Blessing for boy or girl

Paper Smooches' Sparks Challenge Blog had a great sketch that I wanted to try. They are also holding a DT call and I thought I would throw my hat in the ring for that too. This week's inspiration was found in a sketch:

Paper Smooches stamps are so cute and fun and easy to work with and that made the cards come together rather quickly with this sketch too.  I also pulled inspiration from the many amazing cards from an online class all about creating his and hers cards that I wanted to give it a try myself. I was pleasantly surprised how easily it was with only three stamp sets (one being used on both).

For Him:

The above card is the "male" version. I used Paper Smooches Potpourri for the graphic work along the bottom and their Spiritual Sampler for the sentiment. I stuck with only two colors: black and gold. I have seen gold lots lately and thought it would make for a great card here. I heat embossed everything in gold. This includes the all gold banner too. I dipped only the end of the wide banner in gold and lined the edges of the skinny one to give each banner their own personality. The sentiment strip was gold embossed along the edges and then popped up.

For Her:

For my girly one I went a little out of my comfort zone and used some floral DP from my stash. The leaves on this DP reminded me of the leaves from Paper Smooches's Reflections set so I let that be my starting point and I used the same sentiment from their Spiritual Sampler. I couldn't find ink to match the blue on the DP so I used two different blues to create something close: Distress Ink's Broken China and Hero Arts' Soft Pool. I stamped the center steam full on an then stamped again for a lighter feel for the far left one. I decided the third one needed to be popped up so that it could be dark and not blend into the middle leaf. Since it was popped up I also coated it in Star Dust Stickles to work with the glitter found in the DP. To finish off the card I simple added some faux stitching along the edges of the DP.
