Silhouettes and Brushos

Today I am here sharing a card created with Brushos and the Floral Silhouette stamp from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps.  Solid stamps are great for dark silhouettes but also provide a great surface to add bright, colorful Brushos.

You can add Brushos by adding directly to stamp and then spritzing or you can paint them on.  I chose to make a rich paint in a pallet for each color and add to the stamp surface with a paint brush.  This was then stamped onto white cardstock.

The “bouquet of wishes” sentiment is from JFF's Sentiments 1 Unmounted Sheet.  This was stamped below the image with Distress Oxide Ink.

Have a great weekend and try to stay cool!

Just For Fun June Challenge

June snuck up on us and it is time for a new challenge at the Just For Fun Blog.

Fellow designer, April Williams, loves different techniques and chose the theme of “Use A Stencil”

My card features a technique that April taught me.  It involves using a stencil and adding Color Bursts or Brushos.  You layer the stencil over your cardstock, sprinkle small amounts of the watercolor powders, then spritz with water.  Very carefully remove the stencil and let dry.  This makes a fantastic background.

The Stamptangle Dolphin from Just For Fun was colored with Tombow Markers and cut out.  I left a little white border to help it stand out more on the colorful background.  The JFF sentiment, Happy to Sea You, was inked with one of the Tombow colors, cut out with a circle die, and a second color run around the edge.

Head on over to the Just For Fun Blog for all the challenge details and more inspirational projects.  I can’t wait to see what you do with a stencil.

Spread Your Wings and Fly...

It has been a cold and dreary weekend and, even though it is still January, I am starting to wish for spring.  With spring comes flowers and butterflies.  Using Just for Fun's Collection image, I made this simple card from a colorful background.

I have had some fun playing with my Color Bursts and Brushos lately.  My friend and fellow JFF designer, April Williams, shared some fun techniques with me a few weeks ago and I created some lovely backgrounds just from picking up all the extra color left on my craft mat.  This is what I used for this card.

The JFF Collection stamp was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on top of another piece of this colorful background.  I trimmed around it, leaving just a little of the color around the edges.  This was layered on white and the Spread Your Wings and Fly... sentiment, also from JFF, was stamped with Salty Ocean Distress Ink at the bottom of this layer.

I hope your week is great and come back soon for more inspiration.

Just For Fun July Challenge - Christmas In July

July has arrived and it is time for a new challenge at Just For Fun Rubber Stamps Blog.  What is better than Christmas in July with Sparkle.  It was so hot by me that it was refreshing to create a Christmas card.

For this card the Just for Fun Bells and Holly image was colored with Copic Markers and layered on green and white.  A little sparkle was added using a Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen.  I also added a little ink splatter to coordinate more of the background layer coloring.  The simple sentiment, from the Sentiments 1 Unmounted Sheet, was layered along the bottom.

The background design was created by stamping and heat embossing the Holly Background in white on watercolor paper.  Then Brusho Crystal Colors were added.  After coloring the little berries, a little more sparkle was added to each leaf with the Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen. You can see a little of this on the right side of the picture.

Head on over to the Just For Fun Rubber Stamps Blog to get all the details of the challenge and get more inspiration from my fellow designers.

I look forward to seeing what you create!
