A mixed media piece for you today.
I began by painting one of Tim Holtz Etcetera Tags with a coat of Gesso and then I applied an uneven coat of Texture Paint followed by a coat of Antique Linen Distress Paint and then dried this layer with a heat tool. I then applied a layer of Vintage Photo Distress Paint, dried lightly and then rubbed away some of the paint with a damp baby wipe. I love the texture from the uneven coat of Texture Paste.
I then added some vintage book pages which I randomly covered with Seth Apter's Baked Vintage Beeswax, to give the impression of an aged piece of paper.
I then added a rusty leaf to the centre of my piece adding two faces to the centre combined with cotton threads for added texture. One face has been created using Seth Apter's Patina Oxide Baked Texture and one face is a clay piece which I have aged with paint.
To add further layers in the background I added some stencilled texture along with some of Tim Holtz Tissue Tape. I printed the "Two Heads Are Better Than One" on my typewriter and again aged with Seth Apter's Vintage Beeswax.
I also included some of Tim Holtz Idea-ology Numeric pieces for added dimension.
I also added coils of rusty tin wire along with a circle of rusty wire to add a further element of interest.
I included a Quote Chip, added to the bottom of my tag and added a few delicate splatters of black paint.
I also added some scratchy lines using an old credit card and black paint. I also applied Gathered Twigs Distress Crayon around the edges of my tag.
I am really pleased with how this one turned out.

TIME FLIES
Today I have a mixed media piece for you using lots of viintage pieces combined with everyday craft items.
I began by coating one of Tim Holtz Etcetera tags with a coat of Texture Paste, applying in an uneven coat to give texture to the background. I then applied a coat of Gesso and once dry I then added a coat of Antique Linen Distress Paint and then dried this layer with a heat tool. I then added a light coat of Vintage Photo Distress Paint, dried lightly and then rubbed away some of the colour. To add a touch more colour I added highlights of Tumbled Glass Distress Paint, wiping away any excess paint as I moved around the tag. I then dried the tag thoroughly with a heat tool.
I added a vintage clock behind my relic piece along with a few smaller vintage pocket watch faces. I love these!
To add further texture to the background I applied Texture Paste over the Tim Holtz Numeric Layering stencil. I highlighted the numbers further with Distress Crayon, smudging with my finger.
I added a Finnabair rusty pocket watch and added vintage watch parts to the inside. I melted some clear embossing powder and then poured the hot melted powder over the watch parts to secure.
The body of the Relic piece has been covered with vintage French book pages and aged with Distress Crayon.
I stapled together some vintage letters to add TIME FLIES to the top of my tag. I love how you can clearly see all the texture and aged feel to this piece in the background.
I added a Tim Holtz Game Spinner to her body and also include some wings from a Finnabair Butterfly embellishment. I also added further vintage watch parts to her wings.
I had total freedom with this piece and it was great fun just to let go and enjoy the process and seeing where it took me.
I love all the delicate layers of colour and the texture gives this piece a real tactile feel.
More vintage pocket watch faces and watch parts added here along with some delicate pieces of confetti.
I really enjoyed creating this piece.

Follow Your Heart
Today I have decorated one of Tim Holtz Etcetera tags.
I began by applying a coat of Gesso to the tag and then I added a random layer of Texture Paste to the background, applying the Paste with a palette knife. Once the Paste was completely dry, I then applied a layer of Antique Linen Distress Paint and then dried this layer with a heat tool. I then applied a random layer of Vintage Photo Distress Paint, dried lightly and I then rubbed back some of the paint with a damp baby wipe.
I applied a random layer of Texture Paste through the Linen Layering Stencil to add a further layer of texture to the background. I also included some Tissue Tape, the black of the Tape lifts the design.
I die cut a piece of mountboard using Tim Holtz Heartfelt Die and actually used the cut out pieces and the die cut hearts. The cut out (aperture) piece has had the same treatment as the background of the tag and I also added some gold highlights to the edges of this piece. I applied Gathered Twigs Distress Crayone around the edges of the aperture hearts and also included a couple of Remnant Rubs for added interest.
I added a Quote Chip, smudging some Distress Crayon around the edges to compliment the colours in my design. I also added some vintage French Book Pages to the background.
The die cut hearts were painted with Candied Apple Distress Paint and touches of Gold Mega Flakes were added to the edges.
I added three layers of die cut pieces to the largest of the hearts to give further dimension to my design. I also included scratchy lines randomly around my design, applied with an old credit card.
Screw Heads have also been included to add further dimension and interest to the overall design along with a few more Remnant Rubs, added randomly to the background of my tag.
I added some Bouquet Flowers to the die cut hearts, adding touches of colour to each of the petals. I also wrapped two of the hearts with rusty tin wire for added texture.
I added twine to the top of my tag and added further scratchy lines around the outside edges.
Thanks so much for stopping by.

A Vintage Journey Tag Friday
Welcome to my Tag Friday post with A Vintage Journey.
I opted to decorate one of Tim Holtz medium Etcetera tags. This was fun to create as there was no pressure just a few hours to simply create for the fun of it.
I coated the tag with a layer of Gesso to give me a good base and then painted the tag with Broken China Distress Paint adding touches of Gesso to lighten.
I applied Crackle Paste over the Screwed Layering Stencil which I thought was perfect for a masculine piece. I then used Gathered Twigs Distress Crayon to add a further layer of colour, blending with my finger and a damp baby wipe.
I added corrugated card, which I always think adds wonderful texture to a piece and I added a few touches of Broken China Distress Paint with my finger along with a light blend of Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. I also added a touch of background stamping using the background stamp from the On The Farm stamp set and Potting Soil Archival Ink.
I applied Gathered Twigs Distress Crayon around the edges of the tag which gives definition to the design and draws the eye in to the focal imagery. I also included Nailheads for added texture and dimension along with a few Remnant Rubs for added layered interest.
I had a vintage clock face in my stash and incorporated this into my design which was perfect for my Paper Doll image to sit. I added Clippings Stickers behind for further interest and also included a Quote Chip. A few black paint splatters add a further layer to my design.
I also incorporated a couple of Ruler Pieces and a hanger from Tim's Idea-ology range. I also added some design tape and some scratchy lines to the edge of my tag using an old credit card and black paint.
Thanks so much for stopping by.

A Vintage Journey Challenge - All Squared Up
Hello and welcome to a new challenge for A Vintage Journey. This month I am your host and my challenge is 'All Squared Up'.
Our sponsor this month is the fabulous Tando Creative who are offering an MDF Package for one randomly drawn winner.
I opted to decorate one of Tim Holtz Etcetera Tags.
I love that you can throw anything at these tags, any mediums and they work perfectly.
I began by applying Grunge Paste over the Screwed Layring Stencil and the Tiles Layering Stencil to add texture to the background and I then applied a coat of Gesso.
I then began layering my colours first applying a coat of Old Paper Distress Paint and whilst the paint was still wet I then applied touches of Brushed Corduroy Distress Paint over the top blending the colour with my brush.
Once I was happy with my layers of colour in the background I then began to apply a touch of colour with Broken China Distress Crayon, scribbling the crayon onto the surface and then blending with a damp baby wipe.
For my focal image I used an image from Tim's Etcetera Paper Stash and I die cut the image using Seth Apter's Robo Square Die adding a couple of layers of the die to make it more sturdy. I then die cut two of the other squares from the Robo Die, coloured them with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and then added them over the top.
I added some burlap to the back of my focal image along with some cheesecloth, to give added texture and further layers to the design. I hung one of Finnabair's rusty clock pieces from a Hitch Fastener and added another vintage image to the centre.
I love all the layers in this piece, making it so tactile. I also included a few pieces of Tim's Idea-ology for added texture and dimension.
My trademark rusty wire had to appear somewhere and I used a circle of wire to showcase the focal image further and added 'be authentic' Quote Chip.
I tucked a tag behind my layers die cut using Tim Holtz Tiny Tabs and Tags Die. A few delicate paint splatters and scratchy lines complete my design.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I look forward to seeing all your entries into the challenge this month.

Dreamer of Dreams
I decorated one of Tim Holtz Etcetera tags today just for fun.
The background is coloured with Distress Oxides Broken China and Cracked Pistachio.
I added two adorable Paper Dolls from Tim's range, colouring their dresses with Cracked Pistachio Distress Crayon and they stand on an old pair of scissors, painted with Distress Paints.
I added a circle of silver wire to act as a spotlight and added some of Tim Holtz Chatter Design Tape. I have also added a Clippings Sticker to the scissors.
A Quote Chip and Index Clips add further dimension and texture to the design.
I have added a touch of stencilling using Tim's Nordic Stencil, which I love and I have also added delicate splatters of white paint. I also dry brushed white paint across the raised areas of the stencilling.
I also added a few flowers from Tim's Bouquet.
