Stretch Your Stamps: Day 6

(If you want to see SYS's Day 5 just scroll down one post)

Saturday brought us over at the online SYS class a bonus day 6 lesson. This one was all about stamps with dies. Lots of great ideas just like every other day has been so far. Right now the only dies with matching stamps I have is from PTI and I thought I would try out a set I have but haven't used yet: Fruit Fussion-Apple and matching die. I had lots of fun with this one. I am loving how I am learning how to create two completely different looks using the same set (and in this case die too).

Left card: When many think of apples two professions come to mind - teachers and doctors. I don't have any sentiments good for doctors (and I don't typically give my doctors cards either) so I went with teachers. I figured I could give this one to A's teacher he gets next year. Two sheets of c/s were used on this card and that is all. I measured and grided the red c/s so that I could then go back and die cut each apple making sure I would have enough space at the bottome right corner for a sentiment. After I cut all of those apples out I placed it over the white c/s base and lightly traced each one. Once removed I masked off the border I needed and then stamped the image in each space. After the ink was dry I earased all of the pencil marks on boths pieces and embossed the word in white onto the red c/s. To give the card demention I popped up with red c/s. I then stamped the rest of my sentiment inside the card and even used one of the die cut apples for the inside.

Right card: For my second card I decided to go playful and create a love card. The sketch is from Retro Sketches. I cut my pattern papers and used removeable tape to place them where I wanted on the card. I die cut out two sizes of circles and inside the largest one I placed the apple die to cut it out it. I place the large circle die where I wanted it and die cutted it from the pattern paper and c/s. This gave me a little window to allow the image stamped on the inside to be seen on the outside. I used the red apple that came from the large circle and stamped on it in red and glued it to the smaller circle to give it an embossed looked. Then I die cutted the apple out of a white c/s scrap and stamp a whole apple on and popped it up with some thick tape foam. The inside image is with the core to really play up the rest of the sentiment. The sentiment is really one long sentence but I liked the idea of splitting it in half.
