Appreciating teachers

or administration in this case. This was an emotional year for the English department I work with this year. The state started the year saying (but not really saying) one thing about state testing and then word just came that will make the next several years just as hard. Results came back from this year's test and it broke my heart because of the hours we put into getting our students ready for it. It is no fun telling students that put their all into a test that they state doesn't think it's enough and they failed. Through it all though I discovered just how much my admin works for and encourages us. They are our cheerleaders just as we are our students. My department and I wanted to say thank you and they asked me to design some cards. This first one is my favorite one as it includes a removable bookmark. The bookmark is for a tree that this particular admin has and decorates with all kinds of bookmarks.

The card is rather simple and includes a vellum pocket with the sentiment "we appreciate you" stamped on it. behind the vellum (on the card base) I stamped the solid books from Clear and Simple stamps set Air Mail. I used PTI's bookmark die and on the bottom I stamped the apple and another sentiment along the side. I also created the tassel. I do need to work on my stitching though as it is rather crooked here.

Pocket card bookmark

Here's another SCS Hope challenge card (seven more to go). I decided to turn the sketch from Mojo Monday into a little pocket for a bookmark. I also tried to use my little sewing machine to make the pocket. Looks like I need to practice sewing some straight lines, lol. The stamped images are from PTI's Flutterby Friend and the sentiment is their Mega Mixed Messages. The colors I used are Garden Green, Night of Navy, and Rose Red.

Challenges used:
Mojo Monday - sketch
Lexi's Creations - anything goes
Crafty cardmakers - stitching
SCS HYCCT23 - sew thankful for a friendship (it's a friendship card that is sending a wish as a thank-you)
