have to use a JFF stamp to be considered for the gift certificate, but if you DO use a JFF stamp, you will receive a 2nd entry in the drawing, doubling your chance to win.

Go and create!

No Worm?

Sharing a fun little card today, using the stamp set, Wilson.  I am not a morning person and only get up early when I have to, so I kind of relate to this little guy.

I stamped, colored, and fussy cut him and added a few feathers.  He is popped up on a background that was embossed with an embossing folder and sponged with green ink.  The red decorative border was created by adding layers of the new Chunky Red Embossing Powder to a dark red piece of cardstock die cut with Spellbinders’ CrissCross Die (see Chunky and “MixedMedia” Embossing Powders in Tips and Techniques).

The sentiment was stamped into heated layers of Mediterranean Star Embossing Powder that covered a Spellbinders’ Label 10 die cut (see Embedded Embossing in Tips andTechniques).

Everything was added to the layered card front and leaves, die cut with Sue Wilson Designs’ Faux Quilled Leaves, were tucked around the image and sentiment.

Have a wonderful week.

I entered these cards in the following challenges:
Scrapy Land Challenge #27 – Anything Goes (PLUS using any brand of die Scrapy Land sells)
As You Like It Challenge - Monochrome or Colour (& why)! (Definitely color – I like lots of colored layers and color on my image so they coordinate.  It doesn’t have to be bright but I think color really adds to the card.)

Scrapy Land Blog Challenge #21 - Anything Goes

I am so excited to be a guest designer for the next three months for Scrappy Land.  This company sells an amazing selection of dies and has a bi-weekly challenge on their blog.  The new challenge is Anything Goes PLUS using any brand of die Scrapy Land sells.

I combined three different dies on this card.  The background is Die-Versions Whispers Flower Garden Background, cut from white cardstock and layered on a piece of sticker paper.  Black Suede Velvet glitter is added to the remaining exposed adhesive and this is layered on red on a white card base.  I added a little Dimensional Glue around the outer edges of the die cut layer and added more Black Suede Velvet glitter to give the look of another layer.

I die cut another piece of sticker paper with Spellbinders’ Contemporary Diamonds die.  I covered the main piece with Gypsy Red Velvet Glitter and layered it on the card front.  I added Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter to each of the small pieces and placed them back in place on the die cut.  I added a square covered with the Black Suede Velvet Glitter in the center.

The butterfly is cut using a Cheery Lynn Designs’ Small Exotic Butterfly #1 die.  This is layered on the solid coordinating angel wings, cut from sticker paper.  Gypsy Red Velvet Glitter is added to the remaining exposed adhesive and the butterfly is popped up in the center.

Head over to the Scrapy Land blog to see what the other designers have to share and link your creation – all you have to do is use any brand of die Scrapy Land sells for a chance to win a $15 gift certificate to Scrapy Land store.
