CFC94/DD44- HB2U

Good Morning!  I made today's card on Saturday and what I thought would be an 'easy' card.......was not!

I used My Mind's Eye black/yellow paper to fit the Dynamic Duo's Challenge#44.  The idea in my head was easy - but cutting the papers to fit was not.......I'm going to have to check out some tutorials on this technique.

Anyways...the second challenge is the CAS-ual Friday's #94 - to use chipboard.  So I used some Sizzix die cuts on cereal boxes.  I do like the end result of the card.......but for a CAS card......it took too long! LOL

Life is nothing without friendship!

Hello again!!  Thanks for coming to visit today!   Here's a card I made on Thursday and will enter in two challenges:  CAS(E) This Sketch! #16 and The Play Date Cafe #170:

I grabbed my MME papers which were perfect for the color challenge.  I laid out my papers but wasn't sure what I was going to use for my main image.  I looked through my rarely used Sizzlets and found the vase.  So I decided to color up a There She Goes buttercup to put in it.  I ran the vase through a Cuttlebug embossing folder for dimension.

Here are the challenges:

OK! Have a great day!!!!!!!!

RS50 - Happy Birthday

Wow - I've been making A LOT of birthday cards lately! I guess you can never have too many right?  This one I made following the Retro Sketches #50 layout:

Super easy layout and very minimal stamping!  I used MME paper and die cut a PTI bookmark, a Memory Box flower and a Sizzix label.  Then stamped a PTI sentiment and random bursts.  I added some washi tape too!

Here's the layout:
I'm also going to enter this in the Catered Crop "polka dot recipe swap quickfire"

SDC85 - Home is where......

there's dog hair!  Soooooo true in my house!

I put together another journal page on Wednesday.  When I saw the Stampotique Designer's Challenge #85 was "Happy" - I knew I'd have to do a page about my dogs!

I stamped some There She Goes images and colored them with my Prisma pencils before gluing them down.

The sentiment is from Impression Obsession

Did any of you buy those impression stencils WAAAAAAY back from Sizzix?  Well, I did and I have a stack of them!  This medium gives me a way to finally use them!
See the paisley?  I laid the stencil down and pressed my modeling paste into it and yummy! Great dimension!

I'm still getting comfortable creating layers - but this was a fun page to do!  Thanks for looking!!

RS45 - Wishing you Sunshine

Yes - two posts in one day!!!  This card is for the Retro Sketches challenge #45:

I started by stamping a Stamper's Anonymous sun ray stamp twice on the base. Then used a PTI sentiment on my DCWV paper and finished it off by layering two Sizzix clouds.

Have a great day!!!!!!!

CFC84 - Thanks!

This week's Casual Friday Challenge #84 is to make a Thank You card.  I dusted off one of my Sizzlits dies and popped it off of some MME paper.

I felt it needed an 'exclamation' mark - so I cut one from the same paper!  I wanted to add gems, but resisted in order to keep it 'simple'.

Come play along!

Oh - and I wanted to share last night's dinner that Elizabeth sent me the recipe for!  It got RAVE reviews!!!
 With Chorizo sausage:

With 'faux' meat:

And one happy husband!
The only thing I changed if you make this is I only did single layer tortilla's.  The double layer is just TOO thick!

Have a great day!

FTL#221 - Doggy Sympathy

Sadly, I made another doggy sympathy card (hopefully it's gotten to it's recipient by now) last week for a blogging friend who lost her senior doggy too.  I used the Clean and Simple Sketch#221 for my layout.

The minute I saw the sketch - I knew I wanted to use an 'xxoo' theme and the layout was perfect.
So, I die cut my "x" and "o" from my Sizzix dies and laid them out on the card front.  I hand cut my sentiment banner using a MFT cocker spaniel stamp colored with my pencils and a Skipping Stones sentiment embossed in white.  I felt the card was still too stark - so I drew border lines around the card with my Sharpie.

Here's the sketch I followed:

TSOT#96 - Sky's the Limit

Before I get to my pre-scheduled card - I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the tragedy just 40 minutes north of me in Sandy Hook, CT.  Just unspeakable and my prayers and thoughts are with all of those parents who have lost their children in what is supposed to be a safe place and for those adults who lost their lives as well.  I know Connecticut and the entire US will pull together in thoughts and prayers for these families, first responders and anyone else affected by this.

So......I'm really LOVING coloring on Kraft with the pencil over pencil technique.  Here's another Stamping Bella image I colored on Thursday.  It's just so vibrant!

I used My Mind's Eye paper and followed the Try Stamping on Tuesday Sketch # 96.  I cut the card base from a Nestie die and then used my Sizzix stars and layered three of them.  I finished it off with an Amuse sentiment and the stars are glistening with glitter!

Hope you have a wonderful day!!!!!!!

Wine Tags

My sweet hubby 'hired' me to make him wine bottle tags to give to some of the executives at the new office space he just finished.  They'll be moving in shortly so we went with the "New Nest" theme.
These were a lot of fun to make. I tried a new technique too!  Can you see the embossed clouds?  Well, I cut nine Sizzix cloud dies out and glued three together.  I placed them down on my cutting mat where I wanted them on the tag and then ran them through my big shot and used the die cuts as embossing folders.  I was VERY pleased with the results and now I'll definitely look at my dies a little differently going forward.

I also used my new Impression Obsession branch die and gave the leaves a fall theme.  The bird is from Darcies with the top wing popped up.  You can't see it, but my hubby's business card is hanging from the string where the bottleneck will go.

I made 9 in total, but here are 5 of them.

I'm having a giveaway!  Leave a comment on THIS POST to enter.

Mojo261/JUGS156 - Happy Birthday

It's mid-week! Hope your week is going well so far!  We had a rainy day on Tuesday - so I was able craft up some cards!  I needed a birthday card for a surprise party we attended last night - so I decided to play along with the Mojo Monday Sketch#261 and the JUGS#156 Challenge to use numbers on your card.

I grabbed my Mind's Eye Paper for the card and cut out all my layers.  Then I used one of my Sizzlets for the "55".  I sent it through my Xyron tape runner the opposite direction so the adhesive was on the front of the numbers. Then I poured glitter on top and burnished it in. (I did the same for the cupcake top).

I pierced around the circle and then bent a PTI sentiment to follow the curve.
I popped the Verve cupcake up on dimensionals.

Here's the sketch if you want to play along!

Hope you have a great day!

iPod card!

Happy Monday to you! Hope you had a really great weekend!  I got a lot of stuff done on Saturday and even made Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Chip cookies!  (VERY EASY to make and if you do make them - I added pecans and they were even better!!!)

On to the card! Another one I'm happy with (YAH!).  Our friend/neighbor Peg celebrated her 50th birthday on Saturday night.  A few friends went in on a gift together and ordered her an iPod Nano.  The new ones are coming out in October - so we didn't have the actual iPod to give her - so my hubby gave me a great idea to make an iPod card!

Here's what I came up with!

Obviously I attempted to recreate an iPod.  I layered papers to simulate the screen.  Then I stamped and cut out a Hero Arts apple.  I used my circle punch to punch out the side of the apple and masked off part of the apple with a post it and sponged on black soot Distress Ink.

I used a PTI sentiment and part of an arrow stamp for the reverse/play/forward keys at the bottom.
For the ear buds, I taped some thick twin to the front of the card and then cut four 7/8" circles. I dotted them with a marker to make the 'speakers' then cut a part of them off and glued them together.

For the inside - I printed off what the really one will look like and made that into a tag.  I stamped some music notes and used my Lawn Fawn letters for "It's on the way!"

Close up:

And close up of other side:

This was another fun creation and I know Peg will appreciate the time and effort!

Multiple Sympathy Cards........

OK - if you don't want to be TOTALLY depressed today - you should skip my posting.  I have MULTIPLE pet sympathy cards to post. It was a tough week for my friends and their pets - so I decided to get them all posted in one post instead of depressing everyone for an entire week!

I ended up using a bunch of challenge sketches for some of these cards - so here we go:

My neighbor's had to put their boxer Dizzy down.  I made a CAS card for them using a MFT stamp and Hero Arts sentiment.  I tried coloring it to look like Dizzy too.

My other neighbor asked for me to make her a sympathy card for them too. I used the CPS#276 layout, Inkadinkado heart embossed in gold and a Skipping Stones sentiment:

That same neighbor needed yet another pet sympathy card for a co-worker. I used MojoMonday 252 layout and finally used some of my UTEE Powder I've had on my desk for about 8 months. I used it on the hearts.

Then, friend's had to put their 16 year old cat down.......jeesh- it was getting quite depressing in my craft room!  I used a MFP cat stamp colored in with my prisma pencils, HA sentiment and The Pink Elephant Sketch#159

Lastly, one of the employees at CT Humane had to put her dog down - so here's yet another card. I rec'd this digi stamp from a blog friend and thought it was perfect. Colored with my prisma pencils and used Stickles on the wings and halo.  Popped up a bunch of Sizzix clouds and embossed a HA sentiment. (PS: The Stickles weren't dry at the time of picture taking - so it looks a bit cloudy {no pun intended{)

Here are the sketches:

OK - so let's hope that's it for AWHILE!!!!  I promise - a happy card tomorrow!!!!!!!!
