And the birthday party continues

While coming up with this card I discoverd a background that I LOVE. TSG's fourth challenge was all about banners. Retro sketches has this great sketch this week that I wanted to use and I thought it would work well with my idea. I created a picture frame and then was stuck. While looking at my TSG stamp I noticed three cute little clouds from the Day and Night set and thought what a cute sky they would make. The next decision was should I create this sky on the frame or the whole card. Since I was in a tine crunch (really should be getting back to my grading) I went with the sky on the frame. I used the same technique I did on the pink/turquoise card. I coated the clouds with glossy accent and after it dried I sponged Tumbled Glass, Broken China, and Salty Ocean over it to make my blue sky. I loved this look so much that you will see it again on another card, maybe two. To add some banners I used a PTI set and stamped them directly onto the card base. My birthday sentiment fit perfectly along the bottom of the frame opening, just under the banners. I wrapped my frame with some white thread and then popped it up to add a little deminsion.

I've bee scrapping

It has been a long time since I have been scrapbooking on a regular basis, but I am doing it right now. I am in the middle of a class at Big Picture Classes called The Mother LOAD and this is what is helping me scrap again. Right now we are gearing up for the big LOAD (layout a day) project in September. School is just around the corner (I have two day of inservice today and then I offically start back on Tuesday next week) and with that comes less time to craft. I am trying to get in a little craft time each night and building up my scrapping skills so that I can pull this off. I will start sharing some of my pages with ya'll starting with this one.

The challenge for week one was to scrap a page about why we scrapbook. I found this one very interesting and fun to create.

The striped paper is an old one from my stash while the banner was made from a WMS stamp set called Bitty Banners and then sewed into place.

WMS Blog Hop: 4th July/Americana

It's waltzing time again, and today I've got two Waltzing Mouse cards for ya'll. I don't really send out 4th of July cards (invites maybe), so I went with the Americana style for this hop. I used WMS's Bitty Banners for both and doubled inked them (meaning I used two colors at the same time). I inked up the stamps using Distress Ink's Faded Jeans and Fired Brick and PTI's Fresh Snow. I then glued the cut out banners on some twine. The sentiments are from PTI. I sponged the edges of the cardstock with PTI's Vintage Duo. Two simple and quick cards. Now if only I had the Spellbinder's Banner Dies that fit this stamp set :)

This card just makes me smile.

I really like the white wash feel on the base of this one.

Prima CASE for YMH

I saw this card on PRIMA's blog and knew I had to CASE it as I just happened to have one of the clear doilies packaging on hand. I also had on hand several flowers and bling leftover from the Prima kits that I've gotten from YMH. The card was really easy and came together fast for me. The base is a turquoise color that I sponged white ink around the edges and then layered the clear packaging from Prima on top of it using some glossy accent for it. After that it was just a matter of playing with the flowers and bling. That's one thing I really love about the Prima kits, you get all kinds of great leftovers to use for other projects. After getting all of the flowers and bling glued down in place I decided to create a banner using a PTI dies and sentiment from PTI's Friends 'til the end stamp set chosing ink colors from the flowers (yellow and turquoise).

Challenges used:
Paper Cutz Challenge: make a card, LO, or project using a banner and any color or theme
Stamp Something: use a sentiment
PaperPlay Challenge: blossoms and blooms

Sweet Little Fall Bird

Before I get to the card I would like to ask for some prayers. My youngest (19 months old boy) is getting tubes in and adnoids out tomorrow morning. I know it's a simple procedure but I would still appreciate the prayers. Thanks :)

I got a sweet little card for ya' too. It's a sweet little birdie card that I had lots of fun creating. The sentiment is from Creative Imaginations' Narratives stickers that I added to a little banner I made. The button is from PTI's collection and I tied it on with a little twine. I used Tim Holtz's woodgrain embossing folder to keep with a tree theme.

Challenges used:
OTWC:

Stampin' Celebration:

The Play Date Cafe:

Creative Card Crew: use punches (I used my nesties of course)
Lord Have Mercy: sketch
Digital Tuesday: I've been framed (frame your image)
