Time for a Card Drive

Vera from Ling's Design Studio is hosting her Caring Hearts Card Drive and I knew I had to join in. Even with work being crazy busy and then coming home and being wife/mom I just have to create and this would be a perfect thing to create for. She collects holidays cards (all directions on on her blog) and then sends them to various nursing homes around the country. Since I have most if not all of my cards made for family and friends this would be easy to do.

For my cards today I was inspired by Danielle's card here. First I just had to recreate her card. It was so easy to do with the Mistletoe & Holly stamp set from PTI.

After playing with that set, I decided to try to get the same look with Snowflake Medley stamp set (also by PTI). To get my layers I stampe a large snowflake first in Kraft ink, then a medium size one in Vintage Cream, and the smallest one in Fresh Snow. I then heat embossed the sentiment (from WMS's Compliements of the Season) in white. To achieve the white paint frame I simply used my Snow Cap Dabber. This came together so quickly that I went ahead a made three of them :)

Card for Logan

Another card for another great cause. Giovana is hosting a great card drive for two wonderful kids with Spina Bifida. This card for for a sweet little boy named Logan. I used one of my new favorite stamp sets called Half Pint Heros from Waltzingmouse Stamps. Since this is for a little boy, I kept the card rather simple. After sponging the colors on the background, I flicked water drops on it to give it a little distress. The clouds (a die from PTI) were punched out of white cardstock and covered with white flock. I also covered the car with Glossy Accents after coloring it with copics.

Card for Bekah

Another card for another great cause. Giovana is hosting a great card drive for two wonderful kids with Spina Bifida. This card for for a sweet little girl named Bekah. I used an Autumn feel Anya from The Greeting Farm. The swirls were clear embossed and then I sponged some Summer Sun around the edges. I also sponged some Black Soot distress ink around the edges of the base as well as the orange. To finish it off I used some black thread for a knot. The sentiment is from Verve's Dare to Be set.

I've been busy

**Be sure you read the post below to learn about the Caring Hearts Card Drive and the hop**

CRAFTING! It's been fun and DH has been sweet about letting me. The cards I've got for you tonight are for the SCS Card Drive Challenge. I am now only 5 challenges behind and hope to catch up some more tomorrow. So much to do and so little time, but then again, isn't that always the problem. Oh if only I could get paid doing this :)

First up is a simple birthday card. The cupcake is an old SU! set called Treat Yourself. I also used a text background from PTI on the green as well as the sentiment.

Challenges used:
SCS HYCC12: birthday card w/paper piecing
Unscripted Sketches: sketch

-------------------------------------------------------------

My second card is an any time card. It's a little scene I've been wanting to create for a while now. Not really what I had in mind, but I like it non the less. The emboss on the yellow is a texture plate from the Tim Holtz line. The balloons and cloud is from PTI's Up UP and Away. I also used the matching balloon and cloud die. For the ground I added some felt and the clouds on the blue stip where punched out and layered on white felt. To achieve the blue I wanted I used some glimmer mist as I don't own an airbrushing system.

Challenges used:
SCS HYCC16: use felt in project
Sweet Sunday Sketches

-----------------------------------------------------------

My last card is my try at meshing Vintage with Clean and Simple (CAS). The music background is from WMS Musical Background and the foliage is from Flutterby Friend. I layered some vellum over the top of the music background to soften it and distress the yellow. I like to think I got close at least, lol.

Challenges used:
SCS HYCC18: Vintage
Charisma Cards: Vintage
Creative Inspiration: Fall
Easy Craft Projects: Autumn
Waltzingmouse Sketch: sketch
Embellish: Vinage with color challenge of rust, green, yellow

WMS Blog Hop

Welcome to another month of the WMS blog hop. The theme this month is Autumn/Harvest and I made two cards for ya'll. I just got an order from WMS and of course had to play with them for this hop. I used Musical Backgrounds, Season of Love Tags, and Very Vintage Labels No. 1. Can't wait to order some more.

I created the first card for the SCS Hope You Can Cling To challenge. I kept it rather simple (maybe too simple) so that the frame and saying could be the focus. I really love the colors for an elegant Thanksgiving card. I used the music as the background but kept it rather sutble to give it a kinda aged feel.

Challenges used:
...Wee Memories: celebrate good times (what's better than giving thanks)

My second card is keeping with the simple feel and the music background. I also used my Banana Pudding Chalkboard Glimmer Mist on the star and ribbon. My biggest issue with this one is that I REALLY don't like my handwriting and I had to write the saying on the card. This card is also going to be used for another card drive over at Ling's Design Studio. She is collecting cards with messages already written in for those who live in nursing homes, care centers, and assisted living. My goal with this one is to create at least 26 cards and have some of my students write messages for these people. Just a little something to brighten someone's day.
